True… but many of these players have had lopsided upbringings. Many of the lessons they should have received often didn’t happen because sports overshadowed many key moments that should have been learning experiences.
It is that way for most young prodigies.
And then there are those cases where players grew up too fast, having to face issues that even few adults ever face.
I think it best to not generalize age and maturity in this case.

Bragg case is “under review” and there is currently no hearing set up with a judge, a Douglas County District Attorney official says.

There is a rumor on Reddit but its not worth sharing for the sake of waiting for all the facts to come out about this situation. If anyone is interested in the rumor check out reddit and search carlton bragg and there’s a thread about it going on. I really hope the info one person shared is not in fact true

@Crimsonorblue22 @RockChalkRedlock He’s what, 6’10"? Strong. That’s physical enough to make him physically imposing to me. On the court he’s going up against similarly built and conditioned people.

From what I have read about Bragg, this seems out of character. I gave the WVU dude the benefit of the doubt on the flagrant foul and I would be dishonest if I don’t do the same with Bragg…at least until all the facts are in.
I am sure Coach Self and staff are on top of the situation and we will have the facts soon enough.

The charges have been changed to show it is a “misdemeanor battery.”
If this is his first charge, the odds are he won’t see any jail time and will pay a fine anywhere between $500 and $2500 and then be on probation for a period of time.

He will appear in court today at 3pm . Hopefully its nothing, I had a friend get arrested for assault for pushing someone that was dismissed. We can hope its something along those lines, to me it would be stupid to waste tax dollars and time to arrest someone for pushing to start with but that’s the way it goes.

Heading into Bragg’s 3 p.m. hearing now, where recording devices are not permitted. Will update after.
Just got the first page of Carlton Bragg’s criminal offense report from the LKPD. Under “type of force/weapon,” “personal weapon” checked.
Following up on this: There was a section for “none” under armed, so I would think this mean weapon involved.

Carlton Bragg, appearing on video, pleads not guilty to charge of misdemeanor battery. Bond set at $500 OR. He will be released.
Bragg will be released after bond at 5 or 6 p.m. His next court date is 1:30 p.m. Dec. 27.

Galloway also reporting:
The offense report indicates Bragg is suspected of using alcohol and drugs or narcotics. It also lists “personal weapon” as the type of force or weapon used.
Sounding worse by the minute.

Personal Weapon can mean hand, foot basically Bragg’s body. Otherwise it would have been aggravated battery

@BeddieKU23 I was more referring to the narcotics reference in terms of getting worse. But pushing your lady down the stairs, if true, at six in the a of the m is not a good scene.

@BeddieKU23 The whole story isn’t out yet. He clearly deserves a major suspension regardless. Just really sad because everything I had heard about him was that he was just the nicest guy. A bunch of my sorority friends used to hang out with him routinely and they all said that.

@BeddieKU23 Interesting that he was supposedly high or drunk. He is smiling ear to ear in his mug shot. He will be out on bond shortly, but the question is does Self allow him to stay with the team til the next court date of December 27 or does he kick him off now.

I’m sure he will be suspended until his court date or when he is/isn’t charged… No other choice for Self at this point. The details of the story make this a serious issue and that will not be tolerated

I will not assume what Self will do but the situation at hand would think regardless of outcome his role on the team will be hard to keep

I don’t think it changes much for the team as he was struggling anyway to find a role. I’m stunned because I thought he was a person who would not get himself into this type of situation. We will see more of Lightfoot and situations where 2 bigs without the ability to stretch the floor on the court.

@Fightsongwriter well, to me at least, it is more defensable at 1 am. If you will hear out my reasoning.
At 6 am it would have seemed to be a select few people still awake and this would have seemed much more intentional, at least in they way I see it. Like pretty much only one way it could have gone down.
At 1 am, who knows what all could have happened. There are a lot more scenarios where Bragg doesn’t look like he was being a terrible person.
That is all I guess I was trying to say.

Interesting that Joe Davis is saying he doesn’t deserve to be Jayhawk. I agree if proven guilty but kinda jumping the gun IMO.

He was and it’s not close. He was the only post player that could stretch the floor. With our current 4 bigs it’s a huge liability offensively to have two of them on the floor at once.

I don’t think we see two bigs out there at once that often at all now. I’ll be interested to see the post minute distribution tomorrow.

Yeah he really shouldn’t play until it’s sorted even if he is completely innocent.

I will guess he will suspended but not expelled from the team, doing so would send a message of guilt and I know Coach Self would not do this to a player. After the Court date and if he is found guilty then all bets are off. Just my take.

@JayHawkFanToo You are probably correct, that’s what most logical people would do suspend indefinitely until the matter is resolved. One other thing to think about is CJ Giles was kicked off the team for this type of stuff, Mario Little was not but his GF dropped charges if I remember correctly.
