Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread

  • Looks like an honest recruitment here tbh.

  • After DeAndre Ayton picked Arizona over KU no prospect is a lock until he sign the LOI and even then things can happen and the prospect might never play. He only sure thing is that there is no sure thing.

  • So our late night list stands at 9 right now, we don’t want to get too many, can’t give that one on one attention as much but they are: Jalen Carey - - -Quentin Grimes - - Zion Griffin- - Malik Hall- - Zach Harvey- - Jeremiah Robinson- - Samuell Williamson- - Ty Berry- - & N’faly Dante.

I know Harvey has been to multiple late nights plus games, & Jeremiah Robinson I believe also has been to multiple late nights - -but 209 recruits which we have to keep the hammer down on cause I think they are ours for the taking, all we have to do stay in contact both nice players… - -I think things could be sitting up pretty nice for us in the next couple of years, think our chances with Chandler Lawson obviously are pretty strong we shall see - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54

Carey might not make it. The rest though, are all high targets for the most part. Dante is gonna be unreal. Hope he ends up at KU.

JRE looks like a top priority, and rumoured to be a silent commit. Dunno as much about Harvey.

  • I’ve come to a conclusion and that is, the reason Robinson hasn’t made any announcement about where he is committing is BECAUSE he isn’t committing anywhere. I think the longer this goes without some kind of announcement means just more likely he just going to sit and Train and then Declare for the NBA, probably really doesn’t want to mess with going to class, so just not enroll anywhere and just workout, - -looking like to me that’s what’s going to happen, time runnin out. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • He might be best served to just go back to WKU. shrug

  • @BShark ya, actually that would be the obvious choice, the thing is, the kid should of thought about this kind of scenario before leaving in the 1st place. - -left pretty hastily , lack of better judgement on how he left- - I mean come on , you text your Coach and tell them? - -That’s not really the classiest way to do things. This won’t happen BUT with that being said , it would suck if WKU refused to let him come back, the Coach could say uh - -NOPE you made your choice.

How’s that going to settle with the other players at WKU? more then likely no biggie BUT you just never know for sure, you always might have that other player with the train of thought like WTH? but anyways that would be the best scenario for him. - -Not have to worry about any waiver, be eligible to play this year and then next year declare for the NBA. - -Again he is going to do some suckin up to WKU to be allowed back, some kind of stipulations or discipline I would think if he wanted back. - -Again texting to say your pullin out? lack of class. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Lol. actually kind of amuzing, the day after Coach Self says doesn’t think we will be adding anybody to our current roster - -according to 247 our chances for landing him went up lmao. - -We were at 40% - -40% - now 50% - -30% what a circus with these predictors. Not sure if any of them have any idea - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Just out of boredom, went to WKU board, they roasting Robinson pretty good for the most part, saying he was using WKU as a last resort - how he would have to really kiss up to come back Stansbury needed to suspend him for a period and how he would have to be accepted by the players, how he shouldn’t get special treatment

I guess classes start there tomorrow? I dunno said it would come to a head for them Monday - -I still now feel he is just going to sit and train and then declare. - -we know this he isn’t coming here. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Well Read that David McCormack had a great in-official visit to KU , I thought it was an official, now I know he was in thick from what I heard with Duke at one point anyways, he is listed as the # 2 center in the class of 2018 - -but if he took an un-official here the kid must be at least some what interested, spending his own dime, OKlahoma St has the edge according to 247 right now - -but he said he loved the Campus here and the facilities, Article said even though he has none sit up yet wouldn’t be surprised to see him turn around and schedule an official.

Also saw where Emmit Williams listed his top 7: - - LSU , Org , Duke , Mia , KU , USC , & Florida. - -Some don’t feel he will end up here , this is another kid I’ve jumped on board sometime back and feel like we have a legit shot, would love to land him, Time will tell. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Just saw Robinson isn’t playing college ball

  • @jayballer54 Would love to see Williams become a Jayhawk. Nike and his handler make it a tough one. He’d be a great Jayhawk and a great fit in general. He’d absolutely find minutes. Has the kind of energy you just can’t teach.

  • McCormack would be a good add. Almost certainly not a OAD, but can be super productive at this level. KU should get an official later on. Williams is a total freak show. 11/10 athlete and motor, and because of his size (maybe 6’7?) he won’t be in a hurry to bolt either.

  • McCormack and Williams would be a hell of a post class.

  • @FarmerJayhawk you are right on about Williams - - loved this kid for awhile, I got guys I latch too, most here know I’ve been a huge Devon Dotson guy for some time - -I feel the same about Williams like you say he is an absolute freak and has THAT EDGE, wants to destroy the rim, just has this certain game attitude you have to love, would be a really sweet pickup. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • BShark said:

McCormack and Williams would be a hell of a post class. they would make a sweet duo, that’s for sure. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54

I was not a top 10 player in basketball so I would not know how difficult is to make this type of decision; I imagine pretty darn difficult. Also, think back when you were 18 years old, how good was your decision making? Mine (and I suspect most of us) was not that good so I will cut the kid a break.

If he decides to go back to WKU, I am sure they will take him back,. In today’s environment you just don’t say no to that kind of a talent.

Williams list is all Nike but KU… Nike running his recruitment

  • Rankings update at ESPN.

Grimes #13, Dotson up to #26 which is just outside 5 star territory.

    Zion #2 behind Barrett.

Others: Langford #5 (way too high after his summer and being cut from Team USA)

Keldon Johnson up to 7, seems high but ESPN is guessing he ends up at Kentucky so they can pump up their class.

Emmitt Williams #20, McCormack up to #33 (probably still a bit under-ranked), Jalen Carey flew up to #34 (going to suck seeing him play somewhere else), Jermaine Harris #85, PF who will visit in Early October.

  • They are all performing the UK bump in advance with Keldon. 😂

I can’t see Harris going anywhere but WVU.

This should be a good class for KU.

  • @BeddieKU23 No Zion Griffin, hmm

  • Also, saw somewhere that Dotson has a scheduled visit this weekend at KU, could we see our first big commit of the year in just a few days from now? I hope so!

  • @RockkChalkk Ya he has had his visit scheduled, coming on the 25th, still gonna be interesting as to if he can help us pull Zion with him - -the shoes may be a big lure too seems to be playing out that way. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • RockkChalkk said:

    @BeddieKU23 No Zion Griffin, hmm

They probably still don’t know who he is. A quick search of their database and he’s not even in it.

Will affect his composite score but 247 definitely took notice of him and has him ranked where he should be.

  • RockkChalkk said:

Yeah I think we see him announce pretty soon after the visit

  • @BeddieKU23 I’d almost be surprised if he visits anywhere else. More time for him to work on Zion! Who I think is a UK/KU battle right now. Duke seems to have moved to Reddish (lock) and Barrett, who’s pretty open to any school with a check mark.

I agree, especially if the info that Dotson to KU has been a done deal for weeks now. It’s also important that he didn’t schedule any other visits after KU’s either like the Florida trip that has been mentioned so often. I get the feeling this one is a wrap!

  • @FarmerJayhawk

Yeah Reddish to Duke has been done since forever.

I think your right about Zion.

I think Barrett ends up at Kentucky even though he grew up a Duke fan I see Reddish being in his way as they play the same position

  • @BeddieKU23 Me To, remember how this has been my guy for so long? - -Others were more with Grimes, and I said I like Dotson, don’t get me wrong Grimes is a stud too, but I’m just tingly all over lol - - well not really but you know what I mean - -If it comes to pas like I /we are all feeling it will make my day for sure, even more so after I got to watch him in some games.

The kid is fearless seems to me taking it to the hole, and maybe it’s just me but dam he seems like he is quick. - -I would love to get Grimes also Dotson our Pg - -Grimes as a shooting guard and I feel we have a pretty dam good chance of that happening too - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @BeddieKU23 I think Barrett written all over him. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54

Yup Dotson is your boy! I’m high on him as well. I’ve been on the Dotson/Grimes duo for a while. That has been my prediction since the spring. We’ll see whether we get both or not.

  • From a 247 article

Moses Brown, the No. 2 ranked center in the 2018 class by the 247Sports Composite, appears focused on Louisville, Maryland and Kansas and the No. 2 rated center in the 247Sports Composite has official visits scheduled with the Cardinals and Terps next month.

A five-star center from New York, Brown is scheduled to make his visit official visit to Louisville September 1-2, his coach, Mike McCleary, told InsideTheVille Wednesday.

“I assume since they offered him a visit so early the like him a lot,” McCleary said. “It’s his first visit so I think that means a lot. For him it was difficult to decide who he wanted to visit.”

Brown also has an official visit set with Maryland for Sept. 28.

“Coach Bino (Ranson) has been the most consistent and worked the hardest when it came to recruiting him,” said McCleary. “He’s stayed close to him (Brown) the whole time and I know that meant a lot to Moses.”

“I don’t have a feel which way he’s leaning,” McCleary said. “It’s really up to the visits to figure out which place he fits in best.”

McCleary said he thinks Brown will also set up a visit to Kansas.

“Past that I’m not sure (if he’ll visit other programs),” McCleary said.

His dad is saying the right things publicly but if the UF visit never happens, that’s great.

  • @BeddieKU23 Fingers crossed for both - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Well if we follow the visits for Brown and quotes doesn’t sound like KU has much of a chance here…

Weird recruitment. I think he was hoping for a UK offer.

From the sounds of it he wanted Duke as well.

I think the media wanted to make him better then he is. He’s got a lot of potential that a College team could untap, the big question mark being how motivated he’ll be to develop and how long he’ll stay.

For KU I’d take McCormack over him because he’s really improved a ton in the last year and David will come into College ready physically to hold up in the post. The work Oak Hill’s coach has done with him is a big reason he’s now pushing the upper echelon of 4 star status.

Regardless I hope Moses visits as well. never hurts to get a top big on campus in a class that has limited options in the post.

  • Well and the trend just keeps rolling. Which is a good thing for us I hope. - -Saw where we just picked up another CB for Zion Williamson about an hour ago a guy named Ted Hyman now takes us to 43% to Kentucky 29% keep your fingers crossed guys, maybe Zion will be the latest of the mega studs to come follow Wiggs, & Jackson would be great. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Just some more information tidbits. Really funny UK board starting to panic some now about Williamson, and of course coming out with the shots: - - - Why ANYONE would choose KU over UK, and then you have this - - -poster says if Williamson chooses to come to KU over UK he needs his head examined, and another poster responded - more like check mama’s bank account instead of his head. Of course saying we will be fine talking about there is other players Cal wants more or their are better, you gotta love it. - -Paranoia starting to sit in.

Also mentioned this made me have to go check and yes turned out they were right, and yes I like all others know or most should know, but anyways Quickley has cut his list to three Schools Kentucky - - -KU - - & Miami. - -again I’m not that naïve but just throwing this out for conversation IF - -IF - -IF Quickley chose KU and there has also been a lot of talk about Williamson and Quickly wanting to play together, but IF he chose , we all know that NO way all three end up here Quickley - - Grimes - - Dotson, so question is would we rather take Grimes/Dotson dual and Quickley not commit here? I say YES I will take the combo of Grimes?Dotson and then - -I feel we have as good of shot landing Williamson with Dotson as we would with Quickley and Williamson which is probably happening anyways Quickley goes to Kentucky, I’ll take my chances with Dotson pulling Williamson, although Quickley was seen wearing an Adidas shirt.

  • Boy just full of it today guys. read about McCormack’s visit to KU: - he said It’s a great environment , and that he really enjoyed myself there, KU told him that KU was probably going to be losing their top 6 players , saying Preston would be gone, Graham would be gone, McCormack said he hadn’t set any officials yet and doesn’t know how many he was going to take.

He said even though he hadn’t set up any visits that there is a lot about KU that appeals to him. " History " - -McCormack said it’s literally the history of Basketball, with James Naismith the creator of Basketball, that KU has had the 1st great Basketball coach at Ku.

Saying KU has a legendary program, KU has done well at developing players at his position, KU is a winning program, Getting to play Allen Fieldhouse, and KU winning 13 straight Big 12 titles that produces pro’s.

McCormack says that KU - - Duke - -Xavier - -G’Town - -UCLA - -NC State - -Georgia Tech - -& Texas are the schools recruiting him the hardest.

Asked what he was looking for in a School he said he relationship with the Coach, Being able to play through mistakes, and being able to develop his game, He says conditioning and Development is important as well as his major, he wants to major in Communications or Journalism, he wants to go into sports broadcasting.

He said History also plays into it as far as the Coach being a good Coach and how the School develops players. Guys the more I’m starting to see, I think this could shape up to be a pretty good year for us if things play out right. - -Sounds like this kid is pretty smart kid, knows his stuff, knows what he wants. - Sounds like he is really interested. He says he has no timetable for his commitment but does want to cut his list, hoping to do so soon. I think our chances may be better then some think - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • 2018 Big Silvio de Sousa is on a visit to KU now. Haven’t heard KU linked with him much, though we did offer him in May. He’s going to be a really, really good college big. Huge frame and a great athlete.

  • @FarmerJayhawk Fascinating. I’ve not really seen him mentioned with KU either and he is believed to be a Maryland lean. So, he is visiting with Dotson then? That can’t be bad for KU…

  • Does Maryland have room for him if they take Moses Brown? Food for thought.

  • @FarmerJayhawk He’s got Bill Self big written all over him. 6’8 in shoes with a 6’10 wingspan. Doesn’t remind us of anyone in particular at all…

  • @BShark I’m not sure if it’s an official or not. I think they probably can take them both, but would be very un-Maryland like to get two top 30 big men. Him visiting KU before Maryland is a good sign though.

  • Seems like it’s an official visit. Also even if he doesn’t come to KU, this was great just for what it’s doing to the Maryland 247 board right now.

  • @BShark this is true. I think KU broke their fans with Josh Jackson and Billy Preston.

  • Lol @bshark poor turgeon.
