In all the years we have talked about Doke’s “ potential”, this game was what most of us, the glass half- full ones, had envisioned … I’m not sure I’ve seen a better game from him. Against the number #1 team in the country at their house. Wow. I love being a Kansas fan
today was another great day of KU Nation.For me, completely depressing that all the talk here is about Doke’s chances to stick in the National Boring Association. I’m glad that he has blossomed into a great COLLEGE player. For me I wish him the best, whether it’s going into the meat-grinder schlepathon of the interminable NBA season, or overseas. He will make money wherever he goes, barring injury. He is a good guy, and he will always be a Jayhawk!!!
And… I was a bit worried about whether or not our boys were gelling into a real band of brothers… One of Baylor’s big advantages is their self-less team unity, and I think we are there too. We can win it all this year.
Right now I sure could use a long invigorating post from Jaybate to cap off this day. Somebody get ahold of him and tell him to get to work, please

@BeddieKU23 I’d imagine David is going to get some significant hacks. Dotson and Garrett will be put to the floor a few times. I really hope they don’t cheap shot Doke as he wasn’t really involved and is on such an upswing. He can take some good hard fouls and does EVERY game. Also, I would be very afraid to foul Doke too hard. He is so scary strong.

I know it’s Senior night but I would rest him. We should be able to best TCU without him.

He has a Sprained right ankle and is questionable for Wednesday’s games and good thing it is not broken and is wearing a walk Boot so nothing else could happen to it

Unfortunate for Doke, I honestly wish they’d consider medical redshirts for guys in his situation. I doubt he’d take it at this point anyway but he has missed time in every season due to injury and over half the season as a freshman and junior. Ankle injuries can be minor and not a big deal or they can nag for months at a time. I’d consider setting him til the second round of the NCAA tournament if it means he will be close to a 100%. It just will suck to not see him play on senior night if it turns out to be the serious type.

Doke’s eligible for a medical redshirt for the time he missed last season. I don’t know if he’d also be eligible based on his freshman year or not, but I think he would be as well if he and KU wanted to pursue that avenue.
And just so no one tries to put words in my mouth on this, no Doke will not be back next season, he’ll be on an NBA roster. He’s just eligible for a medical redshirt.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I had the same thoughts about Doke awhile back and asked the question on when the deadline is to fill out the proper paperwork. If I remember correctly it is August of whatever year he was injured. @HighEliteMajor posted the actual rule for us.

Boy I hope Doke is able to recover from this ankle sprain.
Garrett’s injuries seem to be showing up as well. It wasn’t a positive that Self mentioned him in a good deal of pain after Saturday

Unless he cant walk he is going to play. Might be on a pitch count but you know Doke is going to want to go out in style tomorrow. We can only hope he doesn’t injure himself and we get the win!

Of course Doke wants to play. This is where Self needs to look at the risk/reward of the situation. KU is the favorites to win the national championship right now. KU will not win that title without a healthy Doke. Start Doke tomorrow and pull him at the first dead ball so he can get his recognition, then sit Doke until he’s as healthy as can be. If that means sitting him until the NCAA Tournament, then sit him until the NCAA Tournament. Doke’s health for the NCAA Tournament run is far more important than him proving his toughness because we know how tough he is.

We don’t need Doke this game against TCU at this point. Play him minute to minute, evaluate his ankle. But give Big Mac some minutes. We need both down the stretch. Doke is no good to us injured, on the bench, and with a boot. Bill needs to limit his minutes this game. This TCU game is a great game for Dave.
