UNLV - Any Bets?
-
Gonna be an interesting year. At least my expectations are in order
-
Well at least I know what to do with my expectations.
-
This is an embarrassment sorry but it is
-
Wish we could downvote every “embarrassment” comment

I’m sorry but something has to change here, either QB or coach. You can call me a negative Nancy if you want but this is terrible. JD has to put the ball in the air and give us a chance
Tonight was much more on JD than Grimes.
-
Expectations were so high…. Daniels is lost. Why can’t KU football have nice things?
-
Embarrassing. Back to back weeks where JD throws back breaking interceptions that totally turn the game around. Should be 3-0.
-
@rcjhdraft just don’t turn the ball over and we easily win
-
@rcjhdraft At least he is still smiling
-
Why does JD have 3 TDs and 6 ints this year? What the hell has changed?

I think he’s putting too much pressure on himself trying to make up for last season and playing to the preseason hype.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I won’t argue that both are an issue
-
Just crazy, this is the same kid that threw 18 TDs and 4 Interceptions his sophomore year.
-
@DanR why?
-
Whatever this offense is, something had to change. Grimes or JD. It simply is not meshing.
This is a game KSU wins. They recover that fumble. We don’t.
It’s why we are little brother in football. I hate it. Until we do the little things we will continue to be a joke.
Funding-wise this ets KUFB back significantly. They likely don’t make a bowl game. Back to being a joke/irrelevant team.
Only bright side here is LL won’t get offered to leave this offseason.
-
We snatched defeat from the jaws of victory
-
@Kcmatt7 that’s the biggest issue this will set back recruiting years and the portal will be full of Jayhawks
-
@kjayhawks if they don’t make a bowl game they’ll lose a month of practice too:
NIL funding is going to go very dry without a turnaround.
Very very very bad start to the season. A win in Morgantown would change the rhetoric, but damn.
-
0-0 mentality folks. The Big 12 is a one big league and we can turn this thing around. /ducks
-
Did they lose to UNLV? Wow, haven’t checked the score yet, but the comments clear it up. Whelp, really wish I had been wrong about KU football, but damn glad I didn’t get my hopes up.
-
@FarmerJayhawk I wish I had your optimism friend
-
@dylans we lost to ourselves……again
-
@FarmerJayhawk not sure that works anymore. That was the saying last week. 5-4 to make a bowl game. Could happen, but it feels like best case scenario at this point.
-

This team is 3-0 if they literally do not throw a pass the first 3 weeks. It is the exact type of thing KUFB can’t escape. Laughing stock type of stuff.
It is so stereotypical KUFB. K-State finds a way to win these two games and KU doesn’t. It is what defines our program.
-
@kjayhawks I have to. My day job is policy/politics so I have to stay a little optimistic elsewhere or, as the great American philosopher Metallica said, “frayed ends of sanity, hear them calling me” lol
-
@Kcmatt7 it has to be. Win next week and we’re in as good a shape as anyone to win the league. That’s all that matters for that game. It’s cliche but learn what you can from the non-con then throw it out. Our goals are still achievable.
-
@Kcmatt7 and to elaborate a bit, if you’re Lance and say hey we just have to go 6-6, you lose the team. It’s over. He’s got to be the one saying hey, we can still do this. Correct X,Y,Z and we’ll beat WVU. It also has the benefit of being true but you can’t dial back goals now. Thats a recipe for 09 redux
-
@FarmerJayhawk one of the things I’ll say is with it being so early in the season maybe UNLV and Illinois are good teams and we just don’t know it yet. I just dislike losing games we should’ve won. Average OC or QB at this level and we are undefeated.
-
@kjayhawks yeah, UNLV was getting AP votes and buzz for making the playoff.
I AM NOT SAYING THEY ARE GOOD LOSSES
But all is not lost.
-
One thing that should be added to a rule book- if you obviously fake an injury, that should be a 15 yard penalty. They are now calling Ts for flopping in basketball, this is in the same boat.
-
@FarmerJayhawk sure if you’re in the locker room. But that isn’t a realistic fan perspective.
-
Well crap. Just finished watching. I’m speechless but not speechless at the same time.
Steamed.
Just like last week, as the game progressed, I felt there was no way we could lose. We clearly seemed the superior team.
Then JD crapped the bed multiple times and situational awareness went out the window. Do coaches not actually coach these players and tell them what’s important in that moment???
I would assume on the last first half drive before the JD interception a coach or two would say:
“JD, no need to be a hero here. We have a nice lead and we can keep it even if we don’t get a first down. Take what they give you. Be smart.”
JD: “OK coach, I’ll throw it randomly into double coverage to a guy who isn’t open.”
Wtf??? Why JD? Maintain the lead and momentum! My god.
HUGE lack of Situational awareness. Idiotic.
Random thought amid rant: Coach Grimes, PLEASE throw that interception waiting to happen WR screen play out of the playbook. Pretty please. Now. You won’t regret it.
The near fumble recovery. Hard play, not easy to totally fault this one as lack of situational awareness, but defenders, we’re winning! Fall on the freaking fumbled ball! Again, no need to be a hero!
Another comedy of errors. No reason to lose that game.
Wait, as I write this news breaks even after the game: JD with yet another unnecessary pick!
Is coaching to blame here? Or is JD that dumb?
He made some good plays today! That’s the sad part.
Unbelievable loss in a great atmosphere.
So steamed. But I guess it’s Kansas football. We should know better? Was last year a fluke?
-
@Kcmatt7 oh you’re not wrong there. Kelly was right, our fans are fickle. For good reason but we miiiggggt get 45k to Arrowhead
-
@FarmerJayhawk I’m worried there will be about 9 people in arrowhead. ISU will have more fans than Kansas for that game.
-
@kjayhawks honestly I think ISU was always going to show out for that one. Those folks LOVE Kansas City
-
@FarmerJayhawk they didn’t fill the stadium tonight tbh. Open seats galore. 45k if they’re lucky enough to get a good ISU showing. Will be lucky to sniff 30k most games.
Kelly is welcome to go live in Lincoln, Nebraska. They’ve done nothing to expect anything other than fickle support. Sign a buyout worthy of commitment and I’ll double my Williams fund and NIL contributions.
-
I just randomly thought of a Mark Mangino press conference after we were destroyed by KSU 64-0. He was saying there was zero excuses for a D1 quarterback to play that way. That they were done making excuses. They weren’t letting anyone take their pride and Dignity anymore. Maybe LL needs to take that approach.
I’ve watched us get spanked many times in memorial stadium but this honestly is one of the worst feelings I’ve ever had as a KU football fan. One of the easiest schedules in FBS returning loads of talent. I’m not sure I can convince myself to want anything to do with Kansas football anymore. With the hype around this team less than 8 wins sets us back several years and cripples all the momentum. You may as well fire everyone and start fresh with the new stadium.
-
@Kcmatt7 yeah history matters A LOT for these things. We just don’t have it yet. We don’t disagree on this point but I did talk to some folks in the AD a week ago and seat demand at the new place is good. Which makes it so important to finish strong here. We need suites on the east side (and then some) to get this thing done right
-

Did you even understand what he was trying to accomplish there? We looked totally lost on getting that play going, and he’s doing that? Why?
-
@wissox ya I have zero idea why didn’t snap it as soon as he was obviously faking. It goes back to Grimes and the offense just being out of sorts often. Man I feel bad for Neal he likely hurt his draft stock on a 1-11 team when most places had him as 4th or 5th rounder last season.
-
I must have missed this fake injury, or was too steamed at the moment to notice. When? What happened?
-
I feel really stupid for telling friends around here who don’t really know much of KU football nor care either, that: “This year KU is really talented and has a favorable schedule and could actually go undefeated. They’ll probably lose a tight one or two, but this team is really full of exciting playmakers”
Well was I wrong!
There is some twitter noise on the goal line stand 4th down play that the officials just made it all up what happened there. The person tweeting it wasn’t a KU fan but just thought we got screwed on that one. Shouldn’t come down to us needing help from an official, but it was a largely looming play.
@rockchalkjayhawk The UNLV guy just fell down. Really didn’t understand it. Announcers were calling it flop of the year, etc. Well I think our team is the flop of the year!
-
@wissox the original 4th down that they got by 2 inches was a joke. He was stuffed for 6 seconds and then went forward. If the play wasn’t dead it was a fumble because as soon as he got it, we stripped him. The officials were almost as bad as us. The PI call was wrong, if the ball was uncatchable, by rule it can only be holding. If you watched the OSU vs Arkansas game, they picked up 2 flags in the exact same situation. It that was truly a penalty you could just under throw every play. I also rewatched JDs scramble, he got the first down or was with in a few inches he sure as hell was no where near 2 yards short. We lost this on our own but these guys make 6 figures a year and should have some accountability IMO.
-
I am still SMH on how quickly things have gone south.
When you invest more in a program, losses hurt more. Thats why I am feeling it more this year.
-
@AsadZ yes people that have invested in this team like myself for decades thinking we have turned a corner. It’s an even worse feeling in the morning. I’m fine when we get beat by a better team and it’s clear they have better players than us. That has not been the case the last two weeks. We should’ve won by a minimum of 2 scores. To me it goes back to poor coaching not putting players in the right spots to succeed. Baylor fans had a field day on Grimes last night on X. They said we told y’all he was a total mess. LL has to take over the offense or coach Z.
-
@FarmerJayhawk They love Kansas City because most of them have never been to a place with 'lectricity, running water and toilet facilities that didn’t consist of a hole in the ground.
-
Eating but not enjoying humble pie today: before the season I complained about playing Lindenwood falsely believing KU’s program no longer needed to schedule a much smaller school. Now, I thank the genius who scheduled Lindenwood.
-
Hey guys it could be worse, we could be Florida State lol
-
@kjayhawks do they suck worse than us?
-
@nuleafjhawk they may not be worse, but they may have the biggest fall YoY of any team ever.
