Somebody had a great point about UNC getting a free pass because the fake classes were available to non athletes as well: does that mean Louisville wouldn’t have been in trouble if they had offered prostitutes to regular students as well?

If I was to ask you, and you were the coach would you be okay with just Charlie Moore at PG. Even further, are you okay with him starting if we indeed did miss on important recruits.
Have you seen him play? Any games? Or just trusting Self here?
I have watched 4 of his games. 2 in the beginning of the year, one vs UCLA and one in the Pac-12 tourney. I feel Self is after Dotson and Grimes with a good bit of “need” not “want” because I think Moore will be better (and ready for a bigger role) when he’s a Junior and Senior.

@BeddieKU23 Maryland fans still think it’s them due to Jeff’s silence. I think either way he went dark to not deal with the maelstrom that is that thread.

The recent one’s I agree.
I do think some of the talk this summer that he was KU’s to lose was legitimate information especially as it leaked out in Vegas in the last tournament Dotson and Zion played in together. From there I don’t think there has been anything floating around enough to sway people in another direction from that.
We all hope the so called experts landed on the right side here…

which happened. with less then an hr to go who knows if anything else will pop up. I think everyone is just waiting for the time of the announcement at this point.

@BeddieKU23 the recent picks are what I meant. I think the crystalballs accuracy is 70+%. I just don’t get excited over every random pick.

Funny–for me the opposite is literally true: I seem to get excited abput picks randomly. Sometimes I am all involved, other times I am singing “Que Sera” with Doris Day, or not following anything. No rhyme or reason to it!

@BeddieKU23 Is he a shiny PG? Or more like the perfect college PG? I’m just genuinely curious. Bill obviously needs to make Dotson a success in order to keep getting high end PGs. But he isn’t Derrick Rose, Kyrie Irving, DeArron Fox, Trevon Duvall or any of those super freaks is he?
If Bill gets Dotson to the NBA in his 2nd year, do we start getting attention from top 10 PGs finally?
I’ve said it over and over, I wonder what Bill Self does with a top 5 PG. I think him and a freak PG would win a NC providing we have our other usual Blue Blood talent around one. But that is just this one man’s opinion.

Once Jayhawk always a Jayhawk. Let’s remember that Mark Turgeon played for KU so he will always be a Jayhawk and as such, he deserves respect and our best wishes. If KU is not going to get a top prospect, I prefer he goes to a school coached by a former Jayhawk.

@BeddieKU23 I haven’t watched the whole games with Charlie, but your “Dotson or the hellhole that is Charlie” are fascinating, imo. How did we get Frank…or Devonte? I don’t think either one of them were our first choice. I have faith that if we miss out on Dotson, we will manage to find another solution that doesn’t necessarily involve Charlie starting. We have an entire season to recruit more talent. Have faith.

Sorry I just have this strong opinion of Dotson. Not only will he help us win but this is a big win for Self as far as recruiting the position in the future. We have been extremely blessed to get Mason and Graham and develop them into what they are. You only strike gold so much with those and its time KU was known for getting good players at all 5 positions instead of being known for wings and bigs.
We’ll see how it goes!

Good points. Realistically I don’t think a freshman PG or Charlie is the answer that best fits what Self wants. Unless Marcus has some PG skill that he gets to show this season we don’t have what I would call the type of player KU needs for next year. I’m in no way dogging Charlie, I’m just holding my opinion that he’s going to be better after the year off, and a year in the rotation. Not all transfers are immediately ready to lead a program such as Kansas

@BeddieKU23 I watched his mix tapes, and he certainly has talent, so I understand. i have learned not to get too high about possible recruits because we’ve been left at the altar enough that I always am looking over my shoulder. If the kid can’t figure out the difference between Maryland and KU, do we really want him?

IMHO, a very good upper class man will generally be better/more productive than a OAD…with a few exceptions, of course.

I don’t think Dotson is a OAD at this point. I expect at least 2 yrs, maybe 3. He’s not a finished prospect yet especially without the elite measureables

@BeddieKU23 That always cracks me up. It is like all my HS friends who went to the same college and lived with each other.
To me, College is the one time in your life you should branch out, get uncomfortable and find yourself. If after 4 years you end up back in the same dinky town at the same local bar hanging out with the same people you did the 4 years before, nothing is wrong with that. But you at least found out that was where you belonged.
I would think the best thing for these players would be to get as far away from anyone with any influence on them, get a little uncomfortable and learn how to battle some adversity. I would think that goes a long ways in building the character for the next level.
