I think Juan and Hunter are fairly safe lol.
-
@BShark wow! I hope Furphy stays. Leaving out somebody.
-
@BShark fair lol. I don’t think they want to have to play Juan 36 and Hunter over 30 MPG at least

KU should kick the tires here https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/jacob-crews-1.html
I’m very skeptical of bringing in a “shooter” who’s only had 1 good shooting season. Very similar shooting history to Timberlake and that didn’t turn out too well for his intended role.

At bare minimum you’d think the rebounding would translate. They’re going to have to decide who’s more Timberlake vs who’s more Knecht

More saddened by Dajuan being mentioned tbh

@Texas-Hawk-10 Guys with one outlier season concern me as well. Several others that are rumored to portal. I’d generally try to stay away from those types.
-
So far KU has officially been linked with: Jevon Porter, Clark Slajchert
The Ayaji kid from Pepperdine that just entered today would be IDEAL for the 4 spot imo.
-
@BShark Let me guess we aren’t looking at anyone to play the pg spot are we……
-
@BShark Can someone explain the interest in Jevon Porter because I don’t understand that one. He’s a 6-11 player with almost as bad of rebounding numbers as KJ, shot 42% overall from the field this year and was sub 30% from 3, both on a pretty high volume number of shots (17 FGA per game and 6 3FGA per game).
What would he legitimately add that’s addresses a need next season beyond being a body? Is the interest because of who his brothers are or is there something I’m missing because I don’t see anything in his game that tells me he’s good enough to play for Kansas.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Preaching to the choir here. Give me Ayaji over Porter all day long. Ayaji has more guard skills, would be a strong fit at the 4. Just roll out Flory as the primary back-up 5.
I’d go nowhere near a Porter brother personally. They are all charmin soft and we know how that plays with Bill.
-
Malik Mack rumored to be going portaling. In a word: WOULD.
-
Picking up an Arterio Morris type guard without the character issues might be good.
-
Haase needs to do us a favor and slide some of these Stanford guys over

I’d take Carlyle. I’d also take the French big if Hunter is leaving. Lol.

Oklahoma State fired Mike Boyton yesterday so I’d assume it’s just a matter of time before something of their players start hitting the portal. Javon Small would be worth a look if he’d willing to play next to Harris.
Personally, I don’t know that there’s any players in the portal right now that I’d take at this time. For me personally the top of my list is keeping an eye on the Scott Drew situation and if he takes the Louisville job, I’m talking to their two guards that could very well be tempted to play elsewhere if they don’t follow Drew to Louisville if that move happens.
Regardless of that, I want transfer players that come from winning programs that are playing in the postseason and aren’t in the portal yet.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Eric Bossi said the staff will be all over Brandon Garrison, should he enter the portal. He also added that he believes Garrison will enter.
-
@BShark He would definitely help defensively.

YES

I think Baylor fans have led themselves into a false sense of security. They feel there is NO WAY Drew would take the Louisville job. – I think they could be in for a surprise, I’ve heard actually he might be Louisville # 1 target. - Now I don’t know if he would want to take on another rebuild but never say neve. - -I think it might be a lateral move for him though and he has put in a lot of time at Baylor & with what he has built and has going for him now and his age -might stay put but would also not be surprised if he took the job

Drew is Louisville’s top target and stuff I’ve heard is that announcement could happen within a day or two of Baylor’s season ending becauseLouisvillewants an answer ASAP.
Louisville despite its recent struggles is tge superior job. Louisville is the other flagship basketball program for Adidas, they have much a lot more money than Baylor. The rumor is a deal not too far behind Self in regards to annual salary. I know Baylor just opened their new arena during the season, but Louisville has NBA level facilities in terms of their arena.
It’s possible Drew is using this as leverage to get a raise, but I don’t think it’s that. This feels inevitable to me. Don’t forget that Baylor also lost Kim Mulkey a couple of years ago to LSU so there is something happening with Baylor right now.
If this move happens, what could likely save Baylor’s roster is if they very quickly snatch Jerome Tang up since most of their roster knows him as well.

Interesting to carry 3 pure centers potentially, but I agree.

I’m assuming the thought process would be looking at Flory to play some 4 as well given he’s likely not strong enough yet to play the 5 in the B12.
-
Juwan Howard is out at Michigan. Tarris Reed is probably the only option there I’d have some interest in, but doubt he’d come in to be a back up to Dickinson again. Will Tschetter could be a nice option as a bench sniper which was his role the last 2 seasons.
Dug McDaniel will likely be a highly coveted option at PG if he enters the portal, but KU obviously wouldn’t be a factor if that played out.

it’s going to be interesting, they will flip in Waco if he does go. Makes sense what you say , as even though Louisville has struggled some in the last few years they was a power not that long ago. I would agree overall they are the step up-- -was just kind of think right now sa of today-- this minute might be latreal

KJ about to get Morningstar’d? Many people are saying
-
Does that mean furphy’s coming back?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I would lean that way
-
@FarmerJayhawk what is getting morningstar’d?
-
@approxinfinity start every game one year and benched the next
-
@FarmerJayhawk was he benched? I dont remember
-
@approxinfinity for Xavier Henry

Morning also missed the first chunk of that season because of his DUI.

And if Furphy does leave KU will be a major player in the portal for that spot

Oh yeah. I have mixed feelings on Peterson given his redshirt decision but no doubt he’s very talented. The way to do it might be to go to 13 next season then back down to 12 in 25-26

I just view it as a Malik situation to try not to get too deep into it. I’m just glad it seems from the outside KJ is down to do what’s best for the program and Hunt.

That’s a good way to think about it. And honestly having the depth to go hard in practice every day is underrated. I think a good amount of our issues on execution is because our starters don’t see much competition in practice

Judging talent and character in the portal is becoming one of the most important things in coaching (ISU a team full of transfers no one wanted) . I feel like we have had a ton of swings and misses the last few seasons. Even looking at the title team with Coleman-Lands and Yesifu to Cam Martin last season. Obviously we missed hard with Adams and Timberlake this season. The biggest issue with Nick is supposedly we had Cam Spenser but Bill veto’d him for Timberlake. That is all part of the reason I’d like to see some staff changes this offseason.
-
@kjayhawks -“ The biggest issue with Nick is supposedly we had Cam Spenser but Bill veto’d him for Timberlake.” I’ve not seen this anywhere. Do you have a link?
-
Nick committed a month before Spencer entered the portal.
-
@FarmerJayhawk - Thanks!
-
@Gorilla72 no sir, just what I heard from an individual. That’s why I put supposedly. Could be fact or fiction @BShark or @FarmerJayhawk maybe able to confirm or deny such
-
@FarmerJayhawk looks like you solved the riddle @Gorilla72 either way it was a humongous miss
-
-
@kjayhawks - KU would have had to wait 30+ days, without knowing Spenser was entering the portal. Additionally, he seems to like the East Coast- Loyola Maryland to Rutgers to UConn. That being said, it would have been nice to have him.
-
@BShark for real?
