2024 NFL Offseason - FAs, Trades, Draft
-
@Crimsonorblue22 yeah. I’m not the target audience. My daughter (now 22) liked it.
-
@bskeet I would not tell my friends that I go to church with that I’ve watched it. Hope Travis doesn’t play to gross of a part.
-
Interesting comments by Harrison B
-
@AsadZ “Interesting” is the most euphemistic word in the English language. Think about that blind date your friend tried to set you up with…“Is she cute?” “Oh, wow, she is SO interesting!”
-
Oh boy. Saw that. The Chiefs are quickly becoming a PR nightmare.
-
And now I just read that Rashee Rice had a gun incident in college! He and some buds shot up an empty car belonging to a basketball player. They are making it sound like all pro teams knew of this before the draft.
Man. Red flags.
-
I see a suspension coming
-
I hope it’s just that @AsadZ . Would hate to lose a player as exciting as him.

Interesting comments by Harrison B
I was there and I was shocked by what he was saying in real time.
But people have lost their minds over this. He’s certainly entitled to his opinions and religion. Personally, I just found it to be a really bad graduation speech and something meant for a different event.
The BC grads I know felt the same.
-
Which would be worse…losing Rice or Butker for the season?
-
-
Chiefs play on everyday except Tuesday next season.
- Regular Sunday game. Monday night. The Christmas game on Wednesday. The Black Friday game. And the Saturday game before Christmas.
-
Holy crap. At first glance, that schedule looks brutal!
-
@rockchalkjayhawk The price of winning. At least we get the NFC South slate.
-
I see most experts are ranking the Chiefs SOS in the middle somewhere.
Dang, looks tough to me! I got em losing 4 games if all goes well.
-
Lots of talking heads picking the Ravens to beat the Chiefs in the opener. Mahomes is 4-1 against Lamar with the one being due to a perfectly thrown ball being dropped by Toney (smdh) and intercepted. Not sure I’d put any money on Baltimore.
-
Rookie, Worthy’s car was stolen this week. What else?#%&$
-
@Kcmatt7 good take, I think Harrison was a bit over the top on this for sure. But man X and Facebook are blowing up with petitions to get him cut and such. This is America and he is free to support any religion he chooses. I’m shocked by how much more outrage there is on this than Deshaun Watson signing a record breaking deal after sexually assaulting 24 women.

The outrage about this is a drop in the bucket comparatively. That one played out over a couple years so you might not remember how hot it got.
-
@kjayhawks ehhhh. I think there was plenty of outrage. Some of that was suppressed because he was also suspended for a full season. So he was out of the spotlight so to speak.
There also wasn’t an “opposing side” to the Watson stuff. Like everyone knew it was bad. So there wasn’t debate.
-
@Kcmatt7 Oh, there were a lot of Watson defenders who tried to advance the notion that he was innocent of any wrongdoing because the DA did not press charges.
And I also remember people braying that the women Watson pressured into sexual contact were most likely prostitutes since they were masseuses. These people belong in a very, very hot destination.
-
Chiefs have signed all but there first two picks.
Sounds like WR Worthy will be signed pretty soon, but that BYU lineman may take another month.
-
And for those of you still interested in Butker’s comments, you can read the entirety of his graduation speech here:

-
(Before i read the full speech, i was angrily outraged at Butler. After i read the full speech, i was outraged, but less so).
-
Is thinking everyone is a pervert that much different than thinking everyone is dumb?
-
@approxinfinity if all the perverted dumbasses would stay home it might change the view.
-
2 Chiefs arrested in Kansas for misdemeanor marijuana possession. Great off-season keeps rollin’ along…
-
Veatch better get on the phone and call Taylor’s agent.
-
@AsadZ Isn’t Taylor the right tackle? Do you mean Smith from last season at Lt following the Morris shenanigans? FWIW I seriously doubt Morris misses even a game and Kingsley is gonna win the job imho.
Another Taylor is rumored (not reality, but funny) to have influenced the Chiefs schedule - Bills in the middle of the season while a small concert is going on in Canada.

I know these football players take a lot of hits to the head, but really, how dumb do you have to be to get arrested for pot possession while driving? You’re either smoking up like cheech and chong, with billows of smoke trailing you, or you have it in plain sight when pulled over.
Either way you’re an idiot.
-
@dylans Sorry I had meant Smith, LT last year who I believe is still FA.
-
Hope these players go through some sort of training in their rookie years, its unbelievable.
Putting such a black eye on the franchise.
-
And it’s legal right across the state line. Like guys have more than a room temp IQ here
-
Thats a valid point Farmer, I was not aware.
-
@FarmerJayhawk I grew up a mile from State Line Road and remember the days when Kansas cops were reputed (ah, Jaybate, where art thou?) to go park near KC, MO liquor stores and follow cars with KS license plates back across the state line. Then bust them for bringing booze into Kansas. This was before Vern Miller arrested (or did he just threaten?) airline attendants for serving liquor by the drink while flying over the Sunflower State.
The story about the cops might have been my father just trying to scare us impressionable teens, but I did hear it from others. Did Kansas have no liquor stores back in the good ol’ days?
-
@FarmerJayhawk Go to Missouri for weed and Kansas for gambling. They should set up a riverboat casino dispensary and make it your one stop shop for ruining a young nfl career.
-
As teenagers, We used to drive across the border from Kansas to buy real 5.0 beer instead of 3.2.
-
@rockchalkjayhawk Yeah. I had a blowout and no spare near the Truman complex on the 4th of July as a… let’s just say 21 year old on a beer run. lol even the cops wouldn’t stop to help. Had to walk a couple miles to find a working pay phone (before everyone had a phone in their pocket). Was interesting- only one person told me I was going to get shot while walking down prospect, the others just scurried away to avoid stray bullets. lol not the best neighborhood. But we did make it back with some very warm beer after a 5 hour detour.
-
It’s a common occurrence in the MSM. Headline of guess what so and so just did/said. Article says this is outrageous in 2o24. I read the article, watch the clip, figure out the context, read the speech/listen to it and think this is what you pick on somebody for?
This is the Harrison Butker situation. Some media talking head calls him anti-woman. Many many woman speak up in support of what he says. Then you read the comments on social media. Like almost zero comments supporting the MSM outrage. A couple I grant you. Free speech people are outraged by his free speech. Fans glorify the beer guzzling Kelce brothers (I acknowledge not the biggest outrage), or tolerate their hero’s who have arrests/lawsuits/numerous lawbrushes etc etc. Athletes spawning children with multiple mothers.
Meanwhile Butker describes my upbringing, my wifes, my own childrens and the media goes nuts. What a dinosaur they say. Yet said dinosaur raises children safe and comfortable knowing parents love them and support them. They’ll be fed, provided for and with a greater outlook on life than the standard the MSM consistently touts. Marry and stay married means staying out of poverty 95% of the time the statistics say. But What a horrible person some say. He’s so bad that he should be fired from playing football which is just the stupidest take of all time in a world of stupid takes.
If I stepped on toes I sort of apologize but people with my views are prevented from sharing them for fear of the reprisals, even loss of jobs if you say the wrong thing. I’m glad Harrison exercised his free speech rights and shame on those who don’t recognize it.
-
@wissox You have the right to free speach….as long as it’s what I want to hear. folks these days
-
@wissox Just remember that what you are seeing on social media is what the algorithm feeds you. It’s selective and personalized. (I don’t see what you see, and you don’t see what I see.)
Content is delivered based on how likely they think it will get you to engage (either strong reinforcement or provocative dissonance.)
-
@bskeet Interesting. My social media is mainly twitter and Facebook for things like this and you’re saying it’s giving me the responses I want to see? I’m not surprised.

They definitely did some doctoring on his quotes after you watch the full speech. In which should be illegal IMO for spreading false narratives from what is supposed to be trusted news sources. Either put what he said entirely or don’t put anything at all is the way I look at it.
-
@kjayhawks I found the full speech was really pretty standard for the very conservative branch of Catholicism, though. Interesting that he was so angry about clergy nowadays being so close to their parishioners instead of being more removed both physically and spiritually. I had a friend at KU who was part of a movement to get rid of Vatican II, and he explained those issues to Unitarian me.
Butker definitely would not like the modern Episcopal approach.
-
I was offended! I can’t imagine sitting at my graduation, having loans, especially the cost now, and listening to him say life starts when I get married and have children. What are the diabolical lies we’ve been told? Even the Nuns didn’t Agee w/him. I don’t want him fired, he’s just not my type. Thank gosh my husband helped me around the house and was great w/the kids. When he died young, thank the good Lord I had a degree and we had life insurance. As a teacher I’ve had many different kinds of kids, I’ve always treated them the same. It’s opened my eyes and that’s been good for me. I’ve also had friends that needed IVF to have children and some friends that needed abortions-healthcare to save their lives or to save one twin or they would lose both. They all wanted children! I’m not Catholic. No offense, it’s not for me. I am a Christian and baptized.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 - That is a great response! Why can’t more people respond like this instead of denigrating the man because they have a different belief? Sheesh.
-
I wish somebody would explain the diabolical lies part.
-
I happen to agree with Harrison - the best thing I’ve ever done is raise a family. My career is helpful in that end. I take pride in being good at what I do, but is not my life’s goal. My career is a means to an end - taking care of my family. That’s how I took his speech. Would I have said it the way he did? no.
-
@dylans The way he said it came out very insulting and demeaning for women and marginalized communities.
