They gave a timeline for a timeline. Only the NCAA… I certainly get the sense whenever they do release whatever its going to be a huge distraction to the team.
Agree and probably even a bigger one to recruits
Yeah recruiting has been impacted for several years now. This 22 class has been much better then others but even if they sign all 3 there’s nothing guaranteed with what’s looming. Expect the worst, be happy if its not as bad as we think it could be.
Ya worst case scenario we could get hit and if not already Rice de-commits, which I’m not really that sure on him anyways still wait and see him on the floor. If we get hit Rice may say nope - - Dick might too

I haven’t pulled the stats to see how many unique visitors we have. I’m sure its down a little, but we will see come bball season. We may want to try to pull some new voices in. I haven’t had much success in my limited attempts. We’ve lost a few of our more outspoken members. Are numbers down on other sports chat boards too?
I know I’ve just been super busy with the start of the school year and a bunch of other stuff happening in my life all summer. Haven’t had much time, energy or interest in posting about basketball during the offseason. I’m looking forward to the season though!
-
I had thoughts that having Covid keeping more people home… it would spark our site. More time, more involvement.
But I have to admit I watch less sports since Covid (but still as rabid for Jayhawks and Chiefs!). We had the live sports cancellations early on and it changed my habits and I’ve never looked back!
I’m a human once again… not just a sports wonk! lol
-
@drgnslayr Throw in the amount of unprocessed grief and trauma for just enduring the last year and a half while many seem to just be going about there business as if everything is back to normal…
-
There seems to be a lot less actual coverage of KU these days as well. No insiders giving scoop about players. There was some twitter hype about Harris being a “standout from the offseason”. Unless that means he can shoot the ball and will now score I see no reason to get overly excited about that.
Self seems to like the group he’s assembled but doesn’t know how its all going to fit together.
Remy Martin has been hurt so that’s slowed him down. Need to keep him healthy to be a Top 5 team

Ditto, bro. … I’ve found a new appreciation for the little things (which aren’t so little), such as spending time with my family and enjoying their company.

The last few years have destroyed what little social consciousness this country had. We have entered an era of insular hyper individualism, feeling disconnected from the whole.
Maybe it was all a grand facade that has been shattered, that our common man was never so noble as we hoped him to be. Maybe this is a capitalist end game where giant monopolies greedily gobble up everything while we turn inward and ignore the changing economic landscape. Maybe what will seem like an eternity will just be half a lifetime and we will find what unites us again.
I expect college basketball to haunt me with echoes of yesteryears, and I hope that I can find beauty contained in the 94 by 50 that cannot be defiled still.

The Harris hype came because Bill Self said Harris would start right now over Remy at PG. I’ve said all off-season that Harris will play a lot next season because of his defense. He doesn’t need to be an elite scorer the way Remy is. Harris just needs to play lock down on ball defense and knock down open threes like he did towards the end of last season.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I like Harris too. Looking at our roster, I can’t help - and I like his game and saavy - but to think that Braun is going to see a decrease in minutes.
-
@benshawks08 sorry to hear you’ve been going thru that. I know exactly what you mean, been there.
-
John Rothstein also went to a KU practice a few days ago. Tweeting about the palpable hype regarding Harris. Also mentioned this team could be 10 deep (we know that’s unlikely with how Self operates). Mentioned Martin possibly being able to play off the ball. Mentioned the shooting abilities of Martin and Coleman-Lands. But your right Self talking about Harris certainly is helping drive it.
Would be intriguing to see Harris/Martin on the court at the same time. I absolutely prefer two guards to playing the Braun/Agbaji combo again a majority of minutes.
-
Certainly sounds like Pettiford will have a role as a freshman.
-
One thing I’ll be interested to see if Rothstein is correct, he mentioned team speed is improved from last season. I’d hope so with this roster
-
I haven’t been here as much. Been spending a lot of on line time over at the Sox site with their great season having me hyped up. Don’t want to be that annoying guy hyping up my team that no one else cares about so i don’t mention it here unless it involves the Royals. I think the disappointing end to the last two seasons has lessened my enthusiasm for KU hoops but it will certainly come back when the games begin again.
-
I think Harris will be hugely improved this year. He’s gained noticeable strength over the summer and is more confident. He already had the basketball IQ wit that just can’t be taught… like sensing steals. We shouldn’t forget his play making abilities, too. He just makes everyone better… in games and also in practice.
This team should be our best shot since the Doke/Dot combo. I think, actually, a more entertaining team to watch! Self described it… 4 players playing 1 3/4 positions. So that means Braum/Agbaji playing the 3?
If Cam can survive in post defense… he can really spread the floor on the O end.
Definite on team speed increasing… overall athleticism improved! Hearing good things about several returning players improved.
-
Rothstein also tweeted about guys playing 94 feet of defense. I’ve always wanted to see KU press so hopefully that’ll come to fruition. Seems like they have the athletes and depth to do it
-
You and me both. I still have my doubts we will see it though. I don’t think it really works to attempt if the coach isn’t 100% into presses. I’ve never seen Self get excited about running presses.
-
URP UPDATE: Historic timeline outputted. Next will be the Gettysburg Address. For those holding your breath… good news… ventilators are becoming widely available as Covid cases decline.
-
The IARP timeline was posted yesterday. Riveting transparency into the case.

Martin receives keys to his new car while Kansas basketball awaits punishment for innuendo phone call to Adidas.
I’m trying to laugh this off… except my belly pains prevent that.
-
As long as Mama Preston didn’t buy it, I think we’re good.
-
@BeddieKU23 man did karma bite her.
-
Let’s guess this will conveniently happen after KU gets punished
-
@BeddieKU23 nice!
-
Poor Bryce Thompson!
Pathetic NCAA
-
@BeddieKU23 saw where his sister signed to play Vb at OU
-
@BeddieKU23 I don’t like many things about this. South Carolina did a similar thing and didn’t get punished nearly as badly. Lamont Evans, the assistant coach who got OSU in trouble, also worked at USC. USC has not received a postseason ban. The timing, doing this now as the season is starting, sucks. None of the current players at OSU had anything to do with this. It also feels like the NCAA wanted to wait until Cade Cunningham left before they punished OSU so that their tournament would have better ratings.
It’s hard to see this and not think the NCAA has some sort of grudge against OSU (they successfully sued the NCAA a while ago). The lesson here is don’t cooperate with the NCAA.
-
Just the icing on the cake to never cooperate with the NCAA. KU did with Silvio and they used that in the NOA. Tin hearted people.
-
@BeddieKU23 I read that article (the one about OSU) and was having trouble with the story. Because it started out acting as if OSU was being punished for the 300 dollars and this is really outrageous. But then it was talking about the other program transgression and I was thinking, wait is the consequence a cumulative punishment, or just as the article implied? Any insight on this?
-
The Original penalties were from former Associate Head Coach Lamont Evans who was given a Level 1 violation. Evans accepted around 20k in bribes to steer players to certain agents and financial advisors (both at OSU and South Carolina where he was before).
The NCAA in 2017 agreed with OSU that Evans acted alone for his own personal gain.
They appealed and were allowed to play in 2021 NCAA Tourney. Now the appeal has been rejected, 17 months later.
The NCAA said Evans lack of cooperation played a part in the punishment handed down. Pathetic.
The only evidence the NCAA found outside of what was provided to them by the Federal Courts was a $300 payment Evans made to OSU star Jeffrey Carroll, who later repaid the money and was suspended 3 games during the 18-19 season.
That organization needs to burn.
-
We better enjoy this season. There’s no hope with the NCAA still running things
-
“no hope with the ncaa running things” I totally agree but it’s just absolutely mind-blowing that we thought the same thing about 19, like lets enjoy this year because the shoe’s gonna drop the next. Here we are two years later, heck 3 years from that season and we’re still waiting and wondering if we’re going to get hammered. AD’s must be going bonkers dealing with the NCAA.
-
It does appear there will be a decision before the 22-23 season starts. As far as I know KU has no appeal rights after this as well. Maybe the NCAA takes a dirt nap before it happens.

Was he still at OSU when he didn’t cooperate? That gets imputed to the school if he was.
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich Is it just me, or does the NCAA tend to focus mostly on Midwestern non-Nike schools?

I wasn’t sure if they were or weren’t, but that aside does it not seem that most schools being scrutinized and more importantly being punished are of the Midwestern variety?

I wouldn’t really consider LSU or Arizona to be Midwest schools and they’re two of the more high profile schools that have also self imposed or are being investigated right now.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 nor would I. But the question remains, aren’t most of them Midwest?

I don’t believe he was still coaching for them at the time. It took the FBI to uncover his misdeeds

Just literally burn this organization to the ground
