Darryn Peterson

I am OUT on this kid. Yesterday was ridiculous
-
@ROCKCHALK2025 said in Darryn Peterson:
@imajayhawk Self was saying he was on a minute restriction and they screwed it up. -He said also that Darryn was doing good to start the 2nd half and then his knees started to act up some
His knees? That’s new. So now we have yet another body part on a 20 year old that is hurting? Yikes.
-
Btw, I forgot say that when DP was out in the second half, I kept waiting, thinking that Self would put him back in at the 4-minute mark. Save him for the stretch run. bummer all around.
-
Womp womp. Self is handed a ready to go day 1 generational talent for the first time in his career and we’ve gotta deal with this stuff.
Genuinely think this team is a contender with him. 1st weekend exit without.
-
@Kcmatt7 yep, absurd
-
I hope we don't boo Nnaji when Baylor comes to town.
-
@Kcmatt7 with a healthy DP, yes - contender. But at this point we need to forget about him and I think we can still be a contender
-
@rockchalkjayhawk No I was referring to his cramps
-
@nuleafjhawk
I’m not sure she’s cheering -
His camp and Adidas have put Coach in such a messed up situation…
-
Self is starting to take a lot of hits among fans and media by maintaining silence. I hate this dumb culture in so many ways. We're talking about a game. It involves 5 kids throwing a ball around and 5 kids trying to stop them and we can't be told why he can't play all game? Because it looks like, depending on who you read that 1. He's protecting himself for the NBA. 2. His parents are in the stands signaling him to leave the game 3. Adidas is influencing it. 4. He's truly hurt. 5. ????
-
Well, all I know is that for the majority of fans, the whole situation is beyond frustrating.
-
I was at the Louisville game when all of this started. I sat in the last row of the KU family section right behind the bench. I saw his mom run to the concession stand and get him ice cream. I assume they did this for legit cramping. If they did this as a big fake-out on everyone, I'd be utterly shocked.
-
@BigBad I have a little cramping going on right now. I would like her to bring peppermint ice cream please.
-
@BigBad What kind of ice cream? That's important to know!
-
But I should know that whenever I have cramping (she'll never know if I do or not) I'll ask for ice cream.
-
Sometimes my gf asks for ice cream when she’s cramping but that’s a different deal entirely

-
@FarmerJayhawk comfort food!
-
@wissox83 thank God she didn't breastfeed him
-
@wissox83 Frankly, HCBS deserves to take some hits. His comments following the game were...curious...
He says DP was on a minutes restriction, even though he was supposedly 100% (wasn't going to play unless that was the case, as we were told...)? So, if really was going to be limited to 24 minutes, he plays 18 in the 1st half??? Okay, dictated by the Council and Flory foul situation? Then why start him in the 2nd half and ensure he wouldn't be available later in the game???
Then he says that Elmarko only played 11 minutes because he had a bum knee coming into the game. So, he plays at less than 100%, but not DP??? And, if Elmarko really was less than 100%, why not give some of the other guys a few minutes, i.e., Dawson? It's not like a 100% Elmarko is a difference maker...
It's possible that we are a second weekend team with a fully functioning and well integrated DP, but that hasn't really been demonstrated yet. We've lost to all the best teams we've played, even when DP has contributed. Our best win is over a 10-4 Tennessee team that may be a middle of the pack SEC team.
But with DP lighting it up in the 1st half, UCF still lead at half. Everyone else deferred to him. Council lit it up in the 2nd half, but we don't have anyone else who can consistently score - or at least create their own shot (Tre tried, but he really doesn't have the skill set - he is more of a good complementary player).
The only way this group beat the better teams is that DP plays, scores, but also makes his teammates better by creating opportunities for easy buckets when he is the focus on the defense. That isn't happening now...
