Damn
-
What the heck does this mean? Bragg gets thrown in jail w/out evidence. Wouldn’t someone have been arrested? Self wouldn’t be playing anyone that did anything remotely involved w/this, right?
-
KU ad there too.
-
KU was playing at the Sprint Center at 6:05 so the game probably ended after 8. By the time they changed and did the presser it was probably 9:30ish, so if the team went straight back to Lawrence, it could possibly have arrived there around 10 pm. However, if the team went to eat add at least 1-2 hours so it would arrived in Lawrence close to midnight. The events in question apparently started aroun 10 PM.
I sure hope no athlete was involved; after the Bragg ordeal it would appear to be unlikely, or at least I hope it is. I will guess the building has high security with lots of video cameras and restricted access so it should not be too complicated to get the facts.
-
I thought the article said 5 of the witnesses were KU basketball players
-
I would think the probably saw something when they arrived. Note they are listed as witnesses and not suspects.
-
@JayHawkFanToo KU ad a witness too.
-
Terrible news. Gosh I’ll be pretty upset if a KU player is guilty of this. But the place houses 40 people including about 15 for BB players. We have learned with Braggs deal not to guess what has happened here, as @chriz said 5 KU BB players are witnesses to the crime. I’m a little ticked that drugs were in the building. Just made a shit night shittier.
-
Read this on Twitter
@jayhawkjac In law enforcement, court testimony, witnesses in a case are not necessarily eyewitnesses.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes very true, could be just listed as people that saw the girl enter the place.
-
Amen to that. A bad night indeed.
-
I think everyone should step back, and try not to speculate. Rumors get started easily when “maybe this happened…” scenarios are offered. Once a rumor gets legs, truth and fairness get left far behind.
-
I hate stories like this. no names, no evidence, just speculation.
-
@KUSTEVE ‘18-2, just a flesh wound’ SHOF! Signature hall of fame!!
-
sigh…didn’t take long for mccarthy hall to turn into jayhawk towers…
-
@chriz It did say that - - - 5 witnesses were from the basketball team? - - IF and let’s make perfectly clear again IF they were, you mean we had FIVE members witness this and did nothing?- - this is NOT GOOD, been a bad year negative pub for the men’s team. Hope this gets settled fast, and NO ONE of the team was involved in any way. - - Like last time we have to let the system get this straightened out - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Did not see this thread before posting in general. Whoops.

@jayballer54 read above posts

It’s all over the news today!
-
Ok some good news, nothing to do w/bb! I took off work to do a chick fil a scavenger hunt for 52 free meals. First 100 people were eligible, 90 people showed up and it was ez! It took 45 mins and just need to show up at 4 and get my free meals! Found my hidden talent- I can put an Oreo on my forehead and move it to my mouth. Thinking you might see me at AFH during halftime? And my boys thought I’d need a young person to help me!
-
I think we all need to try to settle down and let this case unfold.
If you look at what facts are available at this time, it does not point to any member of our team facing charges.
What is known at this time is police have a single suspect, who also was using drugs and alcohol. The drugs sound like pot.
That doesn’t really sound like a member of our team, and our players hang out together non-stop, so I’m pretty sure if it was a player it would be several players charged.
The part of the story that frightens fans is the interviewing of 5 of our players. That doesn’t mean they had any involvement in this alleged crime. It could easily be that they saw something because they are residence of the building, or they may even know the suspect or the girl. Notice that someone from the AD’s office has also been interviewed along with two other women.
Notice how big of news this is for our Kentucky friends… they condemn our team already just by the way they formatted their headline -
Five Kansas Basketball Players Interviewed About Alleged Rape of 16-Year Old Girl in Basketball Dorm
-
@jayballer54 Could just mean that they saw the girl there, doesn’t mean that they actually watched the rape if it happened.
-
Self suspended Bragg for something he didn’t do, if there’s anything at all there or drugs they’re sitting or gone.
-
Talk about a misleading headline…fake news is the new norm…
-
This is stupid to even say, but Evan did leave. I don’t believe it for a minute!
-
@JayHawkFanToo alternative facts?
-
Five basketball players named as witnesses in the McCarthy Hall rape investigation. Mason, Josh Jackson, Vick, Lightfoot and Tucker Vang.
-
A sixth player is named a witness in runaway case of 16 year old… Carlton Bragg.
This is from that radio guy that doesn’t like KU kk
-
This link that was on Facebook indicates that this is being investigated by the KU police and has not been forwarded to the District Attorney
-
@kjayhawks ya hadn’t really thought about that tell I read some one else said that - - maybe you, that would be a difference for sure. - -They may have seen her go into McCarthy and that’s it and not actually seen the act - -IF there was one - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
What is the general consensus right now? Do we think it was a basketball player?
I’m honestly a little worried. I originally read the stories thinking nothing of it. That it was just some other guy living in the dorms. And then the more I read the less I feel that way. No comment by the AD. They could easily just deny and get out ahead of the press on this. But they didn’t. Then there was the fact it was after finals and more likely than not the place was empty besides the basketball players. I’m not sure of the McCarthy rules, but most on campus living is closed. And it is very expensive to stay on campus over break so the only students that do that for the most part are foreign students.
It just feels like there should be a little more transparency going on with this and I have a funny feeling.
-
I’m glad KUSports disabled the comments on that article. That would have been an s-storm with some of those idiots there
-
@Kcmatt7 I hope you are wrong! Self would not play anybody if there was the slightest doubt, right?
-
Right. Bill knew the situation with Carlton and he still kept him on the sidelines until after it was official.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I would think that is the logical assumption. That is what is saving me from freaking out.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 new Bill Self quote in the story at the Star basically saying the same thing.
-
@Kcmatt7 it’s on all the news down here, of course it’s the bb dorm only. I get sooo mad! Just like the Bragg was guilty before we knew the facts!
-
@Kcmatt7 haven’t seen it!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Heard it on 810. KK is actually doing a god job with this. Very factual and not making any assumptions.
-
@Kcmatt7 a God job?
-
@Kcmatt7 well?? What did he say?
-
@Kcmatt7 Sorry to say I’m feelin a little bit also like your gut instinct. - - Why wouldn’t the AD just come right out off the bat and discount that it was a player? - get it out, put it to bed right off the bat -I hope not, just a little scary - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@jayballer54 just like Bragg’s deal, let the police handle it, plus a 16 year old girl.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 just that there are a lot of moving parts. The police issue plus the title IX issue could be a part of why nobody has come out me said exactly what happened.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 You didn’t hear me say that THERE ARE just saying hoping not. OF COURSE I’m letting the police handle it - sure the hell can’t do anything to solve it, have to let the process work it, the system take care of it. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@Crimsonorblue22 …well God is good. The job, who knows?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Kevin “the di%k” Kietzman. KSU alum
-
No idea, or opinion about, what the story is here, but…
This thing appears to have spin control finger prints all over it.
-
@Kcmatt7 @Crimsonorblue22 With the potential victim being a juvenile, the complications involving any release of information creates an entire universe of liabilities so everyone involved wil probably say " goo, goo" as long as they feel they should. If there actually has been a crime take place in a KU dorm, the financial liabilities alone could be astronomical. All that said, even SZ has to keep mum until counsel advises them just what to comment. Surely even HCBS would’ve had a script of sorts to follow & no player or witness of any nature is allowed to speak on the matter. I doubt if the AD or any authority is aware of direct or otherwise involvement of any team member or said member would NOT be playing. However, that also doesn’t clarify if players maybe protecting one ️ of their own. Bad bad deal… this type behavior ruins people’s lives.
