Two ranked teams play today, both Big-12 games.
Not expecting any upsets tonight as West Virginia should bounce back at home after a dreadful loss in Manhattan.
Baylor hosts Oklahoma and I would not expect OU can beat them with their 2-3 road record.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 For all the grief some here give Grimes, those quotes from him in that article sound like the light is coming on for him and that he’s realizing that he doesn’t have to listen to his dad anymore.
I know some have pointed out he’s coming off the bench now, but what those people are ignoring is that Grimes is still playing starter level minutes and is still their leading scorer.
He’ll be a 4 year player and by the time he leaves UH, he’ll have a good shot at being AAC POY his senior season.

So Chandler Lawson is starting for Oregon and averaging 18 pts per game.
-
Baylor is the new #1 team in the nation jumping Gonzaga in the polls. Also, KU has played 5 teams currently ranked in the top 15 (4 of them in the top 10) to a 2-3 record (1-3 against the top 10 teams).
Also, KU got a first place vote in the AP poll somehow as the Jayhawks moved back into the 3rd spot in the polls.
Another note about the top 25 rankings this week, Rutgers is ranked for the first time in 41 years coming in at 24/25 in the polls this week.

Do you mean 18 minutes a game?
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/chandler-lawson-1.html
Averaging 5 pts a game.
-
Newell voted them 1. He explained in his Twitter why as well.
-
@BShark - if I could read, I’d be dangerous. Thanks.
Correction: 5 pts, 4.5 rbs, little over one assist per game in 18 minutes.
-
@Gorilla72 Yeah no problem. I was just stunned by that possibility based on what he looked like in HS so I had to check.
-
@Gorilla72 don’t be dangerous!🧬
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I really hope so for his sake.

West Virginia just killing Texas 45-20 - - I don’t see how Shaka makes it another season

Ended up a 38 point drubbing, 97-59.
Baylor held serve as #1 by 4.
-
@BeddieKU23 Went to bed at halftime and figured Baylor had the game locked up. I see that Butler had 4 pts and was 0-6 from 3. Baylor was 6-26 from 3. But look what they did against us. I guess you could say that this game was an outlier for Butler and the team.
-
Great teams win on bad shooting nights.
-
Chandler Lawson also has not attempted a 3 in 19 games. Obviously he would not have been the outside-range solution to our 4 problem!
-
Maybe some pressure being #1. Baylor has had some C type games and found ways to win (sort of like KU has). I thought the two games before they drubbed KU weren’t that good. A team that can kind of turn it on when they need to.
-
@BeddieKU23 did u see the end of Baylor game? Ou had a steal w/chance to tie, instead they pitch it out to reaves for a 3. Game
-
@dylans Very true.

Yup, I believe he had a chance for an easy layup. Decision Making fail 101
-
Reaves, 2-11 from 3, they had time and 2 on 1. Lon coached ball
-
Another poster from another site posted this , and makes pretty good sense. - - KU loses ONE game and drops five spots. - - Duke loses TWICE in the same week and stays in the top ten. – Something smells lol. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Lost in the Sauce from last night was TCU getting a 11pt win at home over Texas Tech. Tech is now 3-3, TCU is 4-2.
Iowa St got a win over Oklahoma St by 7 at home. ISU is 2-4, OSU 0-6. Setting up their Super bowl on Monday.
-
@BeddieKU23 Looks like Boynton might be losing the cage match.
TCU
Tech being 3-3 I love to see after everyone was on Beard’s junk.
-
Well looks like UNC finally has found someone to beat up on other then getting beat up. – UNC hadn’t won a single game in this Calendar Year until today
-
WVU starting the second half on a 16-2 run and now up 15 on Mizzou.
-
Misery getting stomped now. 56-33 with 8:10 left. Lid on their basket…
-
Did this game show how bad Mizzou is, or how much improved WV is?
-
How bad Mizzou is! I’m going to add, since I just saw game day, how bad Seth is (Kentucky reference). Smart a$$ or deaf? You had to watch or you won’t get it. Someone needs to lock him in a restroom next time!

probably both
-
ok, so little confused. - You can’t even sell your arena during regular season , so why in the hell do you move your SEC challenge game to even a BIGGER court. - Oklahoma playing their game in Oklahoma City. you would think you would want to play this game on their home floor
-
WVU arena had lost of fans dressed as numbered seats.
-
Shaka’s offense - - -1st player down the court - - jack a 3
-
Give Texas a little bit of credit they were dead and came back now up
-
Skylar Mays has some Marcus Smart faking in him
-
Moretti 90% cant make free throws
-
Yep his missed free throw could cost them
-
Tech is terrible
-
Florida is worse then Tech that’s no tournament team
-
@BeddieKU23 They certainly executed poorly down the stretch…Regulation and OT.
-
I’m telling you guys - - Baylor is LEGIT I’m not to proud to admit that , it’s ok they representing the big 12 - -hell ya
-
@BeddieKU23 replace Self with Beard etc
-
@BShark self > beard
-
@rockchalkwyo my stance is that Beard needs to prove it long term.
-
ok go ahead and STILL not give Baylor any love. - I’m telling you this team is a solid legit Championship contender. - -love their defense - -got really good guard play. - -Tied for best start in School history, yet I’m still sure there is gonna be people, who no way want to give Baylor any props. - -It’s ok to admit that yes there are OTHER teams that do have really good teams – Baylor is one of those teams
-
@jayballer73 Yeah. I had the same thought as I watched them totally dismantle Florida.
I suspect some of the skepticism on the board is that the coach this year is the same one as in previous years. Therefore results are expected to be the same.
-
@bskeet Agree. In the past, Baylor has had teams that could beat anyone (and they often did) but could always lose to anyone (and they always did). This team seems different. I’m with @jayballer73 . Great defensively and they can shoot. Right now they are better than us.
-
I thought the Big 12 showed pretty well. KSU and UT with comebacks that fell a little short. Of course, they weren’t impressive to fall behind like that. OU and OSU winning were a little surprising to me.
-
Also,…did anyone catch the crude gesture by the Florida drummer? It was quick but noticeable. When they were showing the guitar player. All I could think of was…man if that were my kid…I must be old.
-
I like beard, his players just crapped the bed big time.
I have no idea who could replace Bill and I rarely chime in when this comes up every month it seems now. I know who I don’t want and that list is way longer then those who I think could

Tech isn’t terrible, they’re inexperienced and haven’t learned how to finish close games yet. They really only have 1 bad loss on the season to DePaul, all the rest are reasonable losses. I think I heard during their game yesterday that they have 9 new players on the roster this season. To have that many new faces at a program like Tech and to be ranked for most of the season is a good accomplishment. With the inconsistency of most programs this year, if they could pick up a win over WVU on Monday and/or KU in either match up, get to 10-8 in league play, and reach the B12 semis, Tech will be back in the NCAA tournament. I don’t think a lot of people realize just how difficult that job is. Lubbock is in the middle of nowhere which hurts recruiting efforts, and they’re usually the afterthought program of the major conference Texas schools.
Beard is doing a very good job with that program and if he stays long term (that’s going to be the biggest hurdle for Tech), he’ll have them as a consistent challenger to KU.
