Mayo showed better tonight for one

After a totally lost sports year I’m so ready to watch a winning team. Hopefully this years version goes deep into the postseason. I’m starved for some success. Not entirely sold on this crew yet, but getting healthier will help. Tonight sounds like a typical exhibition match. Some good, some bad.
-
@tundrahok none in fb either. Could be because we aren’t at home. Fb.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 We’ll see Monday.

Anybody know why there isn’t a pre or post game anymore?
There is on radio, do you mean espn+?
-
@BShark Yes, Gueldner is a gem. Straight talk with just enough snark to be hilarious.
-
@tundrahok who’s the other guy? Forgot
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Dave Stewart. Their rapport is good.
-
@tundrahok I like the gal that interviews the players.
-
@Kcmatt7 That team didn’t exist according to the NCAA
-
@BShark not a Chiefs fan?

Well, looks like we can shoot!
I really have no clue who will start after Hunter, Dajuan and we all presume KJ. Maybe it will be a revolving door based on practice?
Storr has been the invisible man to me so far. He needs caffeine, motivation or something.
Glad to see the positive outcome.
-
I thought Storr played with effort the last 12 minutes or so. If that dunk attempt goes down that would have been a nice Hello moment to KU basketball. He made a great read on a Mayo drive where he could have shot the 3 instead gave it back to him in the corner for the better shot. There were more glimpses of buy-in last night I saw then in the Arkansas game at least.
In general, was pleased with the effort shown in the 2nd half even when the score was already well in hand. Coit, Mayo and Griffen all showed they are more than capable 3-point shooters and I can see lineups where floor spacing will work better than what we saw last year.
If Moore and Hunt play Monday it will be our first glimpse of the full team.
-
-
@BeddieKU23 Storr and Kease both tried to blow the roof off the place. Love to see it, none of our guards last year are attempting that.
-
First time I haven’t watched, listened or checked the score multiple times of a KU basketball game since probably 1996. I figure we’d win by 30 or 40 and I’m so burnt out on KU athletics at the moment with how last weekend looked.
-
@kjayhawks I’m done with football again. Lance is a whiner and a scam artist. To turn in this season after playing the AD the last two offseasons.
-
I didn’t even know they played last night. Thought you guys were playing some fantasy game in your heads.

Not when KU is on
I couldn’t do that. The Chiefs are legit good and KU kinda looks like a pretender.
1/17 of a season vs a game against Howard. I wear a KU basketball T-shirt and hat everyday, but even I know what is more relevant big picture.
Kansas is an over ranked, not yet congealed basketball team composed of a group of guys I hardly recognize due to modern recruiting turning KU into Kentucky lite. Hard to care about all the one year college players. If this is the ongoing trend for a few more seasons, college ball is going to lose me. I like watching freshmen turn into upperclassmen that have developed over their careers like DeJuan and KJ or even opponents that have been around and killing KU forever, but Storr, Coit, Mayo, Griffen, miss state guy and whomever I’m forgetting do nothing for me.
It’s like Remmy - probably don’t win without him, but he is completely forgettable; just a glory seeker - I think of Dave and Och and Harris and Wilson and all the long time players and as an after thought I occasionally remember Remmy who helped make it possible. But mostly I think about him hamming it up on the front of the national championship picture - me first type of guy.
I will learn to appreciate and care for some of the short term guys. It’s just not very palatable at the moment.
-
Understandable. The NFL is generally a very good product but I even like college football more than it typically for the chaos.
-
Howdy All!!
My main takeaway was:
I think Coach did a hell of a job during the off season in getting us real shooters AND scorers! Wasn’t that fun compared to what we had last year? A reliable BUCKET getter! And he got us 3 guys that are blessed to be there and after hearing the post game remarks, just want to contribute, be it starter or off the bench. I see the competition in practice being intense to earn Coach’s trust. Diggy has to be the coolest name we have had, and we have had some doozies! See you Friday.

Sure looks like we got some shooters/scorers spacing on the floor gonna be a lot better, should open the inside for Hunte a lot better , Mayo looked more comfortable. Diddy is a big bonus , kid can fill it up , I worried about him being able to g his shot being 5’8 but he does a good job finding space - -lots like he has a quick release - -I think Bill found a hidden jewel, Just love his approach— Solid- —Griffen was fine we got like 4 pretty decent shooters for 3 pt
I think the two let downs for me and people should know from here how I try to defend Juan BUT to me he just looked terrible last night. TWICE that I know of he dribbled right into a trap back to back and turnovers really bad with the ball, not going to cut it-- -that’s just one example, got to get a grip on it. - -Then 2nd? — -ZACH , ZACH , ZACH-- -mercy I just don’t see here there are many minutes all all for him. Just so out of control- -just doesn’t fit. I at one time thought it’s ok he will improve - -he hasn’t improved, only minutes I can see is mop up minues with walk on at the end— - he just doesn’t have it
I

Yeah know it is just Washburn, but doesn’t look like the offense is going to be an issue this year at least. I only caught a portion of the game but seemed like anytime we could get KJ driving, good things happened. Wouldn’t be surprised if he averaged close to 5 assists this year
-
@BShark ya it’s more so on football than basketball at this point for sure. Too early to know much with this group, I’m worried about our lack of athleticism. Wonder if Case is the main guy that finds guys but we just don’t look athletic against big time schools, didn’t last year either.
-
@jayballer67 I’m glad somebody noticed the 6th year senior getting trapped by literal d2 players and turning it over looking like a freshman.
Hey @BShark the d2 statement was yet again proven true
RJ Davis is gonna hurt us next week and we are going to turn it over a ton just like against Arkansas. If the team has any athleticism or quickness at the guard spot we are fighting an uphill battle.
Our leaders for turnovers are the 5th year PF and 6th year PG against a literal D2 team.
Self’s roster construction is comical
Need AFH and the fans to save us next week

I couldn’t do that. The Chiefs are legit good…
What? We agree on something? Better recheck what you wrote!

I’ve been told the Chiefs are bad by the talking heads, worst 7-0 team ever!
-
@BShark Yeah. Worse than that 11-0 Pittsburgh team or the 6-0 chiefs a few years back. Definitely worst than those teams. lol gotta love the hyperbole. The Chiefs aren’t winning the way the media wants, Spags is cookin’!

Yeah they are bored and it’s easy/free engagement. In general, I’ve never felt more comfortable about Chiefs games. They simply know how to win.
-
@BShark I can’t wait to see a fully engaged Chiefs team.
