Gameday- North Dakota State Bison

Last time we played these fools 2 years ago we only won by 4 (65-61). Wilson led the charge that day with 14 pts & 15 boards. It was Tyon Grant-Foster that saved our bacon off the bench that day.
ND St lost by 18 to #10 Arkansas in their opener (76-58).
They were led by Grant Nelson & Boden Skunberg who scored 17 a piece. I remember Nelson, he made an impact in that game 2 years ago as a freshman. He’s going to test our young frontcourt. Skunberg (what a last name) is not an efficient scoring guard & I think a guy named Kevin McCullar will have that matchup on lockdown.
Very young team, no Seniors on the roster.
Expecting a comfy win. Perhaps we see some MJ Rice today?? What do we want to see today?

Great game to get #23, Udeh and#35, Zuby playing time against more experienced bigs like we will see Tuesday against Duke. Duke got 22 pts from its C, Young 6’10" and F, Filipowski 7’ in its opener. N Dakota St F, Nelson #4 scored 17 pts against Arkansas; he’s 6’11". The Bison also got 7 pts from F Morgan, #23; he’s 6’10". I don’t worry about the opponent’s guards beating us. I do worry about defending the opponent’s bigs, which is exactly what KU has relied upon in the past to beat opponents. These early games are going to remind us how much Dave meant to us the last 2 years.

Just a hunch (with maybe a bit of rumor) but I wouldn’t expect to see MJ for a while.

I threw out the MJ bit not expecting he’d play. I have a good guess where MJ is right now and its not a good place to be this early for a freshman. Hopefully he comes out a better version of himself on the other end of this.

This is exactly how my wife and adult daughters talk at the dinner table and I don’t have a clue what in the hell they are talking about. And, they like it that way.

@Woodrow he’s definitely hurt, which hasn’t helped the other stuff. I hate to be so cryptic but I don’t feel comfortable sharing any details until I understand the situation better.
And I can rule out one thing. This is absolutely not a Cliff/Cheick situation. He’s 100% cleared and there aren’t any issues there.

It’s going to take time to see a cohesive effort. Solving the 5 riddle would help. KJ is stopgap only. I say we throw in Udeh from the git go, and get him some on the job training. I’d like to see us press them from the opening tip, and give Dook something to work on. As much as I was pulling for Joe, I think the team looked much better with Bobby on the court. Hoping they bump Bobby’s minutes- he has nice scoring ability, and always puts pressure on the defense. McCullars sparked a big run last game, but I thot he deferred too much at the start of the game. I hope we get him turned up from the git.

@Jethro agreed gotta role with Udeh and let kj play as a spark off the bench.
Same for Bobby he needs more minutes and Joe less.
McCullars is going to have a breakout game shooting hopefully against Duke (he had 17 against them in the tourney last year when tech should have won). Article on him working on his jumper when it starts to fall we got 3 legit wings scoring that’s going to be money.

Jayhawk Network radio pregame is very hard to listen to. 2 minutes program, then 2-3 minutes of commercials. Too damn many commercials. Jeez.
