URPing in the Hollow Halls... (no... not "Hallow!")
-
I haven’t been here as much. Been spending a lot of on line time over at the Sox site with their great season having me hyped up. Don’t want to be that annoying guy hyping up my team that no one else cares about so i don’t mention it here unless it involves the Royals. I think the disappointing end to the last two seasons has lessened my enthusiasm for KU hoops but it will certainly come back when the games begin again.
-
I think Harris will be hugely improved this year. He’s gained noticeable strength over the summer and is more confident. He already had the basketball IQ wit that just can’t be taught… like sensing steals. We shouldn’t forget his play making abilities, too. He just makes everyone better… in games and also in practice.
This team should be our best shot since the Doke/Dot combo. I think, actually, a more entertaining team to watch! Self described it… 4 players playing 1 3/4 positions. So that means Braum/Agbaji playing the 3?
If Cam can survive in post defense… he can really spread the floor on the O end.
Definite on team speed increasing… overall athleticism improved! Hearing good things about several returning players improved.
-
Rothstein also tweeted about guys playing 94 feet of defense. I’ve always wanted to see KU press so hopefully that’ll come to fruition. Seems like they have the athletes and depth to do it
-
You and me both. I still have my doubts we will see it though. I don’t think it really works to attempt if the coach isn’t 100% into presses. I’ve never seen Self get excited about running presses.

URP UPDATE: Historic timeline outputted. Next will be the Gettysburg Address. For those holding your breath… good news… ventilators are becoming widely available as Covid cases decline.
-
The IARP timeline was posted yesterday. Riveting transparency into the case.

Martin receives keys to his new car while Kansas basketball awaits punishment for innuendo phone call to Adidas.
I’m trying to laugh this off… except my belly pains prevent that.
-
As long as Mama Preston didn’t buy it, I think we’re good.
-
@BeddieKU23 man did karma bite her.
-
Let’s guess this will conveniently happen after KU gets punished
-
@BeddieKU23 nice!
-
Poor Bryce Thompson!
Pathetic NCAA
-
@BeddieKU23 saw where his sister signed to play Vb at OU
-
@BeddieKU23 I don’t like many things about this. South Carolina did a similar thing and didn’t get punished nearly as badly. Lamont Evans, the assistant coach who got OSU in trouble, also worked at USC. USC has not received a postseason ban. The timing, doing this now as the season is starting, sucks. None of the current players at OSU had anything to do with this. It also feels like the NCAA wanted to wait until Cade Cunningham left before they punished OSU so that their tournament would have better ratings.
It’s hard to see this and not think the NCAA has some sort of grudge against OSU (they successfully sued the NCAA a while ago). The lesson here is don’t cooperate with the NCAA.
-
Just the icing on the cake to never cooperate with the NCAA. KU did with Silvio and they used that in the NOA. Tin hearted people.
-
@BeddieKU23 I read that article (the one about OSU) and was having trouble with the story. Because it started out acting as if OSU was being punished for the 300 dollars and this is really outrageous. But then it was talking about the other program transgression and I was thinking, wait is the consequence a cumulative punishment, or just as the article implied? Any insight on this?
-
The Original penalties were from former Associate Head Coach Lamont Evans who was given a Level 1 violation. Evans accepted around 20k in bribes to steer players to certain agents and financial advisors (both at OSU and South Carolina where he was before).
The NCAA in 2017 agreed with OSU that Evans acted alone for his own personal gain.
They appealed and were allowed to play in 2021 NCAA Tourney. Now the appeal has been rejected, 17 months later.
The NCAA said Evans lack of cooperation played a part in the punishment handed down. Pathetic.
The only evidence the NCAA found outside of what was provided to them by the Federal Courts was a $300 payment Evans made to OSU star Jeffrey Carroll, who later repaid the money and was suspended 3 games during the 18-19 season.
That organization needs to burn.
-
We better enjoy this season. There’s no hope with the NCAA still running things
-
“no hope with the ncaa running things” I totally agree but it’s just absolutely mind-blowing that we thought the same thing about 19, like lets enjoy this year because the shoe’s gonna drop the next. Here we are two years later, heck 3 years from that season and we’re still waiting and wondering if we’re going to get hammered. AD’s must be going bonkers dealing with the NCAA.
-
It does appear there will be a decision before the 22-23 season starts. As far as I know KU has no appeal rights after this as well. Maybe the NCAA takes a dirt nap before it happens.

Was he still at OSU when he didn’t cooperate? That gets imputed to the school if he was.
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich Is it just me, or does the NCAA tend to focus mostly on Midwestern non-Nike schools?

Oklahoma St. is a Nike school though.

I wasn’t sure if they were or weren’t, but that aside does it not seem that most schools being scrutinized and more importantly being punished are of the Midwestern variety?

I wouldn’t really consider LSU or Arizona to be Midwest schools and they’re two of the more high profile schools that have also self imposed or are being investigated right now.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 nor would I. But the question remains, aren’t most of them Midwest?

I don’t believe he was still coaching for them at the time. It took the FBI to uncover his misdeeds
-
Just literally burn this organization to the ground
