I also don’t think you will see Udeh play more than 20 mpg next season. So we are talking at most like 12MPG where this would be a thing? He won’t be able to stay on the floor longer than that. Pretty sure he’ll still be a foul machine next season.
If they were to try KJ at the 4 next yr - -don’t think you would see him playing any 5. - -IF Udeh is that foul machine next yr you talk about I think chances are more that Zuby would back Udeh more then KJ

@Kcmatt7 Self’s best teams tend to be ones that are very good inside the arc on both ends. I just worry about that line-up offensively.

@BShark Agreed those teams that had an Arthur, Withey, Morri, Dok, Big Dave ect
Self has said without that we do still score a lot in the paint so even though it’s not throw it in one on one in the post he’s happy with it.
KJ already has the ability to drive right and finish like Wilson but our 4 man has to be so versatile like Josh Jackson or Jwill that not sure KJ can unless he becomes this great shooter in the off-season. Send him up to the Warriors shooting coach!

KJ has shown that he can score and pass when given space. Heck, I could even see Kj and Udeh running pick n roll for lobs on occasion. I think Kj will be the 4 next year and Udeh and Zuby will hold down the 5. Juan, is obviously the point guard, which leaves 2 spots for scoring 2/3 guard wings. I’d bet a freshman fills one of those and we look for a transfer to fill the other. There’s an outside chance that Joe or Bobby fill in at the two but that would not be ideal. They are not Graham/Mason or Robinson/Chalmers level guards. Maybe Kev comes back and fills that 3 spot but I’m not sure that’s what is best for Kansas. He’s a great defender but I don’t think he will develop into a 35% or better 3 gun which we will definitely need with Harris, Udeh, and KJ all on the floor.

Not that there was much doubt , but guess there was some kind of rumor about Juan. - - Put to rest earlier today , since I’ve been on come scrolling across screen that Juan will return next year for KU. - I hadn’t even thought about it - -but that’s what came across -So that’s good

“Dajuan Harris, who will graduate from Kansas in May with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and sciences, will not be giving a Senior Night speech after Tuesday night’s Big 12 battle against Texas Tech at Allen Fieldhouse. “I’ve still got two more years left,” Harris, KU’s 6-foot-1, 170-pound point guard from Columbia, Missouri, said after scoring 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, dishing six assists, and swiping six steals in 36 minutes in Kansas’ 76-74 victory over West Virginia on Saturday. “We’ll see what happens. I hope I’ll be here another two years. Yeah, we’ll see what happens,” he added, speaking on the postgame show on the Jayhawk Radio Network.

@Woodrow great news, I think Juan is capable of having a good career over seas just not sure the NBA will give him a chance.

I was going to edit again and comment on this more.
I think it’s likely the staff is pretty happy with our post situation. If Zach goes you probably portal for a guy but KJ/Udeh/Zuby is a nice group. The big thing is Jalen and Gradey are leaving so we need shot takers. With the scholarship reduction down to 12 it really is hard to find room for a developmental big. Plus Evans might want to play immediately as well. The primary focus has to be the starting 4.
Is it an impossibility that KJ works on his shooting and steps out to the 4?
I really don’t understand this idea that KJ can’t be effective at the 4 unless he can shoot the 3. He has range to the free throw line and creates amazingly well on the short roll. Bill was able to find ways to get Marcus Garrett downhill. I think he can probably do the same for KJ…
To further my point, KU is 250th in 3PA this season. And not particularly effective at a .354 mark (thanks Gradey). On the contrary, we are 51st in 2PA on the season. Teams don’t even really guard Kev from 3. It isn’t like we are watching an offensive juggernaut this season. We are watching a team that passes the ball exceptionally well, runs in transition well, and plays very good defense. I don’t know how KJ at the 4 changes any of that.
That was my thought.

Everyone has doubted Juan from day one. Academics, D-1 player, no offense, shoots like a jr hi kid. Graduated in 4 yrs, made all district honor roll. Seems to me we can’t win without him. Wonder what he’ll be like in a yr or 2? Counting him out already? I’m not.

I see where KU ha reached out to 4 * Blue Cain since he has re-opened his recruitment I think it was from Georgia Tech. - KU one of several school interested

@jayballer67 Don’t think we get another guard as things sit. Only wings. Lots of kids will mention KU as contacting them, it means less than nothing.

Inside the Top 100, played at IMG. Shooter. Don’t like him more than the kid we sniffed at last month that committed to Wake Forest. If he was committed to Georgia Tech, I have questions to begin with.

We don’t needs any more guards for next year. We need wings and 4’s amd that’s all Self should be looking for at this point in 2023 options.

If they both left, then with other expected transfers, then it would make sense to go get an experienced guard. But if one or both stay, then I don’t see guard being a priority or need at this point over getting a 4 and a couple of wings because Rice is the only wing potentially coming back next season.

Agree the priority is replacing the 3 starters that are leaving.

Just read with Adams re-classifying - they graded him and he dropped from a rating of 96 - - -to a 94 , which they said was pretty standard procedure when a player moves up a class.
He is now ranked as the # 36 ranked player in the class of 2023 - ranked right ahead of Chris Johnson another KU commit who is ranked 37th.
Adams is ranked as the # 8 SF in the Nation & the # 9 ranked player out of the State of California - -His move also effected KU team rankings, KU went from the # 13th ranked class in 2023 to the # - - 5 th ranked class in the Nation for 20223 - - & the # 1 ranked class in the Big 1 surpassing Iowa State. - -A typical year for Bill and Staff - ROCK CHALK

May be ok but KU won’t take him - --not this year , bad timing and KU has their 5’s this coming year with Udeh & Zuby - -if you check out some of the other threads about transfer rumblings & transfer Portals you will see more who they are focused on now. - We have 4 incoming freshman -think rest of Scholi’s going to portal

According to the KU Men’s Basketball Facebook page, we’re about to get a commitment from a kid named Light Mitchfoot. Seems like he’d be a solid option for a backup post position.

My sources are telling me that it’s a package deal with his friend Thris Ceahan.

MacKenzie Mgbako the # 7 overall ranked player in the 2023 class is pulling out of his commitment to Duke. - All signs point to him re-opening his recruitment. We sure could of used him , would help answer our problems at the 4.He is a stretch 4 can shoot the 3 they say Mcdonalds All American. He will be the highest unsigned player - - Dam lol

You still make a very strong push for him at this point. He’ll likely be the best option to come available at the 4 spot and KU has a need and a lot of minutes to offer. If KU were able to somehow land this kid, Hunter Dickinson, and Primo Spears, that’d put KU as a top 10 team next season.
