College basketball TV scheduling doesn’t work the same way as college football. CBB TV schedules are announced before the season starts and OU wasn’t expected to be any good this year so it was relegated to ESPN+ since every B12 team has to play a minimum number of games on ESPN+.

Logistics for college basketball are much more complicated than for college football so there’s really not the room to shuffle games around the different ESPN networks and still meet all of their contractual obligations on how many times different teams and conferences have to appear on an ESPN network instead of ESPN+.
