Transfer Rumblings

@kuballin10 It does seem that way, yeah, which I can’t blame them. Griffin was a stud at Bama last year. But after having absolutely zero depth I want all the depth plz.
-
Yes Griffen >> Brea

The old Kurtis Townsend special.
Was starting to wonder what he did in recruiting these days. He’s still out there getting it done it seems
I have a tweet ready to go if we do in fact get Mr Acuff.
-
Seems like this weekend was a big dud as both guys didn’t commit as planned or am I missing something….
-
@kuballin10 @BShark stated above that it sounds like 2 players signed, but we would not hear about it for awhile.
-
we good (x2)
-
@FarmerJayhawk Probably a dumb question, but why wait to make the announcement? NIL issues? It can’t be tampering… just odd, but what do I know.
-
@PharmacyHawk honestly there’s just no rush to announce it. If he wants to wrap up classes at Bama and talk things over with his family that’s all fine with the staff. His spot at KU is secure.
-
@FarmerJayhawk What’s the logic then for Acuff a 25 dude? More he waits the more he’s recruited elsewhere
-
@kuballin10 some coaches do hotbox kids into committing (more common in football, though Lance really grills guys to make sure that’s what they want) but Bill really doesn’t. Rushing a kid is usually bad for you. If he wants to take a few days or weeks or whatever that’s his prerogative. Shoot he might just want to finish finals first
-
True get out of Bama without too many people mad at him cause he “officially” hasn’t transferred anywhere
-
Come on down Javon Small (or Brea but that seems like a bigger lift)

Nope. Please ban in conference transfers. Anybody have that power anymore?

The SEC does it in football for one of the windows but I doubt there’s much appetite for it

Yea, sucks, but I still dislike it. I can’t wait to see what college sports looks like in 5 years. No way it’s the same. Sorry for the sidetrack.
-
@rockchalkjayhawk hasnt college sports progressively gotten worse for the fan? Doesnt that mean whenever now is, this is as good as it gets?
-
Can’t wait for these covid seniors to finally be done

Hold on a bit, @approxinfinity , I think I have to let the mushrooms kick in before I can dive into that existential inquiry!
Is that kinda like saying yesterday’s future is tomorrow’s today?

Same…get these senior citizens out of the college game lol.
-
@approxinfinity Since 2020 I’d agree the sport has regressed in a big way.
-
@TYOHawk College coaches always value experience so we’ve ended up with this terrible product of 25 year olds still playing while freshman have to transfer since they’ll know they’ll get played over and recruited over. It’s terrible at that point some players gotta give up basketball.

Couldn’t agree more.

@BShark Pg1……
-
Question ? - - Did we end up getting Griffin or not ?- --If we did then what’s the hold up with them announcing is transfer ?-- - going on a week since he was on Campus.- Yet have not hear anything announcing his commit. from the School or him.
-
@kuballin10 I think everyone, including you, including Juan, will be much happier with Harris’s production next year if he is closer to the 25-30 minute a game mark than the 36 or whatever he was at this year. His defense can be more aggressive, his legs will have more juice, etc. We don’t need a PG1. We need a REAL PG2. Some say Zeke can handle some PG2 minutes but I’m skeptical there because from what I’ve seen athleticism and defense are not among his strengths. I still have some hopes of Elmarko developing into PG2 this year but another option to keep him motivated is a must in my opinion. If we get Griffin, the wings seem pretty set. If you have KJ, Store, Griffin, Kuegle, and Zeke all rotating through the 2-4 spots, I feel good about that. Obviously KJ is really only a 4 and not sure Zeke is really a 3, but the other guys have at least some versatility in there. Now, if Kuegle AND Griffin don’t make it to campus, we will need another 6’5-6’8 athletic type that can shoot to fill out that depth chart. But assuming they both stay on, I’m good with shifting some focus to the 1 for solid back up minutes with Philon gone.
I think 10-15 minutes a game this year with the opportunity to lead KU in the future is a decent selling point for a lot of guards.
-
It does not matter whether some fans are happy with DeJuan or not. What matters is whether he plays well and helps us win games. He has done that for four years and will likely, as you pointed out, be able to play even better with a decent backup pg to gibe him some rest and some shooters and creators to take the burden of running the entire offense off his shoulders. Some people will not be happy because DeJuan will smartly play to his strengths and set up other people for shots instead of trying to score a lot himself, but like I said it doesn’t matter as long as he makes the team better.
-
I am ready for the Dajuan Harris takes no prisoners final campaign leading the army we wish we had.
-
@approxinfinity I’m ready for him to go 28 min, 14 pts, 7 ast, 2.5 stl, with less than 2 turnovers a game this year.
-
@approxinfinity. If I may: “…leading the army we hope to have”
-
@HoraceZontal no i mean the army we wish we had last year, and the army we WILL have this year. I’m stupid optimistic.
-
I do not want DaJuan to average 14ppg because that means he is shooting too much. I do want him to cut down the turnovers and finish better at the rim. Stats don’t matter that much but just for a fun ballpark figure I would like for him to average around 8 points and 8 assists per game with a couple steals and relatively low turnovers.
-
Basically 2022. We can all live with that if the pieces around are good enough

There is no world in which he averages 14 ppg. We’ve loaded up guys who can score because it’s not his thing.

Yep. Teams will be daring him to shoot. Which is good for us because that’s when he can hit them.

Yup he’s a great set shooter with space. But the scoring on this team will be done by primarily 4 guys….Hunt, AJ, Griffen and Zeke. I’d argue the hierarchy is probably set already.
-
@approxinfinity that sounds great. I’m on board for that!
-
@approxinfinity you’ll be waiting for a while
Not a round of 32 exit but elite 8 next year……to a lesser uconn team
-
@BShark Nah he was bad shooting the three besides uk game and he actually won’t shoot them. He was left wide open this year and he only shot 2.1 a game……with more weapons around him he will shell up further
Our only hope is small and Mayo show they are like remy and Bill has literally no choice
For a hof coach and all his knowledge he sure builds lineups that offensively have awful spacing and poor shooters
-
@kuballin10 I’m ready to hear you make excuses about why Bill won his third ring.
-
@approxinfinity His 08 team was so stacked even Bill couldn’t screw it up granted it took missed free throws but that was revenge for the 2003 title game when we were better than Cuse but took the L on what 12-30 free throws
The 2022 was kalkenbrenner hurt, moore hurt, bacot hurt…remy and the miracle that Dave became Wilt 2.0 after everyone wanting him gone….unbelievable team effort and “want to” by the guys.
The Self chess move was second half against Miami that just stifled them.
The nova game we wanted it but nothing he did mu philosophy wise…we just made shots.
Unc we got way down starting out playing as Bill wanted. Second half the boys said screw it let’s get out and run cause we got no other choice.
Best offenses are teams that run and that’s not really a Self special. No wonder he likes sir walks it up the court juan

You asked…
-
Danny and the Miracles! Nobody else! Get out of here.
-
Huh TIL Bill was the coach in 02-03. Guess I should throw away all my merch that says Roy was.
-
Not that long ago I was hanging out with one of my best friends who routinely talks with Hubert. She told me yeah Self “roasted him” but look maybe someone who’s watched UNC for 20 years and had access to the coaches for that long is wrong, I’m open to debate.
-
Griffin just made it official that he is coming.
-
@FarmerJayhawk 08 redemption for the programs falter in 2003….Roy was clearly the coach in 2003 figured that’s common knowledge here
-
@FarmerJayhawk My uncles cousins sister hangs out with Self and Self says man we got lucky in 2022 with all these teams best player getting injured the round before we played up but dagum if we weren’t due for some luck
-
@kuballin10 You really shouldn’t listen to your uncles cousin sister anymore. She has led you down a very dark road of bad KU ball info. May god have mercy on your soul :<
-
@kuballin10 I think you are reaching here. You conveniently include all the things that went our way while ignoring the things that did not go our way in 2022 (Creighton having their best 3 point shooting game of the season and making tough 3s, Villanova doing the same, UNC getting some favorable calls from the refs). It is also important to recognize that luck is a part of every title run. If you want to make a strong case against Self I would suggest using the following points
A) arguing that he got us wrapped up in sanctions
B )arguing that with all the regular season titans and all the talent he has had he should have more than 2 titles and 3/4 final fours
C) arguing that his style of developing players over the the course of years worked well in the past but won’t work in the modern era of unlimited free agency
I would still disagree with you but if you were to focus on these points you would at least have an argument worth respecting. The argument you have now is just lazy and is clearly focused more on scoring “debate points” than on employing close analysis to reach any sort of truth.
