2019 Recruiting
-
I see the Phog is having a meltdown over 0 current commitments. BlessUp for being better, bucketeers.
-
R.J. Hampton will be visiting KU for late night. He will also be going to Memphis and Kentucky.
-
@JayHawkFanToo I have him in the list thread already. Not sure KU has much of a shot anymore but you never know.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 From what others have been saying, sure seems it. If Dedric plays like we think, I think it will do wonders. They are certainly not afraid to talk, and this would be one of the few times that isn’t a bad thing lol.
-
I see where UK has made their mark ON Nnaji - - -Meyer - – Slater and some other guy picking him now as a UK commit, - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Well if UK is serious they will probably get him. He isn’t a top priority for KU.
-
Looks like Minnesota out of the Matthew Hurt race. Not that they were considered a likely landing spot but with his brother on the team you never know. Minnesota grabbed Top 100 Power Forward Trace Jackson.
-
Update on a prospect KU has kept in contact with. Kai Jones has visited Florida St and now will visit Syracuse. I’m told from my Brewster friend that Cuse could seal the deal here
-
Loving the Duke board’s meltdown over recruiting. With Isiah Stewart looking wide open in his recruitment or trending away from Duke that is one entitled salty bunch over there! The loss of Capel is sinking in, for now. I know it won’t last but its fun to see them freaking out
-
TCU grabbed a couple of 4 star perimeter players over the weekend. Dixon continues to recruit at a high level. So far the Big-12 really hasn’t done much in 2019 recruiting
-
I’ve got a friend at work who is an Iowa State fan. He’s optimistic they won’t be the bottom feeder this year and thinks they can win twice against Texas. I don’t share his optimism.
-
@approxinfinity My bold prediction: Texas Tech tumbling all the way to the bottom.
Another one: Texas finishes in the top half this season.

I don’t know if they will sweep Texas but I do like their roster.

They should be better, a couple of key transfers eligible. Wigginton & Lard are 1st team Big-12 candidates. Their starting 5 is better then OU, OSU, Tech & Baylor. Should be interesting to see what Prohm does with talent

Agree. Might even be a better starting 5 than TCU as well. They have a couple guys (THT, Zion G*) that I’d take for KU in a second. Add a couple RS SRs and an NBA guard (Wigginton) and they should be pretty salty.
*Not sure how much he plays this year with their roster situation but I think he is really good and was hoping KU would get him.
Their front court is pretty good, as a whole I would take it over KSU’s front court.
-
Wow re: TT to bottom. And thanks for the insights on Iowa States roster. I look forward to them being competitive. I’ve always liked their vibe, one ahole booster aside.
-
Chicago hoops politics hurt THT’s ranking imo, should be a 5*.

No Texas Tech isn’t going to be al the way the bottom - - -I think the bottom third of the league is going to be a crap shoot
-
@Kcmatt7 Well it’s definitely bold. I assume you have looked at the rosters for the Oklahoma schools?
Kruger had two take 2 grad transfer guards from 16 seed type schools.

KUSTEVE said:
1- KU
2- Silo Tech 3-TCU 4-TT 5-Hillbillies 6-Clones 7-Okie St 8-Faylor 9-Shorthorns 10-OU
I could be all wrong, but as long as I get the first one right, it doesn’t make a bit of difference to me.
Texas has a roster this year that Self could easily take to a FF. Of course Shaka is not Self…
-
@BShark Oh the OU schools could absolutely blow. But I really think we saw how bad TTU was without Evans. I mean TTU has no PG.
That’s why this is bold lol.
I’m definitely higher on UT than I have been. They have a PG, get Jones back and should be able to score the ball a little bit.
-
I don’t trust Smart to make them a good offensive team. Just look what he couldn’t do with Allen and Bamba. The Coleman/Long/Roach backcourt could be salty though. I thought Sims flashed as well. They still have Slow O (Osetkowski) in the post
-
Villanova has offered Matt Hurt.
Also Self met with big man Zeke Nnaji for 2.5 hours on Sunday night according to Zags.
-
Looks like Nnaji wants to decide by December as well. Lots of interest in him, will be interesting to see if KU gets one of his officials
-
Wow Nico Mannion cut Duke & Villanova. Down to Arizona and Marquette…
-
Didn’t see JRE’s visit schedule listed…
1st up was Notre Dame last weekend
Villanova (Sept. 14), North Carolina (Sept. 21), Kansas (Sept. 28), and Arizona (Oct. 12). I thought KU was going to be the last visit. Looks like the squid gets the last pitch, ugh
-
Looks like Cole Anthony has set two officials. Notre Dame and Unc this month.
-

Just curious , what was Braun before ? - -he wasn’t ranked at all was he?
-
He wasn’t. Looks like he got ranked off those strong July performances and the offer sheet exploding

I wonder who said McBride was going to end up in the top 100? Still not quite there yet, but there is time.
A bit surprised by Braun, though he does have okay athleticism.
Markese Jacobs is now #125, down 33 spots.
Big jumps for Walker and Jones.
-
At this point I would expect McBride ends up in the Top 100 especially if he signs with KU… SOP for recruiting services LOL.
If Braun is the shooter he looks on video I can see why he’s that high. at 6’6 he won’t be over-matched.

You aren’t wrong about that. I do think he is legitimately good though and was underranked big time because of his previous AAU situation that I mentioned before (insanely stacked team). I believe he would be a great fit to continue the 4 year developmental guard thing KU has been great at.
-
@BShark WOW - -Jacobs sure went in the tank - -he had to have leveled off and things starting to show up quite possibly
-
-
He looks huge.
-
Crazy big. KU was in for Precious today too. Definitely casting a wide net at this stage.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Really. I thought that shipped had sailed.

Well, he isn’t coming to KU.
-
@BShark barring a spot coming open if Hurt decides early for not-KU

From what I’ve seen I agree. That’s the good part about services doing periodic updates, they can evaluate and assess players they might have missed or ones that play really well at certain events and carry that momentum forward. McBride looks like a player that would work his tail off here, I think he’d be a quality addition especially for future years. I hope we land him. I trust the staff’s evaluation of him, they certainly have earned that after years of finding players like this.

Achiuwa is one of my favorite’s in the class. His best basketball is ahead of him and his ranking could actually be underselling how good he’s going to be down the road. Long-term I think he’s a top 5 player in this class. He has the size and physicality that fits the new era of the NBA.
At KU he could play multiple positions on both sides which is scary at his size. He’s very good around the rim. He can make perimeter shots. I hope he doesn’t land somewhere KU has to play him. I’m not expecting he leaves the east…

He is freakishly good.
Kai Jones is too, I just fear KU got involved too late there…
-
Not only that I think Jones wants to land somewhere he can start as a freshman. The two visits he’s scheduled (FSU, Cuse) have that path for him. FSU pushed for a commitment from him because they need bigs. My friend says Cuse is giving him a similar pitch. KU is in this, its just going to be a matter of how the pieces fall on the board when he’s ready to decide. I hope we get him on campus I do see this one as a wildcard if they do
-
-
UNC gets Josh Green for an official visit same weekend as JRE… They are friends and this isn’t coicidence
-
Oh man I would love to land Wiseman just for the delicious tears of UK fans. And them claiming that Cal “must have quit recruiting him. Dollar Bill and Adidas pay off another one.”
-

Interesting. I wouldn’t hate landing Jones and missing one of Hurt or JRE one bit.

KU going to see Cassius Stanley. They’re really a player here.

I really doubt it.
