Council may not have started his career as a Jayhawk, but his actions against Missouri amd KSU show he's fully bought in and been converted into a true Jayhawk.
Some proof he's fully bought in. That dance he did, which I didn't really understand what he is doing is a lot of proof he's bought in it turns out. Not being from here I didn't realize the Wabash was a dance that Kstate fans do at football games.
There's a thread on twitter on how the KState players didn't respond at all to Tre's dunk, or even Melvins dance. They blamed the portal for players who don't seem to care. Well Melvin's been in here for less than one season and he already knows about this rivalry because that dance was a classic in your face moment, and he even turned it into a steal that led to the dunk.

Attendance: 9,111 that was a poor showing for little brother!!!!
Weather plus a largely deflated fanbase. Definitely shockingly low for a KSU KU game however. Tang can't have long left now..

@wissox83 Apparently they also do it at basketball games, when they don't suck. So it's rare there

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRiCRnK1KqEI grew up in Kansas and still didn't know about it. Probably reflects how much time I spend paying attention to our little sister school.
Now that I understand Melvin's little dance at the end of the game was mocking a cherished K-State tradition, I'm even more amused, and an even greater fan.
-
Yeah he's a dawg. Had to celebrate a little
-
@tundrahok I left the area after graduating. Never heard of the dance until now. I thought their only tradition, replacing "Snob Hill" comments, was the Sandman thing with the F--- KU chant thrown in.
Besides, of couse, chasing chickens when they're drunk and feeling amorous (not the chickens).

Thereβs video that shows tang watching Mel doing the dance and during postgame interview he is poβd about it! So were his players!

27 points in the 2nd half for KState

-
@tundrahok Thanks for the explanation. I saw Melvin's jig at the end and did not understand the significance.
It was a fitting punctuation on the game, which was closer than it should have been... artificially propped up by some servile officiating and deal-with-the-devil 3-point shooting.
Ultimately, we held them under 70 (probably should have held them closer to 50 given their depleted ranks) and ended a streak that never should have started.
That said, any win on the road is a good win. Onward.

Did anyone else think it was weird wearing the home whites in Manhattan? All for it going forward lol

Some good things came out of this game.
Elmarko Jackson with a season high 19 pts and had a pair of big 3's. His play has been improved lately, last five games averaging 9.4 pts, has 8 steals in this stretch. He has really settled in that 6th man role and it seems like he's finally starting to develop. Big game for his confidence.
Self stuck to the 7 man rotation. Mari had an off game where I thought Kohl might get some burn but that didnt happen. Dawson played 15 minutes and had 1 rebound.
Tiller had 16 and 7, his 2nd highest scoring game of the year. He made shots early and was very active all game. The Matchup helped him as he was much bigger but still this was a positive step for him after some struggles in recent games.
Council, White, Bidunga. Studs.
