Other games 2024-2025

  • Goodness gracious.- -How bad is Arizona St ?–they jump all over KSU in the outset , up 15-0 and like 20-2---- -just keep clunking up 3 point attempts , think they have attempted 21 - - three point attempts and allowed KSU to gt back in the game. - - KSU now leads 35-32 at the half- - what a circus side show

  • Wisconsin led 24-4 against Indiana and coasted to their 21st in a row at home over Indiana. If you’re young maybe that isn’t too remarkable but if you remember IU basketball from way back it’s startling. Sports illustrated is still a thing and picked UW 17th in the league and IU 2nd.

  • @wissox well we ain’t the only ones struggling to live up to preseason hype

  • @kjayhawks Not sure how much you pay attention but Indiana is overhyped every year much the same way Nebraska is in football or even ND. Strangely UNC is starting to fall into that same category.

  • Looking at the rankings and I see Duke 2nd in KenPom and of course you can’t avoid Duke because they seem to be permanently enshrined on the main page of ESPN.com. But KenPom also shows the schedule strength and Dukes #'s are kind of weak for a top team. It’s not a big news item to report that the ACC is horrible. Louisville is the 2nd team in Ken Pom in the league, 28th, barely ranked in the polls, but if you look at Louisville’s schedule they have really zero quality wins. No ranked team wins except Indiana which is fraudulently ranked at the beginning of every season and Louisville beat them. By KenPom standards, Clemson is the 3rd team in the league and they have zero quality wins.

So at the end of the season when Duke finishes the league undefeated, which they probably will, Duke will be anointed as the big favorite, etc. etc. I’m not blind, I think they are a really decent team but hard to tell objectively because of that league they’re in. I don’t think they’d be undefeated in our league or the SEC. They did hand Auburn their only loss in Cameron.

The talk should be focused on Auburn because if the name on the shirt read read Duke, the media would be going nuts for what they’ve accomplished. I’m impressed by Auburn. To be unbeaten in that league is incredible. I know there’s still some time to stumble, but they’ll enter the dance as the prohibitive favorite.

  • @wissox all I thought I knew about the Dook hype train was confirmed in 2018. We had just beaten Dook in OT to go to the final four. Front page of ESPN on MBB after had nothing on the game except at the very bottom. The main headline was Coach K beats Calipari at his own game and was an article about the class they had coming in next year. Zero about how Kansas just beat them to go to a final four.

  • @kjayhawks exactly as i remember it. At the very least, espn should be aware that you typically read KU stuff and show it to you, while nefariously neglecting to show KU victory coverage to impartial audiences. Maybe they’ve corrected that. But i doubt it.

  • @wissox ya all ESPN does is talk , Flagg , Flagg , Flagg - -don’t get me wrong , Cooper is special , no doubts about that- -BUY I mean ESPN come on , there other stories in basketball other then Cooper.

Was watching the game last night and shocked as they were talking about Flagg and guess who they said had done the best job at limiting Flagg , slowing him down ?----- -KJ Adams

  • @approxinfinity @kjayhawks 3 times in KU’s glory years of later 80’s and early 90s we played Duke in the FF. My go to back then, especially when not living at KU was USA Today. Same thing. In 91 we beat UNC in the semifinals and the focus was Dean and Duke.

  • Not a game per se, but Mike Woodson is out at Indy. Every fan on twitter is yelling for Chris Beard. IDK, heck of a coach but goodness character issues abound. I wouldn’t want him for my team. I know the Texas thing was dropped, but still showed some lapses of judgment I think. Set me straight on him if I’m wrong.

  • Saw Zuby put the ball on the floor and take it to the rim in the second half against Sir Danny’s team. Should have been an and one, but since he’s over 6’5" and near the paint it’s a standard no call. Second leading scorer on #10 St John.

  • Nice, Zuby with the put back dunk and one. I can’t believe I find myself rooting for Pitino’s team. But, they are playing Hurley’s team, so there’s that.

  • Dam I wish we could of held on to Zuby. - How’s this for a stat line : - - -18 points- - - -9 rebounds— -6 assists-- – - & 3 blocks against Danny’s boys - -U Conn

  • Hurley was his usual petulant self; at one point he as so far out on the court he picked up a St John player’s shoe that had fallen off. I don’t like coaches who constantly wander out on the court like Bruce Weber.

  • @stoptheflop ya I seen that, that way the ref came over by him so he could whine, cry, and bitch some more

  • Dam so I tuned in to watch some of the KSU/ASU game and right off the bat found out that- - -For some reason Coleman Hawkins wasn’t playing today for K/State- – & Freeman ASU leading Scorer and player has been kicked off the team WOW

  • Okie state beat isu

  • Baylor got beat by cin.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 ISU freefalling.

  • Man, I hate to say this , cause I can’t stand them. Yet it sure looks to me that Duke should be the clear favorite to cut the nets down this year. They are just destroying anyone they are playing games aren’t even close.

They are pretty dang good , and the thing is who you going to ry and shut down ? -Obvious one is Flagg, but go ahead and then the others go off-- doesn’t look good for anyone else. there could be just haven’t seen the consistency of any others.-- Auburn --MAYBE, - Maybe Alabama if they turned it into a track meet and they hit their three’s- -other then that I dunno.

  • @SlimShaddy54 Knueppel is the best player on that team. Tough to stop.

  • @approxinfinity pick your poison their 5 guy is not joke-- — - — Knueppel – -- -Flagg - -doesn’t matter

  • Just saw that the Haskell womens coach got terminated because of DOGE actions. Maybe question this expense at the end of the season? But in season? Heartless.

  • UCF tried their best to give that game away against K/State , but ended up winning 80-76 -K/State on a four game losing streak

The Freshman for UCF Tiam pretty solid game – 11 points - -10 rebounds- -& - --8 blocks

  • K-state won their national championship beating us at home and have packed the season in

  • @MR11 Kinda like we did after beating Duke

  • Hey now, we are nothing like KState. They only had a 2 week stretch of good play where we are a coinflip every night.

  • @wissox said in Other games 2024-2025:

Why was he a probationary employee since 2021? Something else is amiss too.

He did say he would finish the season out - unpaid 😕

  • All I saw was let go mid season, nothing about probationary. Tweets rarely go into relevant facts!

  • @wissox I want to know why the hiring process is so messed up he was a probationary employee for 4! years. Not that anyone saw this coming, but it was avoidable and seems weird.

  • Lots of talk about St. Johns and now one East Coast SPN article saying could St. Johns be the 5th Big East champion of the century? I looked at their schedule. Underwhelming! 1-1 against top 25. They beat Creighton, that’s it, and Creighton is no longer ranked. Doesn’t sound like a champion to me.

  • Who else remembers the FT distraction at OU that was a 6ft gorilla behind the backboard and the head spun in a circle? I kind of miss those fan hijinks, but they made me mad during the game. What about the AZ or AZ St person behind the shower curtain. That was a good one. But I sure don’t miss the insensitive antics that we saw in Manhattan and Columbia.

  • Izzo pulled an alltimer today. UW was off to a great start and Tonje had an And 1 called. Izzo started complaining and the refs took the 2 points off the board saying it was before the shot. Huge momentum swing as we didn’t score and what would have been 16-4 remained at 13-4, they hit a 3 and suddenly we had ourselves a ballgame. Many big Izzo moments today. I like him as a coach still but refs really look over their shoulders at him if they know he’s staring at them.

  • Some one take a look at St. Johns season and tell me what’s wrong with saying it’s not all that impressive.

  • Because it’s my lunch break, got to watch what’s on, and I just saw one of Coach Cal’s brilliant players block a shot that came off the backboard awkwardly, a foot to the right of the goal, and bouncing away from the goal go up and swat it back at the backboard for the easiest goaltending call of all time.

  • The floor in KC is making my eyes bleed. NCAA has one of the best sports leagues out there and they go stupid with ridiculous paint jobs. I hope KU loses tonight so I don’t have to watch another game of this tournament on that ugliness. Well not really.

  • From the NYTimes. This makes the floor even worse:

“As part of commissioner Brett Yormark’s mission to “intersect sports and culture,” the Big 12 teamed with clothing brand Undefeated, which has five tally marks as its logo, to design the floor for its men’s and women’s tournaments at T-Mobile Center. Sticking with that theme, the Big 12, which uses Roman numerals for its logo, plastered XII(s) all over the floor in a style resembling a Magic Eye illusion.” Yormark losing points by the dozens in the court of public opinion with the way he’s ruining our conference.

  • Iowa St COULD be in real trouble today with BYU. Lipsey is hurting with a Groin issue , shoulder issue , thumb issue - -& Gilbert still dealing with a groin issue, not saying whether they playing-- playing limited or what- - Gibert sounds less likely again not playing or playing much

  • BYU looking good early. Iowa State defense causing disruptions but BYU lights out from three and it feels sustainable at this point

  • Oops, Cooper Flagg rolled ankle. Time to eliminate conference tournaments.

  • WOW , fools Gold ?— -Fools Gold ? ? - -Iowa State-- -TEN made three point made- - -BYU-- TEN Three point made-- mercy these two teams look really good . Iowa St- -up-- 53-49 at the HALF- -really fun to watch - Curtis Jones Iowa St in the first half with Twenty Two points

  • BYU takes ISU down

  • Defense in KC? never heard of her 😀

  • @Zabudda

Not surprised. BYU is perhaps the hottest team in America having won 9 straight and 13 of their last 15 dating back to February 8th. Very dangerous team heading into March if they continue to run the table.

  • Duke’s savior left their game today with an ankle injury and did not return (Flagg).

  • @BeddieKU23 Your right very dangerous. You just can’t key your defense on one -if you had to I would have to say it would have to be Saunders , but you just can’t. They play that five out . really spread the floor and not afraid to pull a quick three from anywhere, Made-Eighteen threes. No way would I want to see them in the NCAA’s

  • 18 threes and no one made more than 3! That’s so hard to guard. They’ve been super hot lately. The blowout over us is just the tip of the iceberg for big wins they’ve had.

  • Colorado staying right with Houston down 5 at the half

  • North Carolina won a battle with Wake Forest to basically knock Wake out of the tournament.

  • Elijah Hawkins “I always tell myself, I’ve been here before. I’m a dawg.”
