Do the “Unofficial Visit” players spend time with current players, get tours, etc? Other than paying their own way, what’s the difference? Thanks in advance!

They’re in town for a shorter period of time. A lot of guys within driving distance just come for the the event and the next morning.

Don’t feel bad , looks to me however you try twisting this around , doesn’t matter how many angles blinking of the eye’s - -reference ( I dream of Genie ) - - - - twitching of the nose ( Bewitched ) - -Or clicking of the ruby red slippers - ( the wizard of Oz ) - I just can’t get it to work out as a solid recruit - -a Kansas commit. - -The kid just doesn’t have it - not at a School like KU - still scratching my head trying to see WHAT I’M MISSING.
I know this sounds like a knock on the kid - - and it’s not - it really isn’t - -I mean sure he has a few skills BUT KU skills? - -the typical recruit that KU is in the mix/hunt for? - - - ummmm no. - -If you look at his jumper if that is what it is - -seems to me at least half of the shots were flat footed set shots - THAT’S not going to get it done in College - -not extremely quick - -so where is it at?
He would be a good player at say like a little lesser known a little lower maybe like just for College Wise like say Murray State - - or maybe New Mexico State - -or Liscomb - - -or Austin Peay Schools of that Caliber - I just don’t see and I’ve tried looking multiple times - I just don’t see it. - -Then again that’s why Coach Self is at where he is at and I’m at where I’m at lol. - - -ROCKCHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@jayballer73 Before KU got involved he was believed to be a pretty big Missouri lean. I mentioned it in the recruiting thread earlier I think but his older brother is on the team this year and his mom is a Missouri grad.

He has a lot of D-1 offers. Its hard to evaluate him off highlights alone but we know his shortcomings immediately. Self wants shooters, he needs shooters. It’s extremely unlikely that he’d help next years squad but I think a lot of teams probably see his value down the line…

The end of the OAD might be coming sooner than expected and the better players might no longer be available to play college ball so the recruiting game will change quite a bit with lower ranked players becoming hotter commodities.

@JayHawkFanToo yeah guys ranked 20-50 should be a hot commodity for KU going forward. #200-500 not so much. Braun is a head scratcher.

@JayHawkFanToo I think there is a big difference and McBride is a lot better. Rankings wise they are similar right now though.

Kind of along the lines you talk about. - There has been talk like with this yrs class , this isn’t as deep of a class as far as talent but yet that a school can take a player in the 40-50 range that is still going to be a pretty good talented kid - so you could very easily see that more especially this year

No way a recruit of his stature is paying his own way. I added him to officials based on a Shay article saying it is an official after searching on twitter.

Don’t those West Coast players tend to stay in the West Coast? I see UCLA, USC, Arizona and Arizona State are recruiting him.

They tend to, just like kids from the northeast tend to stay there. Roy had great success in getting kids from out there though.

He has a final 6.
Arizona, Kansas, Oregon, Texas, UCLA and USC
And it’s believed the 4 main players are USC (favorite), KU, UT and Oregon. UCLA has three commits that are guards/wings.

Here are the details for the Kansas men’s basketball team’s 34th annual 2018 Late Night in the Phog at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence:
Date: Friday, Sept. 28
Time: 6:30 p.m.
TV: Jayhawk Network (ESPN+ streaming, KMCI [Channel 38] in KC area, or Cox Cable elsewhere in Kansas)
Doors open: 4:30 p.m. for students, 5 p.m. for general public
Admission: Free
Looks like the Wichita/Hutchinson area should be able to get it on Cox 2022. Fingers crossed

makes more sense so the KU Coaching Staff could give him more of their undivided attention - -spend more time with him - instead of a night like late night where your dealing with 11 - -12 --13- -kids or so. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Does anyone know how effective Late Night really is? I’m just curious if this really is a better visit than 1 on 1s during an actual game? To me it seems weird. But we don’t have a ton of 2019 guys coming, so maybe it’s a great thing if a couple of them really hit it off.

@Kcmatt7 depends on the kid really. It hooked Jo and Wayne immediately. I think we also get a lot of guys who want to see the spectical for an official but don’t really have serious interest in KU.

Per Adam Zagoria, Hampton’s dad said RJ will not be attending Late Night.
“He won’t attend Kansas’ ‘Late Night in the PHog,’ but will be at the USA Basketball minicamp in Colorado Springs, Col., Oct 5-7, and will then visit Kentucky for Big Blue Madness Oct. 12.”

Well I agree but rj has no bearing on that. Stanley is a flashy name but mcbride could easily have a better impact long term.
