I like that Dotson had the 2 teams in person to tell them their decision. Follows with what they have done the whole recruitment which is be transparent with the schools they were considering. The one thing that would suck for KU is to fly in and be told we’re not coming to KU…Fly thousands of miles for a big pile of the fat lady’s dooo doo @jayballer54
So far no CB action, really seems like nobody knows. Look for Maryland’s guys to put in for Maryland today because they have nothing to lose at this point. He’s doing it at his school so unlikely its a video announcement which became all the rage yesterday with that twitter follow.
I wish I felt better about this. I really want him but I’m used to the disappointment that recruiting is. There is nothing for finishing 2nd for these kids.

Well holy crap. - -Looks like the Daily Kansan trying to screw up our recruiting royal - -saying the FBI has file/documents on KU and Adidas. Whether true or not couldn’t of come at a worse time with Grimes and Dotson. - -The Kansas asking to see reports or something to that effect. FBI saying they couldn’t release because of on going investigation.

How in the world did the UDK editors let that get published? It is a non story for right now. They got a general document back that basically said we don’t have to give you anything right now. UDK students trying to get people using “Gotcha” journalism tactics by saying this stupid letter somehow contradicts what the school has been saying. So dumb. So so so dumb. This is damn near High School level journalism and we are supposed to be a top Journalism school in the country.

@RockkChalkk Stupid college kids trying to make a name for themselves. I hope that the adviser who oversees them at the very least told them the backlash that SHOULD come from publishing something that really has no merit.
This, if it was anything, was a small clue to a bigger story and shouldn’t have ever been published on it’s own. The had to decide whether they should publish this big nothingbuger now and get a few thousand reads or if they should follow this down into the rabbit hole and potentially get nothing. They took the easy way out. Just a poor, sad job done by the UDK.

The Kansan asked for “all documents and communications within this investigation related to the University of Kansas and any of its sponsorship deals with Adidas or any investigation of Kansas basketball coaches.”
What were they expecting?

Literally any school, especially Adidas schools right now could have their paper make the same request and get the same standard “no” that the UDK just got.

I get reporting news but literally they asked for ALL DOCUMENTS AND COMMUNICATIONS or bits on investigation of coaches within an ACTIVE INVESTIGATION. Again, what were they hoping for? Never going to get it. Even if some documents were available, this is the government we are talking about here. What’s easier to do? Go dig up a document or use literally any excuse to give a 99% boilerplate response. Then to top it off they got rock hard that the FBI acknowledged them with a boilerplate response so they slanted the story to look like they had something.

@BShark Exactly what I was thinking. This is one of those investigations that will literally never close because it is so massive that they can say it is just always ongoing and not have to bother with doing anything besides sending a letter to anyone who inquires.
I want someone to do this for each individual school now and see what comes back. It is just an online form on the FBI website. I may try to when I get home from work.

If Dotson has made up his mind, only he and the family know. They’re not talking to anyone until tomorrow night. I’m sticking with KU because I haven’t seen or heard anything that suggests Maryland passed KU.

The issue as with nearly all other one sided media accounts, including ESPN’s not stop slobbering over the national anthem stuff, is reporting and providing only one side of the story, or giving a cursory, limited, or unintelligible reference to the other side. And not providing a reasonable explanation (in this case) of what their sensationalistic reporting means.

The lazy and biased media now appears to be in a state of publishing anything to get clicks regardless of whether the story has any foundation. It is the proverbial …it is easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission…or in this case…it is easier to publish a story with no facts to back it up and then issue a retraction on the back pages at a later date than to get the story right in the first place. It seems to be the current status of most main stream media and now extended to minor publications. The old style journalism is now a thing of the past.

Personally, I find it hard to believe both would come. There must be buzz about Dotson to Md cause otherwise this dude never would’ve brought it up, but don’t know if I trust what he’s hearing is fact or kids talking. I’m sure Jeff and Josh have heard all kinds of stuff from their local sources and are better at separating fact from rumor than rest of us.
