People cutting in line.
People that drive in the passing lane at a slower rate than the rest of traffic. (And will not get in the slower lane when they have a chance)
I guess it rounds out to be people that are inconsiderate of other people.
Having to deal with answering services when calling somewhere and play phone bingo to speak to a live person.
Having to deal with insurance companies that tell me what tests I can order and in what order and what medicines are on the formulary which can be a guessing game.
The exorbitant price of brand name medicine in the U.S.

RE: An ugly topic: Bill Self’s health
I am in the health care field, so I did a little research on this topic myself. Length of survival after an AVR (aortic valve replacement) procedure for a low-risk younger pt, which I am assuming he is low-risk, had a median lifespan of 16 years after the procedure. This is from an article in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology from Nov 2021. I saw another article stating that it would reduce a typical lifespan by about 8 years, but this is much better than the 2 to 3 year survival rate without the valve replacement. And that 2-3 years is not with a very good quality of life.

RE: Jayhawks in the pros
Saw the highlight of Braun throwing down the poster dunk on Rudy Gobert last night. Unfortunately, it lead to a technical and took the momentum away with the Nuggs ultimately losing after being up by 10 with 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Who would have thought Braun would be starting in the NBA when he played at KU?
It is a great thing to see! -
RE: Sox game shooting.
It was on the national news. Hope it was accidental, but a loaded weapon by spectators should not be brought into any sports venue in my opinion.

RE: MAUI WOWIE TOURNAMENT
Hearing from HCBS that Kevin has been sick. It could explain his TO’s and slowness.
I am at work, so will have to watch the game later tonight.Have a great holiday weekend!

RE: When is our exhibitionism ?
I was typing it in, when you sent the article. Beat me to it.
FYI, exhibitionism is AKA flashing. We want the team to play basketball. Not end up in jail! -
RE: KU game Saturday and Neveda.
This would have been the biggest upset of the football year if KU lost. CBS announcers.

RE: Tracking the Outgoing KU transfers
Kyle had 8 points, 4 rebounds. He shot 50% FG(3/6) 33% 3P (1/3) 50% FT (1/2) No assists. 1 steal. 1 TO and fouled out. He played 23 minutes.

RE: Team discussion after 10 games
On a whole, I think the team is playing below expectations, but I always want them to play like they are NBA-ready from the start, which I realize is unrealistic. I think they have not gelled well entirely.
Hunter - meeting or slightly below expectations - He seems slow, but when I saw him running in comparison to Clingan - Conn C - he looked like he was hustling. I don’t know if he is giving 100% except with stiffer competition.
McCullar - He is above expectations. He is the go-to guy whenever a basket is needed and unable to get it low to Hunter. He has had 2 triple doubles. I am so glad he returned.
KJ - above expectations. In spite of everything that he has been through, he has given us quality minutes on the defense and he is putting up points even though his shot is limited right now to short floaters, layups and monster dunks. He always hustles and brings energy to the team and the crowd. Elmarko - below expectations to being on target. He has been coming up better in the last few games, but based upon how he was made out to be, I expected more out of him. I did not realize that he is fairly new to basketball, coming from lacrosse like KJ. He will continue to get better, but not sure how strong or consistent of a player he will be this year. Dajuan - below expectations. He does not seem as sharp to me this year in comparison to last year. He is making too many unforced TO’s with trying to throw the ball into a crowd that is easily picked off. Is “the best point guard in the country” going to his head? He is not giving 100% in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge Dajuan fan, but I have been disappointed in his play this year so far except in the 1 game where he hit several 3’s.
Furph3 - on target I think he is doing well for the limited amount of time he has been present. He will be something special in time, but I don’t know how well he will do this year. I think he has quite a few growing pains ( no pun intended), before he makes a huge impact. He certainly needs to work on his defense. He will improve dramatically from year to year, but I don’t know how long we will be able to keep him.
Timberlake - below expectations - I was thinking he would be our next Svi re: hitting 3’s. We all know how that is going. He seems to hustle to me on defense and is good when he is in front of whoever he is guarding, but faster players do blow by him far too often. Braun - on target to above expectations - He seems to hustle and has better hops than Hunter and is a better blocker so far. He seems to take advantage of his minutes and does positive things when on the court.
Jamari - on target to above expectations - For someone that was going to redshirt, with the limited amount of time he has played, he had done mostly positive things. In the Missouri game, he seemed not as good as he had in earlier games, but he has good energy on the court and appears to hustle. I think he could be a special player, but don’t expect a tremendous impact this season. -

RE: 2023 Recruiting
Wish Chris luck and hope he is willing to take constructive criticism, so he can grow as a player. He may be a lot better than he played last year due to off-court issues. I am not saying that I know this to be true, though. Personally, I don’t believe the on-court ceiling of AM outweighs the off-court questionable behavior, but I will trust HCBS knows more than I do about the situation. It will be interesting to see who made the better decision.

RE: Tornados
Had 1 or 2 visit on Wednesday night. EF-1’s. 6 in total in my area all within a 30 minute timeframe. Lots of tree damage. Mature old trees. One clipped a side of the house, but fortunately minimal damage. Just doing cleanup now.

RE: Has Bill Self seen aliens?
@nuleafjhawk My coworker’s friend’s acquaintance told him that he saw Bill fly into Area 51 to visit family and he came out at Skinwalker Ranch. So, I think there is something to it. High Strangeness indeed!

RE: Best Westerns (not Hotels)
My favorites would include Dances with Wolves, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Outlaw Josey Wales, and Shane. I agree that Deadwood is a great show. I also enjoyed Hell on Wheels, a TV show from AMC, about building the Intercontinental Railroad.

RE: Has Bill Self seen aliens?
FYI. I had heard that Self was holding onto that last scholarship trying to recruit Bigfoot, AKA Harry Stench. He has low basketball IQ, but he is a wide body that will keep players out of the lane.

@approxinfinity We always tend to focus on when someone does something bad and not enough kudos for when someone does the right thing, such as charity or as simple as being kind to others.

RE: MAUI WOWIE TOURNAMENT
@Crimsonorblue22 I noticed it during the 1st game and initially thought it was a T-shirt. If it is a PICC line (peripherally inserted central catheter) which is the typical location for one, then that would indicate a potential infection of the heart valve that requires a longer course of antibiotic, which is usually 6-12 weeks. But since @FarmerJayhawk says it is routine then it is more like an ambulatory BP machine to monitor his BP. High BP puts more stress on the heart valve and thus the heart.
I am conjecturing based upon my medical background. If this is not appreciated, let me know and I will keep it to myself.

RE: McCullah Situation
Pain is a very subjective thing, but just because there is no structural abnormality seen on MRI does not mean that the person experiencing pain is having psychosomatic symptoms. For example, there are many people that have had a previous injury or surgery and in the process of the body healing itself makes a scar that gradually remodels itself and gets smaller. Now suppose a nerve traverses through the scar and begins getting pinched causing a painful signal to occur that will not show on any imaging or maybe a recent injury is causing inflammation that causes compression of a nerve with pain. The inflammation is subtle enough to also not show on imaging, but if you press on the area or move it just the right way elicits pain. If he is having pain, then I will believe him until proven otherwise. Also a nerve comduction study would not be helpful in this situation.

RE: Transfer Rumblings
@BShark Why would anyone want that on their team? How many times does a person magically mature enough to not bring that toxicity with them?
-
RE: KU vs UCF Game Chat
I am sorry if I have offended anyone. I want to commiserate with fellow fans when someone does boneheaded plays because I want the team to always play their best. I want the team to show they are the best in the land and hope that their conditioning and understanding of Bill’s vision and their dietary choices and their life situation is allowing them to focus on the reason they chose to come to Kansas to play in the 1st place. I get passionate and express that frustration openly with likeminded individuals. I will refrain from doing so in the future, since I understand it is frowned upon. I will observe in the background. Rock Chalk!

RE: Other bball games
@Crimsonorblue22 Same. On my hierarchy I have Purdue ahead of UConn. I don’t want UConn to have back to back. I don’t mind the players on UConn, but Hurley is insufferable.

RE: Wembanyama Career Projections
@approxinfinity From what I have read, he has been doing specific exercises to help lessen the risk of injury. His father and mother both are athletes, which I think helps them to appreciate ways in preventing injury. He has had a stress fracture of his tibia and had broken a finger, but he has been playing with men professionally since 15 years old and has excelled. Obviously, the NBA will be a major step-up with respect to skill and physicality. Only time will tell. (unless you think that time is a human construct to make sense of our strange world and that everything is happening at the same time. Then maybe we all know already, just not consciously. )

RE: Streaming Services
I have Hulu live with Disney+ and ESPN+. I had had Sling, but then it had a disagreement with ESPN and I was not going to miss the Jayhawks, so I jumped over to Hulu live with never having to worry about having ESPN available. It has FS1 and all the games that KU plays. I think Hulu live and youtubetv are similar in a lot of ways, but they don’t carry the same channels entirely. I picked Hulu because the ESPN+ was included, but I don’t watch a lot of pro sports, so I don’t know about how much of those are included.

RE: KU is #1
I was a Senior in HS when Danny and the Miracles won the tourney. Hutch CC won the JUCO tourney that same year and where I went to HS, we went to state 3 out of the 4 yrs. I was a fan prior to that, but that year made an impression upon me.
Over the last few years, it seems like there has been more drama. Maybe I am paying more attention to it because my life is not as busy or it could be that things are being reported more with news available 24/7. Probably a little of both.
I am overall less enthused about what has happened this year with the AM situation and the transfers of both Udeh and Zuby. Once the season starts, I will be fired up for the team to succeed. It is a new transition or change that is occurring and as we get older, we tend to not like change.

RE: Dream Team 2024 vs 1992
@dylans Is tweeting an ankle considered vulgar now and so bad that he had to sit out the 2nd half? Are we harkening back to the 1890’s? I knew we were becoming more conservative in the national dialogue, but maybe this is taking it too far. I guess the benching could be due to using a phone in the middle of the game.
FYI, I knew that you meant tweaking (not the meth kind) an ankle, but I could not resist.
