Boy I hope Doke is able to recover from this ankle sprain.
Garrett’s injuries seem to be showing up as well. It wasn’t a positive that Self mentioned him in a good deal of pain after Saturday
-
@BeddieKU23 he has been wearing the boot since I made that thread.
-
Bill self just said on hawk talk that he is out of the walking boot but he is still Questionable for Wednesday’s game

Start him on Wednesday, then pull him first dead ball to get his ovation and sit him the rest of the game. KU shouldn’t need Doke to beat TCU in Lawrence.
-
I had the same thought you all seem to have. Doke doesn’t play again until the 2nd round of the dance.
-
@wissox Shades of Embiid…shudder.
-
Exactly what I was thinking too. That would just suck big time.
-
-
These always get the tears going. Ugh
-
Sounds like Doke wants to play tomorrow. Coach said they gonna test it tomorrow. I don’t know if he should or not BUT I get it , Senior night last game at the Phog for Doke. - -Might just play him very limited. They gonna test it and then decide tomorrow. ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Unless he cant walk he is going to play. Might be on a pitch count but you know Doke is going to want to go out in style tomorrow. We can only hope he doesn’t injure himself and we get the win!

Of course Doke wants to play. This is where Self needs to look at the risk/reward of the situation. KU is the favorites to win the national championship right now. KU will not win that title without a healthy Doke. Start Doke tomorrow and pull him at the first dead ball so he can get his recognition, then sit Doke until he’s as healthy as can be. If that means sitting him until the NCAA Tournament, then sit him until the NCAA Tournament. Doke’s health for the NCAA Tournament run is far more important than him proving his toughness because we know how tough he is.
-
We don’t need Doke this game against TCU at this point. Play him minute to minute, evaluate his ankle. But give Big Mac some minutes. We need both down the stretch. Doke is no good to us injured, on the bench, and with a boot. Bill needs to limit his minutes this game. This TCU game is a great game for Dave.
-
@BeddieKU23 Let’s hope he doesn’t go out with a boot. I fear he is too eager and seeing him laying on the floor after turning his ankle is too much.
-
Rest up big Doke. We have Silvio back!! (so if Big Dave fouls out in four minutes we’ll still have a guy that can get some rebounds)

Silvio is still suspended

Exactly play him like you said , then pull him. He gets floor time on Senior night & then we still get to appreciate him for his Senior night post game speech. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

JUST DELIVERED AN ALL TIME SR NIGHT SPEECH. AHHHHHH.
-
Espn + should still have post game. I switched to cox cable

I’m drained after Dok’s sr speech. Talking about how his dad died before he came over, not being able to see his mom etc

@BShark plus getting hurt so much and being that young! I was homesick my first yr of college at 18!

Hung this up right before the game started. It feels like a great omen after watching his performance tonight. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite players of all time

Doke Dunk Watch
Doke is 1 up on Obi Toppin with 101 dunks. He’s 21 off the record for a season set by himself
He’s tied with Tacko Fall for most dunks in a career. That record will fall Saturday
-
@BeddieKU23 ![alt text]( image url) I thought this was a cool pic too
-
@Crimsonorblue22 That is a cool pic, but I thought players and fans all looked up to Bill!

Why he won POY folks

@kjayhawks hoping for ff mop too!
-
Who woulda thunk all that discussion we had months ago that scouts would start noticing how much better Doke is this season.
Seems he’s played himself into “drafted” state at this point.
-
He deserved the award. Impacted the game unlike any other player in college basketball this year. Everyone knows he’s getting the ball, but still he can’t be stopped.

this COVID stuff has been so pervasive I haven’t had time to grieve the season. Got me.

I hope that someday he will be able to walk down the hill and receive the degree he has earned. I doubt Sping grad ceremonies will be held this year. 3 time All Big 12 Academic team. We don’t pay as much attention to that as we should, but to me it is the highest recognition of the effort some students put in.
-
Doesn’t get to play in a single Big12 tournament game. Only one NCAA tournament. And doesn’t get to walk down the hill at graduation. Poor Dok got robbed. One of my favorite players of all time got totally screwed. At least he had that one final four.
-
@dylans he was having an all time great end to the season too. I fully believe he would have went ham in the tournament.

@BShark and there’s the magic word. Chemistry. We called it before the season. No egos. Team unity. I loved the camera panning across the team as Doke spoke at senior night. Yeah. He called their language a little dirty. There were different personalities. They weren’t all best friends but they were brothers in arms. Universal respect for each other and commitment toward a common cause.
-
Poor Doke is in a ghost town. Doesn’t look like anyone is around campus or Lawrence in his snaps.
-
@kjayhawks Doesn’t sound good for his mental state, but at least he shouldn’t catch a cold.
-
It was. He ran and defended and crushed like never before. Like no one in college basketball. And after one of the most dominant month-long stretches in program history ended with a Big 12 regular-season title, the outright clincher coming on the final day of the regular season on March 7 at Texas Tech, Azubuike started throwing around words like legacy. “He wanted the (national) championship so bad,” says his best friend, KU sprinter Omasanuwa Omatseye.
-
@BShark I think we will miss Doke the most next season. He’s such a sit down and shut up player. What I mean by that is when you need a basket after the other team makes a run, he gets a dunk and sets them down. Having a guy that converts over 75% is a huge positive. I’m not sure if I’ll ever get over him not having another shot at a FF/title this season. He just sent out a snap shooting in an empty McCarthy hall. Hopefully someone is around that he can hang out with.

I feel so sorry for that kid. They shut School down, and he is stuck by himself? - - Wonder why he hung around? Poor kid - - everybody else gone ? - -dam I hate that
-
We will completely miss Doke’s sudden dominance in the paint.
More… I think we will miss his spirit. No one can say that guy doesn’t care about Jayhawk basketball! He has always worn his emotions on his sleeve and how much he cares about his team!
