Garrison would definitely help this team next year, long term as well. Lots of promise there. Won’t lose sleep here until there’s some real action though. Good to see we are kicking lots of tires already

Oh yeah. I have mixed feelings on Peterson given his redshirt decision but no doubt he’s very talented. The way to do it might be to go to 13 next season then back down to 12 in 25-26
I just view it as a Malik situation to try not to get too deep into it. I’m just glad it seems from the outside KJ is down to do what’s best for the program and Hunt.
That’s a good way to think about it. And honestly having the depth to go hard in practice every day is underrated. I think a good amount of our issues on execution is because our starters don’t see much competition in practice

Remember when we used to talk about our bench - the second five — being able to beat some of the teams on the schedule?
The years we’ve had depth and experience are the some of the years we have done best in the tourney. The portal is going to make that really hard to replicate.

Kansas is also looking at Tarris Reed. Bill is hell bent on a third center. Injury insurance + going into the year after with two guys that have program experience. So I would not expect any one year left guy at that spot.

Improved on volume and more minutes but the FG% and FT’s are a concern. As your “2nd big” he’d probably be good enough. Hard to get excited about Michigan players given the coaching they got the past few years. Former top 35 recruit…

I would pencil in Furphy at the 3 next year. Seems pretty unlikely he leaves, though it would behoove him to test

@BShark how does NIL work according to time? Like is it yr round, do they get monthly payments? Graduates stop after season or is it a from beginning of bb til end? I have no idea.

Furphy is on a student visa, and because our immigration system is dumb international students can’t earn outside income except in very limited circumstances (e.g. be a lab research assistant). However, that restriction does not apply when he’s back home (also possibly not in the U.S. but I’d need to look into that more). So he can get money at home or possibly when we go to Mexico City for the Houston game (still, ick) next season.

@BShark He’s 6-5 so assuming he’d play the 2 so there is at least a chance we get him. If he wants to play pg we all know that positions penciled in.

I love KJ dude plays his ass off but I just don’t think we can be successful with him starting at the 4. If he’s willing to come off the bench otherwise we have to let him go. I’ve been saying it all year, a guy that can’t shoot, rebound or play defense has no business playing 30 plus minutes at Kansas.

@bskeet well the last 2 times we made it out of the first weekend we at least made the FF if you count 2018. It just feels like we aren’t a part of the tournament losing so early. Last season stings because we probably had a final 4 shot with Self.

Well 2 out of 3 ain’t bad I guess if that’s what you think but KJ 100 % can defend 1-4— the kid busts his as more then anyone else on this team - -he isn’t going anywhere

@jayballer67 he can’t defend the post he taller players and can’t defend the perimeter well from what I’ve seen. Teams pack the paint and dare us to make 3s we just watched it unfold this afternoon in the second half. We need a Perry Ellis type 4 with Hunter in the post.

I didn’t say the post. I said one through four, and he does defend the perimeter well. – I don’t know how many times I heard from announcers, coach’s and others talking about how good Harris- – Mccullar - -And adams was defensively

I’m OKAY returning 4 starters, portaling in an awesome guard to start and then just adding quality depth. Get starter minutes down and things look a lot different. Our bench couldn’t even tread water against good teams this season and it killed us.

Gotta see what the portal additions look like. But I foresee a lot of the same issues with us potentially losing two pro wings. I still think spacing will be an issue with KJ, Dajuan and Hunt.
