Transfer Rumblings

@FarmerJayhawk Juan and Kj stay all others leave would be insane.
Get Mgbako and 2 stud late nba draft guys
I love the portal and KU seems like the hot name for portal guys. It’s better than the unknown high school kids who still gush over uk and Duke. KU is on the rise very obvious. Bill gonna get to 5 like coach K and leave us with 7 ncaa titles.
If Bill wins a title this upcoming year then that’s 2/3 years since the portal……it is almost not fair
-
Just saw this:
-
@kuballin10 good tracker here. The portal indicators aren’t up to date (e.g. Nelson not shown as in, but he is) but a good list anyhow https://www.rookiescale.com/early-entrant-tracker/

@Woodrow I thought Zuby was transferring because he would be BEHIND Ernest coming off the bench, after Hunter committed. Both can’t be going???
Rumor is that Udeh could be on the way out as well
-
@FarmerJayhawk said in Transfer Rumblings:
And don’t rule out 3
Churn churn churn. Think we could see a HS guy ask out as well.
-
DaJuan, Udeh, & KJ sticking around still? Or is it gonna be a 100% new roster? Wow
The stratification of talent with the portal is wild. Covetous
-
I like the idea of getting a few new good players via portal to improve the team but I wish mass exodus of current players can be avoided.
My point is that we still should be able to see some players go through the development and growing process every year, freshmen to upperclassmen.
I am particularly disappointed in how Cuffe’s departure was handled, wish coach would not have called out his name in public.
-
The big question is how quickly will this roster be able to gel? Almost feels like a fresh Kentucky lineup every year.
-
Would be shocked if Udeh left, Zuby was likely 3rd in line. He has a ton of upside and will be a good player in a few years but he ain’t gonna do much at the power 5 level at this point.
-

Udeh was a McDonald’s all American top 30 recruit, it’s hard to tell those guys “hey for the first two years of your college career you’re gonna average 10 minutes a game”. That being said if we can sell him on like how Donovan clingan was used for uconn this season then I’m all for it

Could you imagine how some of the fan base would feel if say Doke and or McCormack were recruited over from portal when they were here , and not given the chance to develop like they did during here time here. - Doke & McCormack both were pure crap their freshmen years here. - If Self would of more or less shown them the door one way or another of making sure they were out and forced out , we would of never got to see the finished product - -their development from Freshman yrs till their finish - -

Good Lord Almighty! It’s suddenly “Rent-A-Team”! ️

Disagree there. Think he could be a decent rim runner and rebounder if he finds the right program. This isn’t a Cuffe situation where the guy just isn’t good enough imo.

Zuby had beaten Udeh in the rotation before Zuby hurt his foot. He should have plenty of P5 interest.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 notice I said at this point, how much money you wanna bet he’s doesn’t go to a power school and start. He will be good in a few years, he’s just not great now. I’d highly recommend working on your reading comprehension buddy.
-
@kjayhawks this isnt necessary. Lets stay civil?
-
@kjayhawks All he said was “He should have plenty of P5 interest.” Nothing about starting “at this point.”
Not sure why you felt he was not comprehending what you wrote.
-
One day without a commit and people get testy!
-
Question since I truly can’t keep up… and it would really blow if Udeh transfers. Is Jaylon Tyson still in play for KU?

think he’s off the table and going to Cal
-
Ok, I did google him and saw that he is predicted to go to Cal…but- why hasn’t he announced? What’s he waiting for?
-
Honestly no idea. I know there was some smoke that he was supposed to announce a few days ago but that obviously didn’t happen. My guess is that him and his brother who plays football are still shopping for schools that will take both of them
-
@rcjhdraft Thanks for the info… At least some people still think there’s a very small chance he ends up at KU apparently - this from 247 sports
“Cal and Kansas are heavily involved for prized Texas Tech wing Jaylon Tyson. But he has a decision to make, because his job description at Kansas would be much different than at Cal. Mark Madsen has done a phenomenal job upgrading the talent at Cal in a hurry, but there’s a massive hole on the wing for Tyson to fill. If Tyson wants to be a star, Cal offers him that chance.
If Tyson is OK sacrificing his personal stats to be a piece of a National Championship contender, Kansas is the logical destination. “

It was said earlier in the thread that his visit went really poorly so I’m not sure if he even has a committable offer at this point. Either way, I doubt they’d take him before hearing Mgbako’s decision.
-
Tyson isn’t coming to KU. Other than that, who knows!
-
@approxinfinity don’t really think I said anything uncivil in that. Usually @Texas-Hawk-10 go back and forth with out getting to bad. I am usually laughing on the matter. I’ve been cussed out on here and not had anyone say anything.
-
@FarmerJayhawk trust the Farmer! He is Cindy’s personal garden sales person for her at home garden! Somehow he never misses so either that or he golfs with Bill every day in the summer - your choice!

Dang, that’s sad to hear. We are not gonna find a Hunter in the portal every year. Development is huge for bigs. And there’s something to be said about team chemistry. Guys need time to adjust to each other. Stick around, Ernest!
-
The Importance of Being, Ernest!
-
Udeh has to realize, he is STILL gonna get his minutes. Hunter is a one year rental, no way is he hanging around o for two yrs.= – Ernest needs to remain calm, watch study a little from Hunter things,-post up/moves etc. Watch some things, be willing to learn some from Hunter. -Udeh is still gonna get quality minutes.
It’s Hunter and Udeh. If fouls get really sticky, then we can always move KJ back in for spot minutes at the 5. Udeh needs to realize after next year he will be THE MAN. I don’t think he leaves/ Sucks bad enough Zuby left. I think Udeh ha a really good chance to become a really good quality big. - Hang in there Big Boy /Patience
-
@kjayhawks from what i saw it was unwarranted; it went from discussing Zuby to suggesting Texas doesnt read carefully. This isnt a hit job, just asking you to be civil. I cant regulate everything, nor should I, to your point. Lets move on.
-
@kuballin10 only spoke to Bill once. Ran into him when we were both out for walks in Lawrence and he asked the score of the football game. I told him Iowa State a lot KU not nearly as many and he got a nice chuckle
-
So what’s the feel / read on Mgbako - -we still feeling like good shape ?

This from fansided thru the phog about an hour ago (May 6)
“ With Kyle Cuffe and Ejiofor transferring, Kansas has filled out 10 of its 12 scholarship spots. One of them is expected to be taken up by wings Mackenzie Mgbako or Jaylon Tyson.”
Apparently Joshua Shulman, the writer of the article that I lifted the segment from, is not clued in…
Again, if Tyson is a lock for cal, it’s odd that he’s waiting.
-
@Bosthawk yeah, I used to write there. It’s kind of a crapshoot. Gone downhill since it was Evan Riggs, Ryan Noel, and myself for a hot second. I doubt KU will take anyone that needs a waiver. Maaaaaybe if we whiff on Mgbako and just need a body.
-
Udeh needs to be working on his post moves and push Dickerson down to the bench sitting on his millions of bucks. Billy wants to win more than stroke egos.
-
Could we see instances where Udeh is on the court at the same time as Dickenson? Everyone is just assuming Dickenson is a 5 only but with his ability to shoot outside i could imagine times in certain situations/matchups where they could both be out there.
-
Maybe its just wishful thinking but part if me thinks we could recruit portal under the assumption that mccullar is gone then once everyone is signed, surprise, a “shocking and sudden change if heart” he decides to come back and fill the last roster spot. Like it was preplanned all along to stack the roster as much as possible for a chip. Ha

one thing of note: Dickinson averaged about 60 3 pt attempts over the last two seasons. That’s not very many. So, i wouldn’t expect him to have the freedom to launch the 200+ that guards/wings take.
Grady and Wilson were over 200 attempts for KU last year. Joe and Dajuan 70+.
I’d guess he’d be about the same in Self’s system. maybe even less?

I know Josh a little. Good kid. We had some words about the Cuffe article previously. I know he deleted the tweet idk about the article.
He is not clued in and is just going off public information.

Maybe in 2008 when a lot of teams played two bigs. Now that line-up can’t defend well enough.

@BShark Excellent! Good job putting your foot down!

Sorry , but had to chuckle when I seen this just a lil bit. Saw on the Indiana boards there was a pic of Mgbako in Indiana gear, but that is not what I found some what funny, they had him have a pic with him holding TWO CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHIES. - -lol I’m sorry i apologize just found that funny , like that is their Ace in the hole in the recruitment of Mackenzie.
Made me think DAM if that’s suppose to be their trump card. - — what the hell would Mackenzie do trying to hold our SEVENTEEN CONFERENCE TROPHIES & our National NCAA title trophies lmao. poor kid wouldn’t stand a chance. Another postre was playing it up saying looked like Mgbako wasn’t enjoying his visit to KU because he wasn’t smiling in the pictures taken with him hile he was at KU lol – holy crap they are Reaching.
They also made the statment that NIL was killing the game ans that Dickinson was getting 4 million for one year coming to Kansas. Isn’t it 4 million for two years ?
-
the IU board said that Mgbako left without verbally committing and that right now he won’t make the Louisville visit

well thats good, he left without committing. so if he does Cancel the Louisville then probably KU/ Indiana probably
