  Another of Mother’s favorite anecdotes was her down pat excuse, “There’s many a slip, twixt the cup of the lip.” Also of honorable mention would be her Irish influenced “German salute” with the always guarded thumb to the nose gesture. Sorry for the political incorrectness, but she could be quite humorous without being (very) off color. No malice JB old friend, just jest.

  My dog hides during KU games. That’s normal, isn’t it? I’m pretty sure it’s the “squeaky shoe sounds” from the TV that bug her.

  @Hawk8086 Only if it’s the second miss of two or the front end of a 1 and 1. Missing then making leaves a point on the table. KU was 12 for 30 from the stripe. In order to have not lost any points, 9 of the 24 offensive rebounds KU had in the game would have had to have been converted after a two miss scenario. There may have been a few times that it happened, but I’m willing to bet it didn’t happen 9 times, so no, free throws very much cost KU a title.

  @DanR Or you may substitute Adams with Frank Mason. He collected a couple of those phantom hand check fouls. Wonder how much Coach Self anticipated Mason’s defensive tendencies and decided he needed Conner Frankamp as the backup, just in case Mason gets a couple quick ones and has to sit.

  @bskeet This ESPN article hits the nail on the head. It points out what I am worried about. The OAD process will turn college basketball coaching on its head. From the article: “Every season, Self’s teams have been a combination of talented youngsters, promising stars and reliable, program-sculpted veterans; every season, players from one group slowly move into the other.” But not this year, when we will hope that the freshmen class can catch on quick enough to take us all the way to the national finals.   @brooksmd-Thank you & your family for your decades of sacrifice. Yes sometimes it seems like a really small planet. How small? Two oldest of my brothers children were born in Tokyo in the late 50’s , one in Iran & one in DC in the 60’s. They’ve literally lived all over the entire world. Boy born in Tokyo is a school teacher in SC as is his wife, yet her sister lives almost within shouting distance from me in rural JoCo KS & operates a boarding kennel 1.4 miles from my farm.

  When has KU not played a strong noncon? I remember last year reading somewhere that HCBS was trying to work out a home and home with UK. It seems UK no wants no part of that.

  @wissoxfan83 Wilt Chamberlain was a true OAD. There was ONE of him and then the good Lord was DONE making any more like him. I never saw him play in person, but I have read and studied him and it always bothers me when anyone compares anyone else to Wilt. There is no comparison. They man was a true freak of nature. An incredible all-around athlete. Here is one of my favorite KU moments of all time. I still get choked up after watching it probably 25 times…

  @approxinfinity I think you got what I was trying to say. I do appreciate all the hard work that the LJW sports writers to do us fan. In the past, there were some disparaging comments about some of the writers which I thought were unfair. And I do drop by the KUSports site several time a week because they are so good. Nevertheless, the comment threads here are entertaining and often quite insightful. As a community, the posters here enrich the fan experience significantly. I just want to remind ourselves that we have something to be proud of here. So, I say thank you to all who have posted and welcome to all who just stop by to read.
