Best part for Darryn recovering is to get through Saturday's game. They have an entire week to rest and prepare for BYU after.

RE: Pray for Bill Self
Sounds like precautions were taken given what was happening (and his past), it was ultimately the right decision. Sounds like he will coach Saturday which is a good thing to hear.

RE: Darryn Peterson
DP rolled his ankle and Self says he won't be 100% for a bit. Can't catch a break

RE: YAWWNNN KU-Buffs 10 PM
Agreed they just point blank missed a lot of easy calls. There was one where Flory was fouled (forget if it was near the face) that they didn't call. The offensive foul on Tiller late in 2nd half (Touched air) as Peterson was drilling a 3 to make the game 69-60 (we later did anyway) but still. Tre White nosebleed. Council was called for a charge when the defender was literally backpedaling still.
Can't imagine that crew gets a good review

RE: YAWWNNN KU-Buffs 10 PM
Couple key things turning to Saturday's game. Bashir is out for K-ST. 67 made 3's on the year at 44% clip. He would have been a prime candidate to have 10 of them on Saturday so that's positive. Their starting big McGriff was also out last night. The two guys that filled in for Bashir/McGrifff combined for 48 minutes and 2 POINTS. No idea of his status for Saturday.
We'll have a major advantage in the front court on Saturday night. No excuses for walking out of that craphole without a victory.

RE: YAWWNNN KU-Buffs 10 PM
Meh, then it's the referee's responsibility to make the call, the one that was standing point blank there to make. Council and KU benefitted from the error.
There were several mistakes by this crew last night. They missed a clear goal-tend in the first half on Flory that if called could have been reviewed and overturned. We'll take it. We're on the other end of the stick far too often.
The A-Team wasn't in Boulder last night

RE: YAWWNNN KU-Buffs 10 PM
What's funny is I turned this on my phone and the sound wasn't working, I thought ESPN had muted the announcers (wishful thinking knowing Fran was calling the game). Turns out I just had my volume all the way down.
It's painful how bad he is at this gig.
Bright side: We have more remaining games on networks outside of ESPN so we're a bit lucky that we may only get him a few more times...

RE: YAWWNNN KU-Buffs 10 PM
Certainly, the first half was rocky defensively, but they made adjustments in the 2nd half which ultimately helped them win. Good to see they were able to make adjustments without Self. Perhaps he would have tweaked some stuff earlier, we don't know. Still, we won on the road without our coach. I'm not sure any team recently has accomplished that.
3 pt defense will have to be sharp Saturday as that's all K-St does. Defend and rebound. We can beat them, they are horrible defensively.

RE: Other Games 2025-2026
Baylor was blown out at home by Tech. Drew has a couple "me, me, me" kids and it shows. He doesn't have a team, just a few guys auditioning for the next level.

RE: Other Games 2025-2026
K-St got their first conference win last night beating Utah by 3 at home. I think that's a positive for KU going into Saturday as a 0-6 team would have been hungry for the upset.

RE: YAWWNNN KU-Buffs 10 PM
Unfortunately couldn't watch last night but just watched the full replay getting ready for work.
Darryn playing til the end- Nice!
Darryn getting a bit hobbled mid-2nd half and playing like he was hobbled. Hopefully he's good for Saturday.
Flory- Huge defensive game. He's an elite rim protector. 4 or more blocks in 5 of the 6 conference games so far.
White- Huge bounce-back game for him 17 & 15.
Council- Huge game. Those 2 layups within 5 seconds were what gave KU the momentum to get the W. He's made of brass.
Officiating- Do better. Awful to watch Council/Tiller/White continuously be fouled at the rim. Colorado is very lucky this team didn't have 30 FT attempts.
Proud of the team for the response on the road. Perhaps the Self situation kept them focused on winning for him. Perhaps the team has made real growth (looks like it). KU had dropped 7 of its last 8 Big-12 road games so nice to get one. Now let's get another on Saturday Night.

RE: Darryn Peterson
Since Darryn has come back KU has been the #7 offense in the country. And all this while not 100% yet either.

RE: Pray for Bill Self
Damn, hopefully he's okay and can make a speedy recovery.
Definitely throws a wrench into this week.

RE: Other Games 2025-2026
He's a tool, putting it mildly. Seems to be par for the course for him when things don't go well.

Important Week
Last week was rightfully so, a get right week for this team. Couldn't have asked for much better performances against Iowa St & Baylor at home. Both of these games were good for the souls of all that follow this program closely.
A few noticeable changes occurred for the team. Some good changes made by Self that delivered.
-
Shortened Rotation to 7. Elmarko and Mari the main subs. Dawson was next (sparingly). Rosario has lost his spot in the rotation. After last week, that ultimately looks like the right decision.
-
KU's switching defense saw some tweaks. Guards switching on guards only. Bigs switching on bigs with hard hedges and recovery only. Probably the most important change. Defense fueled offense and we didn't see nearly the amount of mistakes made.
-
Improved defensive rebounding & forcing turnovers. Just +1 on the boards but effort was noticeable from the team. Defensive activity improved in forcing turnovers (+10 last week) that led to more transition buckets.
Unfortunately, this team cannot rest on its accomplishments and now has what should be a manageable week on the road. If last week was to be trusted, we should hopefully expect a 2-0 week. That would really jump start this team getting back into the conference race. Colorado & K-ST are a combined 2-8 in conference play as of today. If this team has turned the corner, we just have to find a way to win both games this week.
I actually think this is an important week for the coaches to find some change(s) to improve the efforts on the road. Perhaps the changes made last week will continue to see net positive results but I'm talking more about having the team juiced to compete, the energy and aggressiveness without the home crowd. How do they help this team feel comfortable in the uncomfortable.
Big week ahead

RE: Other Games 2025-2026
I'm hesitant to say much about them until we play them this weekend. We've pissed our pants there the last few years and can't talk crap if we can't beat them.
-
RE: Other Games 2025-2026
In Big-12 action, not a ton of big games this week.
Texas Tech has the most difficult week (@ Baylor, vs Houston)
Kansas has the most to prove this week with road games at Colorado & K-St. This needs to be another 2-0 week

RE: Other Games 2025-2026
8 ranked teams lost over the weekend (3 of them lost to another ranked team) but a very volatile weekend. Expect KU back in the polls after a strong week, somewhere around 22 or so.
