@BShark It probably doesn’t mean much, but I like that he’s a lefty in the actions we run on offense. Makes you much more of a threat on both sides of the court when you have a guy who can drive the ball with his dominant hand going left.

There was a point in Brakefield’s recruitment where KU might have been the leader. Then he was all Duke and never looked back. We certainly have familiarity with him. Assuming the coaching change will give him a clear waiver on his next stop.

I still think the bench is a bit of a mess. Absolutely no scoring on the bench basically no matter how I look at it. We need to find a guy who can be a spark off the bench.

Sold on Brakefield. 19 PER, 65% on 2’s, 35% from 3, 73% from the line, rebound and assist numbers up. He’s poised for a breakout year next season.

For those that don’t follow as closely some former Southern Assault guys: Darrell Arthur (technically he was an alum of one of the two that merged into SA but lots of the same people), Gethro (RIP), Jossell, Jalen. The director is a close friend of Bill Self.
ETA: Make no mistake we raised the profile of Gethro (RIP) and Jossell by having them on the roster for a year. Worked out for everyone while we were in a recruiting lull.

@BShark Cuffe, Cam, and Zach seem like locks to leave. I ultimately think Bobby finds a different level to play at.
The rest I don’t have a good feel for. Like I don’t understand why Zuby would leave. I can’t imagine that his camp expected to play big minutes in year one with Zach and Udeh on the roster.
Rice I could see moving on, but I think it would be a mistake on his part. He’s got a chance to play big minutes next season. I really hope the staff can find a way to keep him.
Joe should be put out to pasture. Just not at KU level guy, but if he likes it here I don’t know how you get him to leave lol.

@BShark I think Adams sticks in 24 ¯_(ツ)_/¯. 3 pros, 2 transfers out leaves you room to sign 1 transfer if it’s 5. I think it’s 6 total but 5 is more likely than 7

If we are counting those 3 then I’m putting the number at 7 w/ Adams reclass, 6 w/o. Think we need room for two starters. The way the roster sits right now, I just don’t think Self could go into it next season and hope to win at his usual level.
Agree 6 is a good number that makes a ton of sense to me. Cam retires, Cuffe finds a nice MEAC school and Zach probably a G5 school.

If they don’t make room and add two transfers they could legitimately suck next year. Not like a down year for Bill. Like a 10-11 loss team suck.
Bobby sucks. Joe sucks. For all we know at the moment, Rice sucks. CJ will not be playable as a freshman. McDowell will not be playable as a freshman. You cannot roll out Juan/Elmarko/Transfer/KJ/Udeh with that bench and expect to win the conference. That isn’t going to get the job done.

Strongly agree with this. We have to get two legit wings that have proven it at the college level. I think that’s absolutely required and I think it will be done.
Agree with what you are saying about the FR which does make @FarmerJayhawk idea of keeping Marcus in 24 make some sense. Keep room for a proven guy while forcing less out. Okay I can get behind that.
In my perfect world we are getting proven experienced depth for the 2G spot but I haven’t heard that’s on the table yet unlike the starting 3/4.

@BShark Yea I mean I would love to keep MAdams in '24, but I usually when there is reclass talk it gets done. And the way this one got done it feels like someone else is leaving.

Believe he was already designated to transfer out earlier in the year but it couldn’t be official until this week. Only played in 8 games and none since December. Averaged 14 and 8 as a sophomore.
Not ideal for sure. What’s Eddie Lampkin’s excuse? TCU has a game this week and he’s in the portal blaming his coach.
