Late Night Visitor List
-
@JayHawkFanToo yeah guys ranked 20-50 should be a hot commodity for KU going forward. #200-500 not so much. Braun is a head scratcher.
-
How about this kid, Isaac McBride?
-
@JayHawkFanToo I think there is a big difference and McBride is a lot better. Rankings wise they are similar right now though.

Kind of along the lines you talk about. - There has been talk like with this yrs class , this isn’t as deep of a class as far as talent but yet that a school can take a player in the 40-50 range that is still going to be a pretty good talented kid - so you could very easily see that more especially this year

I hope he doesn’t become a necessary take.
-
List is growing and getting to be pretty impressive.
-
Cassisus Stanley is making a visit for Late Night.

Edited in to OP. Thanks.

I’d assume Stanley’s is official. Good job Self!

No way a recruit of his stature is paying his own way. I added him to officials based on a Shay article saying it is an official after searching on twitter.
Also found this GEM: https://twitter.com/AlanPattersonMD/status/1040225401992294401
Indiana isn’t even recruiting him, maybe someone should tell him lmao.
-
Don’t those West Coast players tend to stay in the West Coast? I see UCLA, USC, Arizona and Arizona State are recruiting him.
-
They tend to, just like kids from the northeast tend to stay there. Roy had great success in getting kids from out there though.

He has a final 6.
Arizona, Kansas, Oregon, Texas, UCLA and USC
And it’s believed the 4 main players are USC (favorite), KU, UT and Oregon. UCLA has three commits that are guards/wings.
-
Do we know where this will be televised? ESPN+ I assume.
-
@Kcmatt7 Also channel 38 if you are close enough to KC.
-
I couldn’t find it listed on espn+

Here’s what I found:

Here are the details for the Kansas men’s basketball team’s 34th annual 2018 Late Night in the Phog at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence:
Date: Friday, Sept. 28
Time: 6:30 p.m.
TV: Jayhawk Network (ESPN+ streaming, KMCI [Channel 38] in KC area, or Cox Cable elsewhere in Kansas)
Doors open: 4:30 p.m. for students, 5 p.m. for general public
Admission: Free
Looks like the Wichita/Hutchinson area should be able to get it on Cox 2022. Fingers crossed
-
It’s on my guide. i still couldn’t find it on espn+ on the search. I actually have a ticket to go, but I have a torn meniscus and the stairs, especially going down, cause me great pain. I’ve been debating it. Thx for info!
-
Prayers for your son. Hope you get to go!
-
@bcjayhawk me!
-
Hurt?
-
@wrwlumpy we must think he would appreciate a visit on his own.
-
So Hurt is not coming this weekend?
-
He hasn’t scheduled any OVs yet. I would bet money on him coming during a basketball game.

makes more sense so the KU Coaching Staff could give him more of their undivided attention - -spend more time with him - instead of a night like late night where your dealing with 11 - -12 --13- -kids or so. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Does anyone know how effective Late Night really is? I’m just curious if this really is a better visit than 1 on 1s during an actual game? To me it seems weird. But we don’t have a ton of 2019 guys coming, so maybe it’s a great thing if a couple of them really hit it off.
-
@Kcmatt7 depends on the kid really. It hooked Jo and Wayne immediately. I think we also get a lot of guys who want to see the spectical for an official but don’t really have serious interest in KU.
-
@FarmerJayhawk oubre
-
Seems like a pretty good group of players attending, any predictions about anyone signing?
-
Per Adam Zagoria, Hampton’s dad said RJ will not be attending Late Night.
“He won’t attend Kansas’ ‘Late Night in the PHog,’ but will be at the USA Basketball minicamp in Colorado Springs, Col., Oct 5-7, and will then visit Kentucky for Big Blue Madness Oct. 12.”

Been a waste of time since the spring
-
Looks like we may actually need to land McBride.

Well I agree but rj has no bearing on that. Stanley is a flashy name but mcbride could easily have a better impact long term.
-
I don’t know that it impacts RJs decision, but just so we aren’t left out in the cold with only Charlie at PG.
-
@Kcmatt7 lots of options in 2020
-
Not a big deal on Hampton IMO. He came last year and still can come back for another official next fall or for a game. Doesn’t bother me that he wants to watch his friends play football.

You don’t expect Dotson on the roster in 19-20?
-
I expect him in 2019-2020, but not 2020-2021. Would leave us with just a senior Moore unless we landed someone else, right?
And if we don’t land Hampton, the person we do land is likely a program player. So I was just thinking I’d rather have a sophomore McBride coupled with a Senior Moore. And when McBride MIGHT have to take over as the main PG, he would at least be a jr.
But I could be thinking crazy things.
-
@Kcmatt7 what’s the thinking? 2020 is a loooong way off.
-
I can see that happening. I expect at least 2 seasons from Dotson but it could be 3 if we are lucky.
I don’t know if the staff views Moore as a potential starting PG. We’ll see soon enough.
Otherwise I do think it would be beneficial to keep the roster relatively open for elite level talents to come in 2020, a class that has a ton of perimeter talent already popping up. We are likely to have Moore, Garrett, Agbaji & Braun at the minimum so I would think the focus would be on bringing in elite talent to mix in. A lot will change between even this fall and the spring recruiting wise
-
Also read off Zagsblog - - - -that Elijah Woods a 2020 kid from Sunrise Acad will also be here on an un-official a 6’5 point guard from Potomac MD # 102 has 22 offers at present. - - EH - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@jayballer73 Yeah, all of Sunrise will be there.
-

I know there are some big names , but does anyone feel like this is a smaller group than usual?
Maybe it’s just me.
- I remember Matt Scott saying the staff actually prefers to do OV not on Late Night so that they have more one on one time with kids.

They still like to do that
