Here is a thought - -we have heard here and there about moss on some – off some - - so Question - - Maybe Moss felt a little more pressure to /score at Iowa - -little less effective - -maybe playing with other outside flexible talented guys - -maybe more at ease and NOT as much pressure - -could be huge help
-
Too old to remember how Frank was as a leader when he was a soph. Do believe that Devon will get there once all of these guys get more comfortable playing together. It’s easy to get down on them when we expect so much. They all want to do well and perhaps are trying too hard at times.

Dotson is pretty easily ahead of Mason’s trajectory at this point. The issue is we probably don’t get to see him as a JR. Mason became very good his JR year and then obviously a superstar as a SR.
-
True. I do think he needs to be more of a true floor leader before finding success at the next level.

Doing what??

@COHawk I don’t think he will stick in the NBA but it sure seems like the plan is for him to try after this year anyway. It would be incredible if he stayed though.
-
Frank needs to talk with him
-
Or Devonte.
-
In today’s world of instant gratification, it still is amazing that both of those guys came back for the final year.
-
Not to change the subject, but Baylor just blew a 15-point second half lead to lose to a good but young Washington team.
So much for that top-25 ranking. Still, it’s a long season.
-
@nwhawkfan saw that, big 12 looking down this year so far.
-
@kjayhawks Normally I’d root for UW since they’re the local favorites here, but the Baylor loss could well affect KU’s power rankings.
-
@BShark That’s probably our best 5, at least against most teams, and it looks like Enaruna will get the bulk of the perimeter sub minutes. Therein lies a problem. 2 games in and it looks like HCBS has already settled on his 6-1/2 man rotation. So much for depth…
I noted right after the Duke game that both Garrett and Dotson had played 38 minutes, and that wasn’t sustainable over the course of the season. Then HCBS said the same thing in one of his pressers. But that’s what happened again last night. Unless we’re playing a cupcake, does anyone see that changing?
Right now, it looks like Dotson, Ochai, and Garrett will get 36+ minutes a game, Moss around 30 and Doke around 28 (barring foul trouble). Dave and Silvio will combine for just 15-18, and Enaruna will get almost all of the available perimeter minutes, unless Braun really picks it up.
Anyone see anything different???
-
@DCHawker I could see Braun getting more minutes, eventually.
-
Just read some post game quotes and Self said he will continue to start two bigs. I still think / hope the 4 guard lineup will be what we see the majority of the time.
-
-
Need another guard to show up for depth if the 4-1 is going to be played much. Too bad McBride wasn’t up to snuff. Did Harris redshirt?
-
@dylans I agree. Braun needs to drastically improve for him to garner any minutes. Seemed like Self was high on him before the season and he’s done absolutely nothing.

Harris is on the Jamari/Ben plan. Otherwise I think we could use him some.
The rumors floating around about McBride are not good. Sounds like he just simply quit. Not even sure if he will continue to play basketball or not.

that’s what I couldn’t figure out – only on the court for 27 seconds - -just a plain simple cut when running through a set

PER after game 2 saw much better results.
Dotson rebounded from Game 1 with a 12 pt increase from 8 to 20.5
Enaruna jumped 13.3 to 19.7
Agbaji holding steady at 15.4
Azubuike almost doubled to 15.4 (still well below his average)
Garrett marginally improved to 12.8 (from 12.4) & still around career avg.
McCormack slightly up to 9.9
Moss debuts with a 9.9 (below average for him) but still not 100% so we’ll see where he goes from here.
De Sousa crated.
Braun is negative after 2 games.
-
@BeddieKU23 Hopefully Doke comes along. If Garrett hovers around 13 he is definitely worth playing imo.
Moss was definitely laboring out there, could barely move.
-
I think it will improve for Doke, it can’t get any worse for the 3 bigs right now. Optimism there I guess.
If Garrett can hit at least 35% from 3 on the shots he’s taking from 3, absolutely. His FT shooting is still horrendous
-
@BeddieKU23 his shot is still pretty mechanical but if it can at least to in when he is open that changes a lot.
UNCG is at least a pretty good team. PER numbers will probably be bloated against Monmouth.
If Moss is still hobbling we should play him as little as possible.
-
@BShark he’s probably afraid to trust that hammy too.
