Pro Jayhawk updates
-
Haven’t paid much attention to Josh Jackson’s rookie year but it looks like he’s starting to turn the corner for the Suns.
Averaging 14.5 points in January which is 4 to 6 points better then any other month so far. He’s had four 20 point efforts in the past few weeks. The Suns are no good but its nice to see they are finally letting their first round pick play more and impact the game. Seems like he’s starting to respond
-
Selden started last night and had 24, 6 3’s… doing well lately
-
Embiid and Selden also had great outings with Selden leading all scorers. Marcus also had a good game but had a nasty fall after a dunk and had to leave the game. A good night for a Jayhawk players.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Selden’s usage in a tournament I’m playing on Draft Kings is 41% tonight. That means the cats out of the bag. I’ve been using him and Markieff the last few days and have been doing real well.
-
Selden’s last year version is one of my favorite Jayhawks. That was a great season that ended prematurely. I’m glad to see he’s playing well.
-
Jackson has scored 20+ in 4 straight games for the Suns. His shooting numbers are still really bad but its nice to see him finally adjusting the game and contributing
-
@wissox Selden was great as a junior, I still think that team was one of Self’s best that didnt get to the FF. The World University Games really jump started that year and he was awesome. I still remember the goofy commentators “Selden smooth as creamy peanut butter” lol.
-
Arthur made a rare appearance and had a decent line. Oubre still playing great and although he is coming off the bench, he is playing starter minutes; great but quiet season.
-
@BeddieKU23 Phoenix just has no idea how to utilize their roster.
Booker at PG, JJ at 2, Warren at 3. Their 3 best players are all playing out of position currently.
And instead of them drafting a PG this year, we all know they will draft Porter Jr or Jaren Jackson because they love 6’8 athletes too much.
-
@bmensch1 CooL! Nice get on the stat updates!!
-
16 and 10 for JJ for the hopeless Suns
-
Yeah the Suns are a mess. At least JJ is getting a ton of PT at this point
-
Grown man line
Embiid 27, 12 and 3 blocks in a win over the Wizards. Oubre had 10, Morris 11
-
Billy Preston
1st game: 6 minutes, 2 points, 1 rebound, 1 of 3 shooting (0-0 from the line, 0-0 from 3), -2 +/-, 3 fouls in a 94-92 winning game
2nd game: 20 minutes, 11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 of 12 shooting (3-4 from the line, 0-1 from 3), -10 +/-, 5 fouls in a 93-79 loss
-
@bmensch1 how many games left? Nobody wins!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 There are only 3 more games left. It’s weird…they play on the 9th…and then take a month off (or so) till 3/2 and then play on 3/9. weird schedule.
I tried to find out how much cash he gave up KU for…but trying to find the bottom of the barrel eurobasketball salaries is quite difficult. I merely tried to math it out and came with he’s somewhere in the $2k to $4k per month based on yearly budget for the club. Probably gets a car and an apartment too. (I hate to set myself up with that perfect softball right there for the internet trolls, but it’s typical in Europe to give that to Americans)
-
@bmensch1 That salary would be what he gave up being in limbo for. We may never know what he got for giving up KU, but it may have also included a car…
-
@bmensch1 that’s awful!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 …Awfully appropriate.

Wiggins became the 6th youngest player in NBA history to reach 6,000 points. Elpoyo threw his TV seeing that.

There is a dumpster fire level thread on this on the phog if you are interested. Elpoyo is the third member of the troll trinity along with a couple that posted in that thread.

We miss you too Travis!

I know the Suns are tanking but Josh Jackson has quietly put up 9 20 point games since January. Shooting the ball better. Good to see
-
@BeddieKU23 He’s going to be a big surprise next season. I think once he has an entire season of film and time to work on everything, he will be a different player. Not to mention, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him add 10-15 lbs of muscle in the offseason.

Had a career high last night against the Grizzlies.
29 pts 7 boards 4 assists 2 steals 2 blocks. 10-13 from the FT line.
I agree I expect to see him improve next season. The key is how much the Suns invest in actually getting better. They have zero veteran leadership and they lack a big who can give them consistent scoring. Bender and Chriss have not been the answer so far.
-
@BeddieKU23 Maybe they can pay 100 large to get a big from a local program?

That’s a good one!
I think the Suns would be thrilled to get Ayton, he’s a terrific player. They have whiffed hard drafting bigs lately. Alex Len, Bender, Chriss… Yikes Suns franchise is a mess

Andrew White III got called up to Atlanta from their G League this week. They have a small forward who has an injury. He played 19 mins with 4 pts Monday night. AW3 was not active for their game last night, however.
-
@mayjay It amazes me with AWIII’s flat footed D and general slowness that he’s done as well as he has. I really thought he would be a good player for KU during his Sr. Year, but not an NBA player. Go Andrew!
-
@mayjay @dylans Remember when it was a choice between White and Greene? Greene seemed like the right choice. It was painful when White was quasi-forced out. I would have preferred no Andrew Wiggins and just go with White, preferring the four year player thing, but that was a long and distant discussion.
-
@HighEliteMajor AWIII was my favorite player at the time. Tough guy with a great work ethic. Really disappointed when he got forced out. But, i am happy to see him succeed everywhere he has been so far.
-
The Suns and Kings are the two most dysfunctional franchises in the NBA and unfortunately several KU players have landed there which did not help their careers.
-
@Kcmatt7 I think he would have worked out really well here. A guy that if we just gave him the 3 spot, would have been an excellent player for Self.
-
@HighEliteMajor @Kcmatt7 Proof that White was forced out? We had 11 scholarship players in the season after he left. I remember hearing some stuff about his dad being the force behind the move. Admittedly he wasn’t playing much. He also went to Syracuse after Nebraska so he moved around a lot.
-
@BShark I remember at the beginning of the season it was basically an AWIII showdown with Greene. Self chose Greene. AWIII left after he lost the battle. I’d be pissed too if I worked my tail off all summer for Self to play a sh*thead like Greene more than me.
So far, I can’t fault a single decision that AWIII made. He is in the NBA right now.
-
@Kcmatt7 I’m just saying that I don’t think AWIII was told he can’t stay. UNLIKE Tharpe and Greene after their JR years.
I do think Self made a mistake picking Greene over White for minutes.
-
@BShark Yea I suppose. But Self knew what would be the cause of his actions.
Hind sight is 20/20.
-
Josh Jackson on a heck of a run since the Suns went full on tanking. 10 straight games of 15+ points. Since January 1st he’s had 10+ games of 20 or more. Needs to put some serious work into his shooting but at least he’s proving he can play at this level
-
Ive said it before that i think Josh can be a better pro than Wiggs
-
If he ever learns to shoot he’ll be a more complete player. Wiggs and JJ are not winning any games of horse
