One very fond memory actually took place in Manhattan. A long time ago. Must have been the early 90’s (it’s not even 5am, don’t feel like researching it). For some reason I was at the game by myself. We got our assses handed to us the whole game. Just played awful, so I was pretty quiet. We fought back slowly and by the last possession we were down 2, I believe. With 3 or 4 seconds left Steve Woodberry brought the ball up the court quickly and, with time running out, launched a loooong 3 point shot which he drained and we won by one point! I launched out of my seat, arms raised, double fist pump and screamed “HELL YEEEEAAAAHHH!” And everyone in the building heard me because, after Steve’s shot, it got stone cold quiet in there and apparently I was the only KU fan there that day. It was a long, tense walk to my car.

@approxinfinity Maybe. I believe that is the goal. That is the model at other schools without the rich basketball history that KU has. I just hate breaking what is working in favor of doing what everyone else is doing. It would be best to hit up different donors (build your own support) for football as opposed to over taxing those that support the basketball team.

College basketball will have a couple of significant rule changes for next season. Coaches will be allowed one challenge per game as long as they have a timeout. The three things that can be challenged are out of bounds calls, goaltending, and restricted arc calls. If a coach is successful, they will get another challenge. Officials can still use replay for everything they previously have been allowed to. Another big change the NCAA is introducing a continuation rule for fouls similar to what the NBA has. Another rule change is that incidental contact to the groin area can now be deemed a Flagrant 1 whereas before it was an automatic Flagrant 2 and ejection. One rule that has been discussed and is not changing yet is game format. Games will still be two 20 minute halves. There’s been a lot of discussion about moving to quarters in recent years, but advertisers have been the big hold up on that as they would lose a TV timeout each half.

I’m curious what this does to the world of college agency. Might this finally put an end to less-than-professional agency representation still present in college sports?

And Indiana couldn’t overcome losing Haliburton to a ruptured achilles. Nick Collison is a member of the Thunder’s front office so there is at least one Jayhawk getting a ring this season. Really wish Haliburton hadn’t gotten injured because this had been a great series and may have had a different outcome if he doesn’t get hurt.
