2019 Recruiting

  • I understand that Wiseman is likely headed to Memphis or UK, but if he wants to come and visit and have a in-home with Self it can’t hurt. Don’t see any downside to it at all. You just never know in recruiting!

Your exactly right - -you just never know - EXCEPT - -in the case of Wiseman not coming here lol. - - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • The lack of Williamson updates has me thinking Commit W?

A Few people are saying with NOTHING being reported/said - that maybe it didn’t go as well as we thought it might – I don’t buy it. - I think if anything he still wants to take all his visits - can’t blame him for that. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Any time a players is mentioned as a lock somewhere I always think of Deandre Ayton who according to the crystal ball prediction was 100% for KU…well…until he wasn’t.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Well I mean we all know what happened there now lol.

  • @BShark Your post was number 1111. I think mine is 10000.

  • And then there was Wiggins…

  • KU will visit Trendon Watford, #22 ranked player, 6’9 PF from Alabama.

Memphis, Alabama, FSU, Indiana among others in this. First time I’ve seen KU making an effort

  • @BeddieKU23 So ok , here we go. My biggest and only question here is - - -WHY? especially at this point and time? - I’m sorry I just don’t get it. - I know , I know - - people say not to make anything out of things like this , that’s great BUT I’m telling you this kind of thing makes me really wonder if the Coaching staff has gotten a feel or some kind of info that we have possibly lost ground or even lost our other targets of Earle and or Hurt.

I mean this is 4 - - - – 4 players at the same position now that they are listed - - all are listed as power forwards. If I were a player at that position it would make me wonder if I were their # 1 target as they so often tell these kids - WHY are they recruiting so many other’s at my same position?

I get it that you have to have more then one option - - I get that. Two - -hell even remotely Three - - - BUT Four? - -na that just doesn’t make much sense to me - -especially at this stage of the game - -UNLESS the staff knows something that has been leaked. With this kid, looking at who else that is in on him & checking 247 - -looks to me that it is going to be pretty hard to pull him away from home anyways - especially when your coming in late. - -Just my personal take that’s all - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @BeddieKU23 we at least offered him last October. So maybe we have been on him more behind the scenes.

Kind of feels like we are trying to steal that Memphis squad away from Penny lol. Watch us land Hurt, Wiseman, Lawson and Watford somehow. If we see a DJ Jeffries visit, we KNOW something is going on lol.

  • @jayballer73

We are visiting his school, its not a in-home as far as I can see.

I’m not going to speculate into this. Self does this every year.

  • @Kcmatt7

This is the first time I’ve seen KU involved honestly. Most of the info I’ve seen on him involves Alabama, Memphis, Indiana.

I would be surprised if Watford picked a school outside of those 4 considering they have spent considerable time recruiting him since AAU.

Alabama was the first school to recruit him, not a surprise given he’s a bama native. Watford’s brother played at Indiana. Memphis under the new regime has put themselves right there and may even lead for him. FSU & LSU (he’s unofficially visited) are looking for official visits.

  • About 13 programs including KU will be in to watch Lester Quinones, Top 100 guard.

  • @BeddieKU23 Oh I’d be shocked if we landed Watford. But Bill has had the strategy of casting a wide net and letting the chips fall where they may.

  • @Kcmatt7 That’s what I was thinking…if Watford (or someone similar) commits…you take the bird in the hand.

  • Well heard the podcast yesterday. I guess I’m not only losing my mind BUT - - -also losing my eye sight. These guys all they could do is gush all over themselves about Braum.

Things like Good shooter off the Catch - - - Dribble - or off Screen. Says he just shoots the hell out of the ball. - The one game where he scored 31 recently didn’t miss a shot - -they said it would be different if he shot nothing but three’s but he made all kinds of various shots.

Said the kid is definitely not afraid of the weight room - -boy face but put together I guess. Loves going to the rim - doesn’t matter if you block the shot or not going to keep attacking - -and if you foul him - -automatic two. Dad was a walk on I guess in the early 90’s - - -I guess I’m looking at wrong things. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Hurt going to be busy this weekend. Kentucky - - - Duke - - -& KU coming in for in home visits I think they said on Sunday plus N Carolina and someone else coming later - -I think this may end up quite a battle - -still think KU & UNC. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @Kcmatt7 think the Lawson brothers are helping us? I do

Minnesota is stopping by to see him and Villanova

    lol

Pretty nice player. Recruitment appears to be open too.

  • I see the Phog is having a meltdown over 0 current commitments. BlessUp for being better, bucketeers.

  • R.J. Hampton will be visiting KU for late night. He will also be going to Memphis and Kentucky.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I have him in the list thread already. Not sure KU has much of a shot anymore but you never know.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 From what others have been saying, sure seems it. If Dedric plays like we think, I think it will do wonders. They are certainly not afraid to talk, and this would be one of the few times that isn’t a bad thing lol.

  • I see where UK has made their mark ON Nnaji - - -Meyer - – Slater and some other guy picking him now as a UK commit, - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • jayballer73 said:

Well if UK is serious they will probably get him. He isn’t a top priority for KU.

  • Looks like Minnesota out of the Matthew Hurt race. Not that they were considered a likely landing spot but with his brother on the team you never know. Minnesota grabbed Top 100 Power Forward Trace Jackson.

  • Update on a prospect KU has kept in contact with. Kai Jones has visited Florida St and now will visit Syracuse. I’m told from my Brewster friend that Cuse could seal the deal here

  • Loving the Duke board’s meltdown over recruiting. With Isiah Stewart looking wide open in his recruitment or trending away from Duke that is one entitled salty bunch over there! The loss of Capel is sinking in, for now. I know it won’t last but its fun to see them freaking out

  • TCU grabbed a couple of 4 star perimeter players over the weekend. Dixon continues to recruit at a high level. So far the Big-12 really hasn’t done much in 2019 recruiting

  • I’ve got a friend at work who is an Iowa State fan. He’s optimistic they won’t be the bottom feeder this year and thinks they can win twice against Texas. I don’t share his optimism.

  • @approxinfinity My bold prediction: Texas Tech tumbling all the way to the bottom.

Another one: Texas finishes in the top half this season.

I don’t know if they will sweep Texas but I do like their roster.

They should be better, a couple of key transfers eligible. Wigginton & Lard are 1st team Big-12 candidates. Their starting 5 is better then OU, OSU, Tech & Baylor. Should be interesting to see what Prohm does with talent

Agree. Might even be a better starting 5 than TCU as well. They have a couple guys (THT, Zion G*) that I’d take for KU in a second. Add a couple RS SRs and an NBA guard (Wigginton) and they should be pretty salty.

*Not sure how much he plays this year with their roster situation but I think he is really good and was hoping KU would get him.

Their front court is pretty good, as a whole I would take it over KSU’s front court.

  • Wow re: TT to bottom. And thanks for the insights on Iowa States roster. I look forward to them being competitive. I’ve always liked their vibe, one ahole booster aside.

  • Chicago hoops politics hurt THT’s ranking imo, should be a 5*.

No Texas Tech isn’t going to be al the way the bottom - - -I think the bottom third of the league is going to be a crap shoot

  • @Kcmatt7 Well it’s definitely bold. I assume you have looked at the rosters for the Oklahoma schools?

Kruger had two take 2 grad transfer guards from 16 seed type schools.

  • KUSTEVE said:

    1- KU

    2- Silo Tech 3-TCU 4-TT 5-Hillbillies 6-Clones 7-Okie St 8-Faylor 9-Shorthorns 10-OU

I could be all wrong, but as long as I get the first one right, it doesn’t make a bit of difference to me.

Texas has a roster this year that Self could easily take to a FF. Of course Shaka is not Self…

  • @BShark Oh the OU schools could absolutely blow. But I really think we saw how bad TTU was without Evans. I mean TTU has no PG.

That’s why this is bold lol.

I’m definitely higher on UT than I have been. They have a PG, get Jones back and should be able to score the ball a little bit.

  • @Kcmatt7

I don’t trust Smart to make them a good offensive team. Just look what he couldn’t do with Allen and Bamba. The Coleman/Long/Roach backcourt could be salty though. I thought Sims flashed as well. They still have Slow O (Osetkowski) in the post

  • Villanova has offered Matt Hurt.

Also Self met with big man Zeke Nnaji for 2.5 hours on Sunday night according to Zags.

  • @Woodrow

Looks like Nnaji wants to decide by December as well. Lots of interest in him, will be interesting to see if KU gets one of his officials

  • Wow Nico Mannion cut Duke & Villanova. Down to Arizona and Marquette…

  • Didn’t see JRE’s visit schedule listed…

1st up was Notre Dame last weekend

Villanova (Sept. 14), North Carolina (Sept. 21), Kansas (Sept. 28), and Arizona (Oct. 12). I thought KU was going to be the last visit. Looks like the squid gets the last pitch, ugh

  • Looks like Cole Anthony has set two officials. Notre Dame and Unc this month.

  • Rivals had an update to 2019 rankings.

    Primary Targets

    Hurt#6, JRE #10, Williamson #34, McBride #110 (HUGE jump)

    Others Targets

    Wiseman #2, Anthony, #3, Achiuwa #8, Green #11, Watford #16, Cockburn #30, Stanley #33, Nnaji #37, Quinones #46, Walker #77, Jones #79, Lawson #88, Braun #113
