New 2019 Recruiting

KU will get guys, not worried about that. The only one on that list that KU has a shot at is Stanley though, and I still think he ends up at Oregon but him not signing yesterday was good.
-
We still have a great shot at Hurt. Get him and everything is dandy.
-
@BShark In the spring if it looks like Doke and Dedric are gone (and SDS is not eligible)…don’t you think that helps our chances with Hurt? Of course, we don’t know what he or his family thinks about the FBI mess.

Well it is coming to Christmas – -doesn’t hurt to have a wish list lol. - -I was thinking about the same thing , I’ve made my post on this , came from 247 - -were not leading for anyone that is left other then Hurt Nnaji we are even right now - -other then that we got NOTHING. - - I mean ya sure Stanley has thought about us- -but to think we are pulling him off the Coast doesn’t look good. - -other then that - - no one is eve mentioning us. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Dotson is coming back so no top pg prospect will be coming. Too much mystery in the post for a big time post player to commit at this point - Dedrick?, Dok?, McCormack? DeSousa??? Otherwise Mitch isn’t scaring anyone off. That leaves the wing - I’m not sure why a big time wing prospect hasn’t considered KU for 19 considering Bill’s track record at the position. Grimes should be gone. Only Garret and KJ returning means big minutes are up for grabs for an elite wing talent.
When playing time is obviously open is when KU does it’s best recruiting. Kids just don’t come seem to Kansas as often to sit on the bench as they will Kentucky.
-
@dylans Well stated.
-
As far as wings, staff seems high on Agbaji who they are stashing to have ready for next season. Agree though we somehow missed on almost every other blue chip wing we went after. Stanley is a wing imo in Self’s offense so maybe a miracle happens and we get him.
We blew the Sam Williamson recruitment, that should have been the wing KU has in the fold right now. Missed on Jalen Wilson because we didn’t sink our teeth enough to beat Michigan for him. I think he’s a future pro in time. Achiuwa & Josh Green were always pipe-dreams. We got Braun who they like as an interchangeable perimeter option and he’s 6’5, 6’6 and might still be growing.
Self has his work cut out for him in the upcoming months

I was kind of seeing the spring cupboard as somewhat bare.
Hope – we get Matthew Hurt and a helpful grad transfer. We’ll likely lose Dedric, Doke, Grimes, Vick – uh, pretty much our whole starting lineup.
Dotson, Moore, Garrett, Mitch, McCormack. Right?
Agree, its bare right now. @BShark could be right about the staff trying to recruit Dedric or Doke at season’s end to stay in some way. Both in similar situations that Frank, Devonte & Svi were in after their Jr years. The NBA is not drooling over them no matter what they do this year. You get one of them to pair with Dotson and its about maximizing the talent around those two.
Hurt would be a huge signing in the post if the Dedric/Doke boat is a lost cause. KU would still need a 4th big which is where the Silvio situation factors in. I would like to think by spring KU knows what its dealing with for Silvio. A Hurt/Silvio/Mitch/McCormack 4 stack is not the worst combination we’ve had.
Outside of the post situation being in flux we really need an impact guard. Losing Grimes/Vick will really sting. Garrett, Moore, KJ not going to cut it. Cassius Stanley would help some but he comes with his shortcomings as well. Probably ranked as high as he is because he’s an elite athlete but not even close to the all around players that Grimes/Vick are right now.
At least Self’s recruiting message should be clear and resonate with kids in the spring. He’ll have starters minutes to hand out. Can’t beat that unless the FBI thing still looms

@BeddieKU23 @jayballer73 @FarmerJayhawk @Kcmatt7 Nugget from Scott Chasen.
“An interesting post-game note… Dedric Lawson shouted out his little brother. I asked him in a smaller session what he thought of the announcement (Chandler Lawson committed to Oregon). He said that Chandler wanted to be a Jayhawk but they weren’t able to make that fit work.”
-
Makes sense. KU wasn’t that interested because Chandler isn’t that good.
-
He is pretty good but you have to be better than that to get meaningful playing time at KU.
-
We are struggling to get kJ mins

Agree and Chandler is not as good as KJ therefore this decision.
-
@BShark who’s your new avi?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Errol Flynn.
Thought you’d be old enough.
-
@BShark Looks more like Jeff Daniels!

Yes! Well spotted. Used to watch these movies with my grandma (rip).

The Miles hire can only help basketball recruiting. Fall visits become a lot more fun with a full Memorial and the Hatter on the sideline.

Short and lacking explosion. But he has touch around the rim and we have had worse.
-
@Kcmatt7 Yeah, my first reaction when he was brought up before KU was recruiting him was “meh”. But it’s not like Self has a ton of options right now. Pretty clear the ship has sailed with Zeke.
-
Well just don’t count us out YET on Zeke. - -Know been said Zeke’s family nervous about this FBI thing -BUT when I was doing my troll thing - scoping out other message boards,
N Carolina fans a lot think they just got in to late , and some posters said that Zeke and them left from the recruiting visit early - like left to go home eany Saturday instead of staying the 3 days, - -Now is there any truth to that? - -who know for sure - -but that is what’s on their board. - -I haven’t seen the fat lady yet - - -haven’t heard her singing yet - -so guess we will find out Friday , MAYBE – just MAYBE we can pull him off yet. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Wiseman is announcing tomorrow on ESPN. Of course he’s going to Memphis but still newsworthy.

Not so fast, Evan Playah Daniels put in a UK CB.
But yeah, probably Memphis. Either them or UK as it always was.
-
Woah. That would be devastating for Memphis.

Yes it was me. Just seemed like the type of recruit we get involved with. But I’m not impressed with film. He looks like he can shoot a little at least as a big

Playah changed his pick to Memphis lol.

A+ post.

This is the year the Squid loses favor at Tucky. Those preseason number 1 rankings have the Blue Herd in a frothing frenzy after Dook. Wiseman reminds us that he’s starting to miss out on players that used to be a cinch. He’s losing a step, and his teams look pretty mediocre. The Herd won’t stand for another bad season.
-
@KUSTEVE It’s going to be really interesting to see where Cal goes for bigs…he needs at least two most likely more. Currently has ZERO.
-
I don’t think Cal losing Wiseman is a that big of a deal long term recruiting for Cal. Penny was his HS coach, is a Memphis legend coaching at Memphis now. Penny flipping Wiseman was not surprising and I think we’re going to see Penny close the border around Memphis the same way Cal did when he was there.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I expected him to miss on Wiseman. The point is he has now missed on a bunch of top post targets and things don’t look good on remaining prospects.
-
@BShark Self had a bad stretch in recruiting as well in 2012 and 2013 with a lot of missed guard targets. It ultimately worked out with Mason and Graham, but neither were anywhere near the top of Self’s target list.
I really don’t think it’ll end up being a bad thing for Cal to miss out on OAD boys fir a couple of years. He’ll end up with some program guys and his title team was mostly returning players. With the OAD rule likely going away with the next NBA CBA, having upperclassmen won’t be a bad thing for Cal.
-
Kahlil Whitney still hasn’t signed with UK. Will sign in the spring.
@FarmerJayhawk You hearing anything on this?
-
@BShark I have no clue but I would guess part of Kentucky’s problem recruiting bigs right now is the depth they have at the position. Nobody has any idea who is going to be there next year. Obviously Travis is gone, but other than that there isn’t any lottery picks so they could all come back. I wouldn’t be surprised if all of Richards, Montgomery, and a Washington all left or all came back.
-
Well even though seems like a lot of people now saying it’s a forgone conclusion that Nnaji is going to commit to N Carolina , I think I’ll just go ahead and hang on t that sliver 0f possibility of hope - till the announcement tomorrow.- -For sure no reason to other then just because. - -Just think it’s seems a lil just be off/funny that Evan Daniels has yet to make his CB for N Carolina , he is usually pretty good , and most other analysts seem to follow his lead. - - -. – -He usually doesn’t post a CB until after he has gotten word from the recruit or his parents leaked out to him BEFORE others then is when he usually post his CB
So I think I’ll just hang on and even at this late date in his recruitment - -KU still is showing an edge in the CB - not saying at all that he isn’t going to commit to UNC - -but just going to ride it out - -bring back the lone ranger. and slap that fat lady , one way or another we shall see Tomorrow -have a great night my friends. - . - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY -
-
So did I miss it OR did Stanley not sign in the early period? - -IF he didn’t commit early then I would think that should help us . I would think. Think that would mean were still in the game , cause if he was going to Sign or knew that he was going to commit to Oregon or UCLA then he would of done that now. - -so were still there. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

He did not, and yes it is good for KU.
-
Daniels just put in a pick for Zona. Seems like Zeke has kept this pretty tight and not many leaks. Should now ninth eject 30 minutes.
-
Arizona it is for Zeke.
-
Zona now has the #1 ranked class for 2019. Doing just fine in the wake of the FBI stuff.

All will crumble in the spring

ya it’s just crazy how they have re grouped after this FBI thing in their following year - - must have gotten afresh shipments of Thousand Dollar bills in lmao
-
It seems AZ has been under the radar since the payment thing last spring. The so-called recording never surfaced, nothing happened to Miller and that whole thing just died.
KU, on the other hand, is front and center. KU needs another trial and serious incriminating evidence against AZ, Duke, Oregon or someone in order to make this aura of “cheating” to settle down. Also, SDS becoming eligible would go a long way!
-
Arizona has a former assistant on trial in the spring.
But man, they are still out there dropping bags. Wild.
-
Yes… I don’t get why we are apparently hurt by the FBI thing and Zona keeps rolling along. Man.
