Did not end up working out for the Hawks.

Really starting to feel like good news could be on its way…
-
If he is turning down private workouts for NBA teams he either feels very very good about his appeal or is not very smart. He seems like a pretty bright kid so…
-
@Woodrow but then there’s his guardian? Or manager or handler

I’m sure that he has an agent advising him through this process and Fenny isn’t the one calling the shots.
-
Good stuff!
-
Part of the new agent rule is you can’t miss class to go to a team workout. Maybe he had class?
-
I think I leave this tea leaf remaining in the pot. So many things could change his NBA workout plans, including the team moving in a different direction.
-
I mean, if it was scheduled, I’d think they would have all of that figured out. Or he would have done his workout today or tomorrow instead.
-
Maybe we will hear something today…
Ha.

Just so you know I was crestfallen until I read the article. Good news, not the Jayhawks, the Atlanta Hawks!

This now becomes the Million dollar Question. - -Silvio has till the 29th of May to withdraw his name from the NBA Draft. - The Timer has officially began to tick - - So let’s look and trying to justify things:
He turned down the G league invite - - -He didn’t do his one workout/tryout of I thing the Hawks? right? - - He didn’t get invited to the NBA Combine - - -Sooo the question is – Will he pull his name out before the May 29th deadline - - - -OR will he stay in? - - holler at me what ya think - - speak up - - let your voice be heard. - - ROC CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Silvio DID work out for the Jazz yesterday.

I understand buddy - hard to guess - -Hope nothing but the best for our boy
-
Well , Dam . - -These idiots that are suppose to making the decision on Silvio’s appeal sure are not making things easy for Silvio.
I mean come on , these trials with the FBI thing is over, - these guys have had the information they need - and probably for some time now , have heard from numerous sites - read articles that this thing shouldn’t take that long , so what the hell is the holdup? - -Is it they just screwing things because he is a kid that plays for KU - -seems like these guys have a hardon for KU
They making it really hard on De Sousa - - -he only has until the 29th to withdraw from the NBA draft - -and I think Silvio REALLY wants to play at least this coming season at KU - and these guys are going to force his decision , if this goes past the 29th - then REALLY I don’t see any other choice for Silvio but to STAY in the draft.
We can’t blame him if that is what it comes too. - -Hell these dip sticks could screw with his appeal for half the season and in the end run still dent his appeal. - For the kids sake just make a ruling for Christs sakes - - good or bad for him - -just get it over with and let this guy get on with his life with some finality - I mean JUMPIN - - GEE - - HOSSA - - FATS. - you know - - -we know - - -I know - -you got everything right there in front of you to make this ruling , get of your as and just make it already. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

When Silvio made his ultimatum it let the NCAA off the hook. Do nothing and he goes away. There likely needs to be a lawsuit to make them pay attention. The flip side is maybe they have ruled against Silvio, but are granting KU/Silvio more time to plead their case. It doesn’t look good for Silvio at this time imho.
-
@dylans I suspect you are correct … it seems that the ruling has been made, and it was negative, just not made public knowledge yet. If it was positive, we’d know.
-
This is the first I saw this. I apologize if someone posted this earlier.

Ya Probably
-
Maybe, glass half full person, he’s been cleared and they are sitting on it too?
-
I don’t think they’d be sitting on it one way or the other. I don’t see how that benefits anyone.
-
Agree with you here. Him being eligible would be positive news for the program and recruiting to build around him. Can’t see how sitting on that helps anyone
-
@jayballer73 They should be sued for idiocy. Just make a freaking decision already!

ya that’s my point too. - -I mean come on - one way or another

They already made a decision once, we just didn’t like it so told them to make a decision again… AND THINK REAL HARD THIS TIME. Now do it faster! Lol, fans!
-
I wonder, can the school release the decision on SDS without SDS’s consent? I don’t know … but it would seem on its face to be similar to academic info.
-
@approxinfinity The same people aren’t making this decision though. The appeals committee is a different group of people and I don’t believe they’re employed by the NCAA.

@approxinfinity Following your line they should thus have a quick decision. Bureaucracy, lol!!

http://www2.kusports.com/news/2019/may/19/jeff-long-ncaa-needed-more-information-ku-after-in/
Jeff Long states the NCAA needed more info after the initial appeal. That seems to be the hold up. Either that or it was a NO and they are just appealing again? Who knows. We should know by 2026
-
Lol
-
If true, maybe it’s good … because when more info is requested, then the fact finder may need confirmation on an item we asserted, that may be helpful. Asking might indicate it might help; or maybe it’s bad, because we may have asserted something that they did not think was verifiable, and asked that it be verified. Meaning to confirm we were full of it.
Or, the cow jumped over the moon.
-
@HighEliteMajor my question is, when did they ask for it and when did we send it? So vague. Why hasn’t this been told to us before now? None of our business, maybe!
-
We’ll get a decision May 30th, the day after the last day of declaration of staying/returning.

My understanding is they feel good enough about their chances that they don’t want this played out in the press
-
@Kcmatt7 Yeah, the agent is called a lawyer to protect his interests. Doesn’t appear the NCAA wants to protect a student athlete. This kid WANTS to play and continue his NCAA education. The NCAA should be helping, not discouraging him.
-
Whatever, AND we hurry and WAIT
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I think what @FarmerJayhawk said makes some sense. But the “state secret” nature of all of this makes me think it is just a student privacy matter.
@truehawk93 Nothing is stopping him from continuing his education. So that’s a non-issue. He went to school this past year. It’s that playing thing that is problematic when you (or your agent) takes money and breaks the rules. The drama voiced on behalf of SDS is just tiring to me (I don’t tire easily). You said “The NCAA should be helping, not discouraging him” – if there are not rules, i.e., CHEATING, then there is no CBB as we know it. And a lot of kids “WANT” to play CBB and can’t because they don’t have the natural talent. The unfairness of it is overwhelming.
That all said, I think we all agree that it is not unreasonable for the suspension to just be the one season. But I have the unfortunate opinion that banning him two seasons is not unreasonable either, when you take big sums of money. I won’t be offended either way.
Ah, but that FF banner coming down and sitting out the tourney may be the next shoe to drop on the SDS affair. Unfair?
-
Could it be the ncaa gave an ultimatum…well give you sds next year but you take down the final four banner and give up all wins and return your 14th rings…or keep the banner and the rings and the accolades and sds stays out per our original ruling.
-
@bmensch1 I don’t think you get choices.
-
I didn’t think anyone could get suspended for 2 years either. When it comes to the ncaa, I have to take myself out of logical thinking and just throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks.

If this was Duke or UNC we all would say “feed them to the lions.” Now do I say that because I hate those schools or that I like KU?
-
@KUSTEVE My gosh I did not think of that but you are so spot on. They will tell him May 30 he is eligible after he is ineligible. Then there will have to be anothe appeal…aaaargghghhrrhhrhr!
-
@rockchalkwyo Seems to me that logic is usually inconvenient in such circumstances. Unfortunately, logic weighs against us a bit here I think.
-
SDS, we hardly knew ye. Good luck in your future endeavors.
