Wichita lololol

  • He [Marshall] should be gone. I always knew he was a classless jerk, but I didn’t know he was this much of a classless jerk. I don’t like WSU at all, but I feel mildly bad for their fans/players.

  • He’s like Bob Knight on Dexamethasone steroids, but with a fraction of the coaching talent.

  • When the allegations first came out, I wasn’t sure. But I think the thing that is most telling is that several of his most prominent former players - guys like Fred Van Vleet, Ron Baker, Landry Shamet - haven’t said a word in his defense that I can find. That’s pretty damning, because if they don’t even have an interest in publicly defending him, he’s probably sunk. If one of them were to come to his defense, he might be able to save himself. If not, he’s in too deep.

Schools are going to have to do a better job of keeping an eye on abuse of student athletes. This doesn’t rise to the level of what happened at Michigan State, obviously, but it’s a pattern that cannot continue. We saw it at KU with Mangino (the real reason he had to go). Schools are putting themselves on the chopping block if they don’t get these types of things handled. Marshall may be out permanently.

  • I heard that the guy was also trying to ban all of his players from observing national holidays, that is ofcourse unless they brought him booze - Johnny Walker Black Label, to be specific. The guy obviously had to go. It would only be a matter of time before he started picking up chairs.

  • Meanwhile… I started some conversations in the “Land of Shocked Wheat” and haven’t been surprised. The diehard fans still defend him and have become nasty in doing so. But I went deeper into administration and people are keeping cards close to their chest but the basic energy felt is one of him being guilty and change is on the way. I’m not necessarily thinking he gets fired. Hope to chat with some past players soon. I won’t share names.

So if he is found guilty and terminated… I put this question out to all of you…

Is WSU better off today than the day they hired him? He did bring them success and a move to a better conference.

  • @FarmerJayhawk this is chocking, I mean shocking.

  • For a minute there I really didn’t think Wichita was going to do the sensible thing and let him go.

  • this is the ONLY thing they could and should do - - BYE BYE Marsha , well rightfully this is the only way - -guess they will find new place for the wife to booze it up lmao, they can sit on the couch and she can suck the suds and he can talk about practice lol

  • I really hope Danny doesn’t take the job.

  • Already throwing names out such as : - -Bringing Thad Matta out of retirement - - - Danny Manning - - - Danny Ainge - - -Steve Eck - - - Larry Brown - - - Mark Turgeon - -look at them throw those out - -and to all of those I would say ummm NO

  • @jayballer67 Steve eck? Hmm

ya, that’s one of them I saw mentioned name being thrown out. - -Also seen a name of Griffin - -not quite sure who that would be – -you ?

  • Adrian griffin, from wichita, ast in the nba. Heard he wanted it.

  • Eck is at hcc

  • Just for the sake of conversation, would Danny taking the WSU job make folks fans? I say yes. I kind of liked them as the plucky underdog when Turg was there, then really hated Gregggggggggggg “chicken hawks” Marshall. The American seems like more Danny’s speed than the ACC and I think he could be successful with assistants who were good recruiters.

  • WSU is not going to be an easy job for whoever takes it. Overly high expectations from fans, Koch interference holding the purse strings, and no real way to recruit the type of players needed to consistently compete with Memphis, Houston, etc.

Ahh ya , I was thinking that wasn’t he a former player ? - - somehow I was thinking there was a WSU connection - -just couldn’t remember 1st name

ya I agree I would pull for them IF Danny ended there - -a little anyways - -Danny still a JayHawk forever - I mean after all he was the big part of Danny and the Miracles.

would be hard but I think you would find KU people maybe not pulling for WSU BUT pulling for Danny . – ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Marsha has officially resigned. Yay

Will get almost 8 million in settlement $ over the next 6 years.

  • @BeddieKU23 I hope Ron and Fred come out now and back shaq. I think Connor took some of his abuse too. 3 G made a lot of money. I think the AD knew about these incidents too. Nobody wins.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 This is from an email put out by the Wichita Eagle:

Marshall received support from former WSU basketball players since the allegations were made public, but none of those public supporters were with the Shockers during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons when the coach allegedly engaged in the physical abuse that triggered the investigation.

Fred VanVleet, Ron Baker and Landry Shamet — three of Marshall’s most famous alums who all reached the NBA — have not publicly weighed in on their view of Marshall in light of the allegations.

The closest any of them have come was when Baker was asked about the topic on the 4 SZNS NBA Podcast released on Nov. 10.

“Think about 14 years ago and think now what Coach Marshall has done there, so (the boosters) coming out and saying they support (Marshall), I totally get it,” Baker said. “But my only defense right now is they weren’t in the gym when those things were happening. So they’ve got to understand where I come from when I walk the fence line. There will definitely be a time where I think I’ll get into more depth.”

It will be interesting if Ron says more publicly for sure.

  • @bcjayhawk that’s exactly what I was referring to, the silent guys have said a lot🤫
