Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview

  • @mayjay Yes. Been working on some Continuing Ed thinking this all started at 530 today. Oh well!

  • Not a fan of this one. Possibly playing a perennial Final Four team in the second round, or a team that’s beat UNC, Duke, and Florida State. Then the possibility of playing ISU in KC…

  • @Blown It did start at 5:30, if you lived in the Eastern time zone.

  • UNC Gets a cakewalk into the elite 8.

  • So…Is the rule that you can play someone in your conference prior to Elite 8 if you only played them twice? I thought it was once. Surprised we might play ISU in the S16. I think I would rather see the bad match up with Purdue and their 2 big guys…ISU floods KC. Also…MSU (and Izzo)…if they get past Miami…tough 2nd round matchup.

  • Positive of facing Michigan St is at least its a team this team won’t have a problem getting up for.

I’m going to order my tickets now.

  • @MoonwalkMafia I get it, but at the end of the day, we’re a 1 seed…that means we should be able to beat all comers…and have to anyway to win a NC.

    #JustBringIt

  • @wissox but to hear the talking heads, both UNC & Duke should be 1 seeds.

  • michigan st will lose in the 1st round

  • This pretty much sums up what a lot of us have said.

Gary Parrish on our being No. 1 seed:

  • Looking at all 4 regions, I kind of wish we had fallen to a #2 seed and been shipped West, which looks to be easiest bracket overall by far. Toughest is the South, although almost all of the strength is the bottom half. UNC and Duke seem to have easy paths to the E8; no surprise there.

Midwest presents some challenges, but if we’re playing well is manageable. I don’t like the potential of ISU in the Sweet 16 game, but we both have to get there first…

  • @RockChalkinTexas of course, Gary is one that had us bumped from a 1 seed.

Perhaps that would give us more of chip?

  • I like this draw. Miami can’t score, they have one good road win against fellow offensively challenged Virginia while Virginia was cratering. Michigan St. can’t win outside of East Lansing this year. Purdue is not a great team, it took a record setting shooting performance for ISU to beat Kansas. Louisville doesn’t have a good road/neutral court win outside of Wichita St. Oregon lost their best big man. I really wouldn’t be surprised to see Michigan emerge from that half of the bracket with the way they’re playing right now.

KU really does have one of their easier draws for a path to the Final Four and I think KU has the weakest 2 and 3 seeds at this point considering injuries.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 this is a pretty tough bracket. Defense, of course, will be the key.

  • Well a girl picks us to go to the final 4

  • @HawkChamp Midwest is the 2nd easiest draw after the west and has a lot of offensively challenged teams in it.

  • Bilas was commenting on how inconsistent the NCAA is and how they arbitrarily change criteria from year to year. There is no reason KU should be playing ISU in the Sweet 16 and makes Cronin correct saying that they want to sell tickets. If KU and ISU meet in KC, no doubt it will be a sellout. Hopefully ISU used up its 3 point good luck and they don’t come out on fire; of course they need to get past Purdue.

I personally believe that Wichita State got, once again, grossly underseeded. They are #8 according to Pomeroy and 2 spots above KU and they get a #10 seed? Un-effin’ believable. Having said that, I hope Dayton, my undergrad Alma Mater, beats them like drum.

  • I hope we get the Clones in the Sweet 16. That would be a gift.

  • I’m a little bit worried about a sweet sixteen matchup with Iowa St, but Iowa St would probably have to beat Purdue in order for that to happen. And Purdue is a bad matchup for Iowa St. Purdue has a 6’10 forward who is averaging 18.5 points and 12.6 rebounds per game named Caleb Swanigan. He’s a legit NPOY candidate and Iowa State doesn’t have anyone who can match up with him. Purdue is also a pretty good rebounding team and Iowa State is not. I don’t think ISU is getting by Purdue.

  • Sometimes I wonder what the committee uses to pick the last teams in. Can’t be RPI with Illinois State 20 spots higher than KSU and USC 3 spots higher.

  • @KUSTEVE Clones are playing really well. I would not consider it a gift at all. The last time we faced them…well, sure you remember us blowing that one ?

  • I am going to the Sunday game in Tulsa. If anybody else is going, hit me up.

  • In the “the Selection Committee is officially a bunch of morons” category, how can it be that Wisconsin is an #8 seed - behind Maryland and Minnesota and on the same line with Northwestern? Finished tied for second in the conference regular season and got to the title game, which none of the other 3 did. Truly defies explanation…

  • Vegas:

    Duke 5-1

    UNC 6-1

    KU 8-1

    UK 8-1

    Nova 8-1

    Zags 10-1

  • @kjayhawks

Both play in crappy conferences. Most prediction had the PAC 12 sending only 3 teams, albeit 3 very good teams.

  • @Blown More importantly, does our team remember blowing a home game against an inferior opponent because they went through the motions the 2nd half? It’s a gift.

  • @BeddieKU23 Missouri valley is terrible

  • Seth Greenberg looks like Uncle Fester from The Addams Family…

  • @KUSTEVE they also just blew out TCU…and easily handled WVU. They have been on an uptick the last month. I would have preferred to see any of the other 5 seeds in our bracket.

  • And, at risk of going down the @jaybate-2.0 rabbit hole on East Coast bias and the whole thing is engineered is anyway, the ACC was clearly handed gift seeds and match-ups. Easy paths for UNC and Duke. Notre Dame was given the only easy 5-12 match-up. FSU as the overall 10th ranked team???

As much as I wish it were otherwise, I do think the ACC is the strongest conference, especially over the top 5 or 6 in the conference, but this is ridiculous…

  • @Blown yeah I wouldn’t want to play them. I think they can beat Purdue.

  • @Blown ISU has played well. I think Purdue will be a tough matchup with the 2 big guys…I don’t think ISU gets by them.

  • Calipari calling Bilas support of Duke out…like that.

  • @Bwag

    You mean Puke? 😂

  • Mark Few fell asleep mid-sentence

  • Is all the crying about Syracuse simply to appease the NY television market?

  • @BeddieKU23 6 BIg 12 teams, but point taken.

ISU is a head scratcher. Oh, those silly bracket makers!

It also took a record shooting performance from ISU to force OT. They won’t play that well again and KU won’t play that bad again.

  • @Bwag said:

Syracuse has one of the top journalism schools in the country and there’s a lot of non-athlete on air personalities at the major networks that graduated from there so there’s an inherent media bias with Syracuse because Syracuse produced many media members .

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 I’m starting to agree. We got the easiest 2 seed of all.

Lookint at MSt Record and see no good wins. They may not even make it past Miami.

If they make it to the Elite 8, I Like the chances of getting to the FF

  • @Blown Miami/Michigan State is going to be tough. Assuming we get out of the first weekend, Purdue/Iowa State is even tougher. I like Iowa State to win and get to the Sweet Sixteen. We do have the revenge factor, but if our defense doesnt step up, we will lose.

  • @Blown It has been a while since we beat Michigan State. The usually get away with everything against us.

  • We are the Number 1 Seed in our bracket. If we play like it and stay out of foul trouble, I like our chances. We are Kansas!!!

  • @CRH107 Oh yeah…Many whiners argued that Dook should’ve been a #1 seed since they played 2-3 games and won their conf tourney.

The conf tourneys are not meant to determine much. They definitely DO NOT determine #1 seeds. The committee did the right thing. They looked at the overall conference body of play for each of the 1 seeds and chose their #1 seeds. Dook’s overall body of play DID NOT make the cut. I’m so sick of people arguing that if a team wins 2-3 games in their conf tourneys they deserve a high seed.

BTW- Let’s hope the Deacons get in over the Purple Pussies. Manning and his Deacons deserve it more than KSuck.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 I actually think Drew and his boys could beat Dook. We are talking Drew against Rat Face.

  • @BeddieKU23 Baylor does have a tendency to disappear this time of year. Baylor’s success will depend a great deal on the other coach’s X and O ability. Drew will not fair well against a good X and O coach.

  • Does everyone forget that it took Iowa St. setting a new school record for 3 point FG’s made just to force that AFH game to OT? It took a record setting performance for ISU combined with KU playing one of their worst halves of the year to force OT. That’s not very likely to happen again.

  • @BeddieKU23 I wonder if we could’ve won our conf tourney if our overall 1 seed would’ve been cake? I doubt it. We all saw the potential seeds in the bracket for the last 2-3 wks during our overall 1 seed. It looked hellish. In fact, the argument is the South region is the strongest bracket.

Dook and UNC getting a lot of love coming from “the strongest league” in the nation. Yet, we beat UK and Dook. But many are excusing Dook’s early half of the season with all their poor unfortunate circumstances with injuries and their coach being out too. Piss on the ACC and all but 1-2 will drop out early after the first 2-3 rounds.

    South West Midwest East

  • @KansasComet Not this year for MSU. Unless Izzo can pull a Spartan rabbit out of his hat, this is not MSU’s year. JJ plays against friends if that’s the case.

ESPN has Nova and Dook in the Elite 8. Wow, what bold predictions. Gawd, I hope the boyz show up and play their game.

  • @truehawk93

4 days changed a lot of things for how people are perceiving Duke. It was impressive they won 4 games in 4 days against good teams. Our lasting impression wasn’t great which is why we are kind of not being talked about. Had we taken care of business we would have been the unquestioned #1 overall seed.
