Gotcha, sounds good. I do feel like with the new climate, with NiL. Losing a kid to the g league is avoidable. It would be very frustrating if we can’t keep 1 fringe top 20 kid but duke and UK will have 3-5 5star kids stay committed. Many of the duke guys are top ten players and would get larger deals in the g league and overseas then mj rice would…. Thanks for the update

KU needs to improve their NIL game. Will be something to monitor.
-
NIL game for KU just isn’t where it needs to be or where it should be currently.
Rice is a we’ll believe it when he shows on campus type. Figure the spring will heat up talk regarding him

So I have not read a thing about other schools and what kinda NIL deals players can get. Anybody know what KU guys may be missing out on?

Rice is gonna be at Kansas nowere eles
-
All I know is that remy got a car and Jared Casey got Applebee’s gift cards.
-
Sounds like he’s having a really good year!
Dick, a four-star Kansas signee, is a skilled, sizey and versatile wing. He’s made a jump in his development over the last eight months and could make a jump in the rankings because of it.
He’s playing with confidence, unphased whether shots are falling or not and has found other ways to impact the game regardless. His defense, rebounding, basketball IQ, athleticism and his experience playing at the highest levels of high school basketball is paying off for one of the top teams in the country.
-
@BeddieKU23 Should be a 5* but it doesn’t matter. Love this class.
-
He’s definitely a 5 star talent & I think his upside to the next levels is there to support the rank. He’s my favorite in this class which is saying something because the other 3 are studs too. I just think this kid has it all.
-
KU could have 2 potential OAD’s in the 2022 class. Looking at various 2023 mock drafts, I’ve seen both Gradey Dick and MJ Rice’s names as potential first round picks.
That’s also crazy to think about to me because it’s almost a certainty that at least one of those two comes off the bench next year.
-
ESPN updated their rankings which will factor into the composite on 247. Also looks good when ESPN does their slobber fest of freshman in the beginning of seasons.
Gradey in the Top 10. Zuby is too low.
Gradey Dick #8 5-star MJ Rice #19 5-star Ernest Udeh #23 5-star Zuby Ejiofor #76 4-star
-
Zuby should be about 35 or 40, somewhere there abouts right?

70s is comedy for him. Think he contributes next year. Gonna be a war for post minutes.

No doubt. And we haven’t even been talking about Clemence who can also play.
-
It’s Espn so yeah. I really like what he and Udeh are bringing to the front court.
-
247 updated their rankings. Duke with 4 of the Top 10.
Gradey at 22, Rice #28, Udeh #29, Zuby #41.
Composite now has Gradey #24 (5 star), Rice #25 (5-star), Udeh #29, Zuby #47
Some recent guys that KU was looking at hit the Top 100- Desmond Claude (PG) #88, Judah Mintz (CG) #73, Amaree Abram (PG) #64
-
@BeddieKU23 no longer recruiting Mintz fwiw
-
Claude to Xavier, not that it appeared KU was super serious.
-
Not sure where to put this post.
Looking at J Will’s Snapchat, it looks like he got a Wendy’s NIL deal. Does anyone know details?
-
@rockchalkwyo Correct. No idea on the details.

Nope. Guessing it’s with a local franchise, not corporate. Selfishly I hope he sticks around. He could be a very good 4 year player for us if he wants.

Just so everyone knows Gradey Dick and MJ Rice taking their officials to KU This weekend for the UK game.
Also a pair of 23 teammates of Gradey are coming in as well for visits

ya buddy. maybe get a nice line going there

GRADEY IS A STUD
-
Yohan Traore got his strong a** offer to go to LSU
-
@BeddieKU23 Mercy a lot of those 3’s were DEEP & nothing but net
-
Hes been doing that all year. Noticeable improvement in his game. Taken on a bigger role without issue. I think he’s the best shooter KU has signed in several classes

Me too buddy. One thing and it’s nit picking and I know when he get’s in College that wil be taken care of. - The only thing I see is on the defensive end but like I said it’s mainly because of where he is right now, and that was really bad getting back on defense or IF he gets back kind of jogs - - -BUT I think thats the way it is in a lot of kids in these kind of Schools so I’m not worried - -these guys just want to display offensively.- - I think Grady is really gonna be a stud herre
-
Yeah he is not a lockdown defender, not many are at the level. Think his ceiling is higher then Braun who’s now on draft boards so we should be pretty darn excited

Glad the staff realized they had no shot and secured Udeh.

Agree. Udeh just fits here as well. I think we might even get 4 yrs out the dude

Holy crap it must’ve been. G League was on him too.

Snake oil greases a lot of wheels

@BShark As far as consolation prizes go… Udeh is a pretty solid one.

You could argue he is the better option for college given that Traore will probably only play one year. Traore is a special talent though I could not believe he was unranked when Bill offered. Much better to secure Udeh than chased after Traore and lost. Past chasing examples include: Julius Randle, Matt Hurt.

Still think we should be after Bobbi Klintmann. Kid can really shoot it at his size. 6"8 with tools to work with.

Don’t think we need to fill this position though. I think the only real possible need is another guard.
-
Yeah I can see that. I agree about needing a guard but I’d rather find a scoring option through the portal tbh.
-

And who out of Jalen Wilson, Christian Braun, Gradey Dick, MJ Rice, or Zuby Ejiofor is he better than? He’s not a need and KU can find prospects like that in every class or the portal if they need that in a class.
I’m going to disagree with others that say KU needs another guard because unless someone transfers, KU’s going to have 4 on the roster next season (Harris, Yesufu, Pettiford, and Cuffe). KU needs a low post player that can score because Udoh and Adams aren’t offensive threats at all and Clemence is a face up player.
-
Out of the 4 guards you listed who do you trust to make a shot from anywhere. Limited bunch imo from what we have seen this yr. Cuffe being an unknown but film on him as a Sophomore was more of a defensive pest with elite athleticism.
If Jalen and Braun return then I agree he isn’t a need. If one or both leave then it’s a different discussion. Shown some really good shooting this year for Sunrise.
The best shooter on this team next yr could be a freshman which I’m not sure is a recipe for success
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 It’s going to be very difficult to add a post player if the roster has Udeh, Zach, KJ, Zuby, Cam Martin and JWill. Just from a numbers perspective that is a lot of post players even if JWill is more of a perimeter post player/big guard. I wouldn’t mind adding such a player, but I think it would require processing someone. That Bill didn’t try to add this kind of player last off-season to give us anything behind Dave was somewhat baffling.
I do think JWill is still leaving though, from what I have heard.
Cuffe is at a minimum another year away. Will be interesting to see what he decides to do.
Bill talked about wanting to sign 5 in the fall and all the missed targets were guards and for the most part bigger guards. Seems to be something they are after we will have to see if it comes to fruition.

Believe that Braun will be back.
Hopefully continued development from Dajuan, Bobby and Joe. Bill definitely isn’t benching Dajuan and sees Bobby as a big part of the future of the program so I do think we are rolling with those 3 as the rotation for the 2 guard spots.
Next year I think they will have to hang their hat on defense. Might take a bit to be good but I like the athletes we are bringing in.

I just don’t think IF J alen does stay I just don’t think you ever try to play him at the 5 - -just a really bad fit with his defense all your gonna do is get him a quick hook because of foul trouble and having to set and taking a scoring option away from us - -If Jalen does stay he needs to stay where he is much better we need point production and you not getting any benefit from him on either end of the court if you play him at the 5 - -foul trouble on the defensive end and have a hard time trying to score over the top of athletic bigs on the offensive end
I know I’m in the minority by far with Cam BUT I would really like to see him at least gt some kind of a chance next year .I know people say he isn’t athletic enough but hell we got that problem now got talent but not that teir athlete - would love to see him pull opposition out of the lane stretch the floor - I know won’t happen but wish they would at least give him a look. - - they finally gave Joe a look - -hell give Cam a legit chance /minutes a game turn him loose let him play - but anyway

@BShark Jalen in the draft? Or transfer?

Last I heard was professional basketball of some sort. I think if he came back to college it would just be staying at KU.
