2021 Transfer Talk/List

SLU makes a lot of sense
-
Very happy that worked out the way it did. Pettiford is way better

Yeah and multiple years.

Oh so he mad Curbelo won the spot. Averaged less then 1 assist a game in 25 minutes per. Not sure what these kids hear in their head sometimes
Yeah idk, might be a case of wherever he ends up the 2nd time just works out better.
-
So Illinois going back to the stone age of the Big10 again. Likely to lose everyone but Curbelo
-
Marcus Santos Silva of Texas Tech in the portal. Should be more to follow.
-
I read I think on the initial yr when this portol came around they said they had like 1,942 players announce this si going to push that if it keeps going
-
Micah Peavy in the portal. Yes please

@FarmerJayhawk yeah sure w/e GIVE ME ADAM MILLER SNACKS
Snacks betta be on this
Why? We need players who can shoot and that’s not Adam Miller. He’s a high volume shooter that only shot 34% from the field in Big 10 games and 32% from 3 which was the majority of his shot attempts. His PER was 6.3 in Big 10 and sub 10 for the year. This kid is combination of the worst attributes of Christian Braun and TGF. Shot worse than Braun did this year and like TGF, once the ball reached Miller, it wasn’t leaving his hands.
Adam Miller is a terrible fit for Bill Self’s system and for what Self is trying to accomplish in recruiting/transfers this year.
-
KU has one spot open as of now. We’ve got a PG and a big man. The current focus has to be a starting caliber 2/3 that can shoot from deep so Braun can go back to a 6th man role that he’s perfect for.

Tell that to the staff who is heavily prioritizing another PG with TyTy being the top choice.
-
@BShark With the idea of a heavy 2-guard rotation I would think.

Two guards with the ability to guard to guard lob again. Yes please.

Tyty can play off ball and probably would primarily play off ball under Self so he still fits the profile of what Self and staff are looking for.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 a bit of semantics then. I just don’t think they are looking for a 3 type unless Ochai leaves. Needs to be an actual guard.
-
Brandon McKissic to Florida
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich A KU commitment would have been really surprising given the offer was pulled.
-
Here’s an odd one. Jordan Nesbitt of Memphis signed with Memphis in the fall for their 2021 class (ranked #69 overall), joined the team early and played in 3 games. Now in the Transfer Portal. Smh
-
@BeddieKU23 going to UT
-
@BeddieKU23 he will probably go undrafted next year too. so there could be an argument to get out and get his career started sooner than later. thats the best way to make money. he wont by a top 60 next yr but he could get a spot somewhere and work his way on to a team this year
-
Dajuan Gordon to Methzu. Kid has made bad decisions his college career
-
Matt Bradley - Cal. Kid gets buckets

Missouri came out ahead in their trade.
-
I’m sure I just missed it but hadn’t realized that Brady Manek and then also Kyler Edwards had both entered the portol
-
Maryland lands both Fatts Russell and Wahab… big pick ups
Justin Powell to Tennessee
Omar Payne to Illinois
-
Would imagine it will be Turg’s best team at Maryland.
-
@BShark they should be pretty salty. Need Wiggins to stay too though.
-
KU officially offered Bishop from Creighton. That’s a interesting offer to me. He’s not really a player this team needs next year IMO. I’m not really sure how he fits .

Same. He’s not a wing. He’s a slightly better Jamari ¯_(ツ)_/¯
-
I would prepare for him to be a Jayhawk, fwiw.

So ends Jalen at the 5.

Bill is fully back on that 2 big life.
-
No tyty?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 More departures soon. Bill cleaning house.
-
Besides jossell?
-
-
I hope ochi isn’t gone. This team gets significantly worse if ochi is gone. Also from what I’ve seen, auburn is the front runner for ty ty. Not sure why we need another mediocre big guy in Christian bishop. This transfer portal is loaded and we are going to end up with cam Martin and Christian bishop?? Seems super underwhelming!!
-
@BShark said in 2021 Transfer Talk/List:
he has no where to go - -certainly not NBA ready. I don’t think or would at least hope he is smarter then that - - - NOT READY
-
Hard to add starting level bigs when you one are not trying to and two wouldn’t promise they would start over Jalen and Dave. Might be the wrong approach but it’s the one they are taking. Bishop is immediately the 2nd best big on the roster BTW but I think we would need to continue to start Jalen for his shooting.
If we don’t get TyTy I am very interested in the Yesufu kid from Drake and KU has reached out to him.
-
That’s my thing though, like why do we need to add 2 big guys. We have 3 big guy recruits coming in. 4 guards and 1 big is a much more effective lineup anyway… I get if we added length with a big time shot blocker but neither of these 2 guys are. What we lacked last year was a PG, but really it was no elite athlete shot creators. Our offense lacked a guy like Dotson, who had the ability to get to the rim whenever.
-
I would imagine Bill is going back to playing 2 bigs all the time with these moves. Zach needs a RS year imo, not sure Adams moves the needle. Taking some bridge guys does make sense if you want to be moving back to two bigs.
I will, however, be surprised if Bill doesn’t add 2 PGs, he has already added one. Whether the second is TyTy or a transfer I do not know. TyTy would be my first preference after watching Geico Nationals but the Yesufu kid is nice.
-
Our top 50 rated big guy needs a red shirt year? He can’t be good enough for 15min per game? That’s super sad if that’s true. I get adding one big guy but it’s super disappointing if we go to 2 big guys. I don’t get why self would. Modern game has moved past that. He’s had a lot of success the past 6-7 years playing 4 guards… also he said in the post game conference about becoming more athletic/ longer etc. neither of those two bigs fit that criteria lol
-
I think Och tests but comes back. He’s like #90 on a lot of boards.
-
@BShark is he transferring? Self recruiting over him? I’d get rid of Braun over him.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 ?? He’s not being recruited over. He averaged 14 pts per game and will be one of the best guards in the big 12 next year… and Christian braun is a good player. He will be better as a junior. maybe on a top 5 team, he’s more of a 6th man but we are so much worse if those two leave.

Christian is not going anywhere really had a very sub par season. - A lot of times didn’t even know he was on the floor wasn’t looking for his shot at all. Think he lost some confidence
-
He’s still a central part to this team going forward. He has great upside still. I’m not writing him off bc of a sub par end to the season. Svi was like that a lot his sophomore year. Look at guys like grimes etc. you have to let some guys grow. Braun is a perfect 4 year guy. Braun is not a nba guy. He’s a perfect role player. And there’s no one out there we are landing that’s better. This team lacked a PG, bench scorer, and an elite center

I’m not writing him off PERIOD that’s is why I said he IS NOT going anywhere - -with that sub par season - - where would he go ?
-
@jayhawks2010 I meant we don’t have room for 2 guys, do we?

Self’s not going back to a traditional two big line up. The 4 spot for the better part of the last 12 seasons has been manned by a stretch 4. Thomas Robinson is the primary exception along with Dedric Lawson for half a season. KU will have 2 guys who fit that mold of a stretch 4 play almost all of the minutes at that position next season in Jalen Wilson and Zach Clemence. Clemence doesn’t need a redshirt year because it wouldn’t do him much good. He’s a 4 and if Self tries playing him at the 5 spot in a regular line up, it will be an absolute disaster. Clemence can play the 5 in a small ball line up, but his game is not a 5’s game.
The 5 spot next year is going to be crowded, but I think taking Cam Martin is a clear sign the staff plans on redshirting Sydney Curry next season so he can focus on slimming down so he’s quick enough to guard post players when he enters the rotation in 2022-23.
