@kuballin10 if we pull acuff and griffen are you prepared to say the staff took care of business this cycle and not second guess that whenever we lose games?

You already know the answer is no because he’ll still complain about Harris.

Yes, please. And I know this is off-topic, but how are we looking with Griffen, Brea, Kugel?
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich Griffen just waiting to make it public, TBD on Kugel, Brea backup to Kugel so I really doubt we get him

#yet
If he does or did commit, I’m not gonna have a cardiac as that’s just way to long of time to hold on to the commit. Now not saying eh Couldn’t stick BUT with the way College Sports has change and this dam NIL and tampering by schools, and how these young kids change their minds at the drop of hat- - -ya it’s going to be a real challenge/surprise to actual see him take the floor at Ku in 25- -Loooooooong ways to go before we get there. It’ would be nice BUT I’m not holding my breath at the end result. - -Whateve we happens e will be fine.- - I’m more excited to see and hope Griffin comits.
That would make a trio of really good quality players, Mayo-- -Storr----& Griffin. – I’m not adding Kugel at this point, as there seems to be a lot of uncertainty right now about eligibility maybe - -Hope so, w shall see though ROCK CHALK
-
@approxinfinity Recruiting wise they will have knocked it out of the park for sure.
Now what Bill does with those players this year and how they form the team (style of play and who plays what minutes) will ultimately determine if it is a success or not.
As @Texas-Hawk-10 alluded to already part of the downfall in the rotations will be the amount of minutes d2 plays and how he performs. Hoping he steps up this year because last year from the eye test seemed like his worst year. Wonder if he was hurt honestly….
-
Just curious why Acuff would feel the need to post that to the whole world if things were buttoned up. Smells like a counter-offer is on the table.
I’m wondering if he’s asking for more than any freshman has ever been given… leaving the staff to contemplate the implications of putting so much stock in an unproven player (at this level).
It’s one thing to put a high 6-figure package together for a transfer whose performance has been validated with stats against at least Div1 or even P1 competition… Seems harder to make the case for a player out of high school, no matter how high you (or others) are on the guy.
Grady or Wiggins (worth it) + Selby or Alexander (not) = risk.
-
Kids will be kids. I see this as playing the game.
Acuff had some heavy hitters after him before KU got this visit + momentum that he may commit to the good guys. UK and Calipari were heavily involved prior to his falling out at UK the last month and I doubt its coincidence that there’s been this change in his recruitment. Now Cal goes to Arkansas that also has big NIL so yeah you can imagine this recruitment isn’t over. Michigan also has a new coach and there’s rumor he could give look at them as well.
Getting a commitment this early is cool but there is zero assurance he’d stick for that duration (however long it may be).
-
@BeddieKU23 So it’s like eBay and KU is winning with 5 minutes left - it’s nice, but doesn’t mean much. Wild free agency period.
-
Acuff to visit Arkansas
-
@BeddieKU23 Well, that’s disappointing.

You should of figured- - that was coming. I had heard some thought he verbaled the weekend he was here .If IF he did, that’s quite a bit to ask this far in advance unless he is just overwhelmed and in total aww with the School.
That’s a long time for a kid especially a kid of that stature/ ranking to stay loyal to a school.-Especially verbal’s aren’t squat. You know these other Schools are going to stay on him , and stay on him hard.
I can’t blame the kid for taking aas many visits as they allow – use to be five, I think that may have changed now. I’m not going to be a hater if he goes elsewhere—good luck----I’m not saying you would be , but just saying.–Yeet my advice to those people who will, --simple message don’t hate the player----hate the game. - -kid has the right to change his mind on commit and being this far in advance, you can almost take it to the bank— that’s happening.–I seriously doubt he ends up here.–BUT wee going to be fine

NIL special: Acuff action figures on sale for the low low price of $750,000 at Walmart!
-
Yeah I can see the disappointment.
We don’t land these kind of recruits typically. Cal was heavily involved before he visited KU so regardless of a commitment this kid was still going to experience plenty of tampering.
I don’t see any reason to spend high level NIL on a High School point guard unlikely to be able to lead a Self team to a championship in likely his only yr in College.
We will see where it goes but this isn’t one to lose sleep over for next year’s class
-
Good one. Wouldn’t be surprised if Arky made those kind of pitches
-
So got a question , what ever happened with Peterson ? - -All the talk about Acuff , So did Peterson cool on KU OR did KU cool on Peterson ?

His recruiting is basically reopened Considering something’s happened around him
-
Read of TOS , that KU had offered 6’5 combo guard Isiah Denis - -R Noel, mentioned this is one we need to keep a close eye oa he also has some connections with Passmore - -we shall see
Edit – -Edit- - - Edit I pulled an ooops and said Evans - - whoopsie - -fixed it
-
Don’t really know how much stock to put into this BUT Trilly Donavan saying we are suppose to be getting another commit Tomorrow ? Didn’t give any names but that’s what is floating around – w shall see , would give us our 13th player
We STILL could use a quality 13th unless it’s just a body, and with Bill I don’t think it would be. Don’t know what Position the kid is suppose to play or what but Guess we shall see how it plays out
-
Wondering how Peterson’s visit went ? - -heard from other sources was that He was really excited about his upcoming visit with KU— plus his Dad I guess loves Coach Self sure woudl be nice
-
Sounds like good news could be coming on Acuff. Swain all but saying he’s committed. We’ll see what twists and turns are left on this one.
Also sounds like they sit in a great spot for Bryson Tiller as well who just unofficially visited. He already OV’d previously and can again this fall if need be

hmmm, I read just the opposite on Acuff this Morning. It was off a Arkansas Article saying that some guy from on 3 had predicted Acuff to commit to Arkansas, and that would mean chances were that Darryn Peterson would land at KU. , saying that Arkansas was the supposed leader for Acuff. - Hell who knows, heard NIL is playing a HUGE part in this also

KU won’t be losing many NIL battles unless a collective is going to reset the market on kids and overpay.

true, and yet I wouldn’t beet against that. I mean people already over paying for some - - -the late K/State addition for 2 Mil - -our you kidding me? - Hawkins isn’t worth 2 Mil - I think this is just the beginning. I think this is just the tip of the iceberg as far as College athletics – just becoming the NBA Minor league replacing the G league
I just hope we land one or the other, I actually prefer Peteson over Acuff- -BUT you sure wouldn’t see me have a fit if we did gt Acuff lol
-
Was reading an article came from Big Blue Nation I believes and they was during an interview with Peterson’ Dad and he stated that Kentucky had always been Darryn’s dream School - - hmmm hadn’t heard that before.
My odds on thee two - -I’d say Acuff like 50/50 u and Arkansas -and Peterson about 70/30 for us- --what you think ?
-
So who thinks we end up with Peterson ?
-
Idk, long way to go with Peterson and Acuff
-

That is one of the new and highly annoying things about college hoops for us fans. Teams are now apparently working under a mysterious salary cap.
I wanna know what we have to work with! I wanna know about all teams actually, and who’s getting paid what.
Not that I want more government interference in our lives, but at some point will government jump in and demand transparency?
-
@FarmerJayhawk said in 2025 Recruiting:

Read where Pope is trying to make up ground and get Peterson re-invested in Kentucky. --I’m still wavering one day to the next who I want more, both really really good.-- -I just think Peterson more complete rounded player. - -I’m hearing one thing that is going to play a sufficient role is – -how is the Coach going to play him ?- -Saying Peterson wants to have the ball in his hand, wants to run the team / play PG he considers himself aa a true PG , might be a little problem point for us as I think KU is recruiting him more a a two guar aren’t they ?
Hope we can get one or the other.- - Peterson ranked the # 3 player—Acuff ranked the # 4 player, worst case scenario would be Peterson end up landing at Kentucky & Acuff at Arkansas
-
@jayballer67 simmah down now! you’re pitching softballs to @kuballin10 to go on a Dajuan hating spree!

Haha nah as much as Bill would love to find a way for 12th year Juan we know he won’t be here next year to turn away elite pg’s or elite pg transfers
-
@jayballer67 If we whiff on both I hope everyone can simmer down on the Bill is a gangsta thing……

LMAO still doesn’t change A THING on how I feel about Juan, besides Juan won’t even be here probably when these two or whatever decide to come play at KU.- -Dam there I go bursting bubbles. - -I would rather pitch Pecans to him approxinfinity, Beside I have to get him Juiced up for his traditional yearly down playin of KU Basketball. Mr. Sunshine himself, if it wasn’t Juan he is raggin on it will be someone else lol.
But hey we got football first, not sure if muffin is a foot ball fan or not----hopefully not or he will be raggin on JD-6 all yr lol - - - ROCK CHALK Buddy

A few hours left to go for the announcement I think, but yeah

Peterson dropped his top 8. He’ll take some visits to see what other thing$ schools can offer but it would really be an upset for him to not be a Jayhawk

It’s becoming a circus with Peterson - The kid listed an original eight once already, Then he drops that lists and now list another eight & half of the original isn’t listed in his . Kentucky site listed in an article they think reason being is many of the original schools backed off Peterson was because they were under the assumption he was pretty much a lock for KU.
Now stil visiting USC , Ohio St -hell he even has K/State listed now in his list of final eight Schools. You talk about the ultimate kick to the Chones would be if Grape Ape ended up getting him to commit to them – holy crap-
-
-
@jayballer67 a bunch of those schools had coaching changes so I don’t blame him for reconsidering. Honestly it’s a pretty normal timetable for a college bound kid.
-
Any legs to this?
The No. 1-ranked high school player in the men’s basketball recruiting class of 2025 has narrowed his list of college choices to Kansas, Kansas State and five other schools. AJ Dybantsa, a 6-foot-9, 200-pound senior small forward from Utah Prep Academy in Manti, Utah, also is considering Baylor, BYU, Auburn, Alabama and North Carolina.
