A ranked win without DP is shocking. Credit to the guys
-
@rcjhdraft Best win since Duke a year ago I’d say. I thought the sky was the limit after that win.
-
That’s all they are going to show about our win?
-
@wissox that’s what I figured. Glad I didn’t watch

-
Their Gillispie is one bad dude.
-
Will this win get us into top 25?
-
@nuleafjhawk We had to suffer through it and you were probably watching Bambi … or eating Bambi if it’s hunting season there.
-
@Bosthawk it should. 3 w’s in a row
-
@approxinfinity Priorities, right?

When the studio crew includes 2 of the fab 5 well Michigan’s gonna get talked about I guess.
-
@wissox 20 minutes worth?
-
@wissox as long as they dont get asked about how much they dislike each other.

This group is tougher than some of the turkeys you all will have to endure tomorrow. Love it.
Cooking bag is critical
-
We got us some athletes this year… fun to watch!
(Not missing juando and Hunter )
-
Well. I was hating on this stupid tournament until we went 3-0 . Now I can say “maybe we saw more of this teams ceiling with money on the table”
-
So do the players get to spilt the 300k or how does that work.

I’m brining then smoking, should be great

Any update on Dawson? With how Elmarko and Mari played this week, he could be behind the 8 ball and Kohl may see less minutes as well.

Took them awhile, but doing it now. Filling up time before the next start.
-
@approxinfinity lol that’s about right
-
Tiller wasn’t scoring but just pulled down 8 boards he is a luxury to us. And even Mbiya saved us by being heads up picked up Elmarko’s fumble and one big step and wham.
-
There was fight in our boys. Never gave up. Me either! #RockChalk
-
@wissox it’s definitely deer season, but I don’t hunt anymore. Did you know you can buy food at the store?
-
When White stupidly fouled out I was kind of upset. But Jamari and ElMarko combine for 24 points, go 4-6 on 3’s, make 9 of 10 FTs. I wonder what would have happened if Self had played them more instead of DaJuan?
-
My daughter and SIL are here, wanted to watch a movie. I said there’s a good one called Michigan-Gonzaga, but they didn’t want to watch.
-
@wissox plenty of action, suspense, and intrigue. (for a basketball fan) unless it is a blowout.
-
Through 7 games on the NCAA stats page we’re 9th in the country on 3 point percentage defense at 24%. Tennessee torched us for 28% but seemingly they were all in the first half. This tournament was great for 3 point defense for us. Seems like we forced a lot of bad threes this week.
-
We’re also blocking a lot of shots and in top 10 nationally and improved on our average of 6.9 with 8 tonight. Tennessees length worried me but they didn’t bother our team as much.
-
@wissox Hunter who? Jerks say “switching everything sucks”?
-
We are better than Gonzaga
-
@approxinfinity Wow, but are we better than Michigan?
-
guys I think we have us a team, a team with a lot of guts , showed a lot of toughness. Now I don’t think we will get that kind of performance from El Marko every time out but sure is nice e have players that can step up every now and then
Then also Jamari has really steeped up an at least proved he can hit some three’s
I think this team and that’s what they are , seem like they really like one another ==, play well together. We have a chance to be really y good when Darryn gets back- - - - HUGE WIN
-
@wissox ha. We would be competitive. With a fully integrated DP, theres a good chance yes
-
@BeddieKU23 Let’s make sure it;s not our last
-
Meanwhile Kentucky handled Tennessee Tech.
-
Melvin Council Highlights vs. Tennessee (17 Pts, 6 Rebs, 4 Asts)
-
Elmarko Jackson Highlights vs. Tennessee (17 Pts, 4 Rebs)
-
I did kinda the same @approxinfinity .
We were down and nearly out, so I thought I’d change the perspective and head to the kitchen to brine the turkey!
Watching from afar did the trick

-
I’m sure this week was really great for Coach Self. The team really gelled.
-
Can anyone imagine self going down the bench and high fiving EVERY player on last years team? I think he likes these guys. I know they sure are a lot more likable to me.
-
Elmarko had been shelved by injury and not being very effective but even when he was down he kept plugging, shooting, driving and playing defense. I bad mouthed him because i’m a big whiny prima Donna. He knew he was a 5 star McD all american and just kept at it and bingo. Now we have a big strong point guard along with another big strong point guard in Melvin Council Jr. and a bigger stronger 3 guard in Tre White. All three are just fearless because they are as good or better each game than their opponents and keep pushing the Jayhawk envelope. Seeing these quiet and confident veteran guys loving each other is … Don’t forget that Tennessee played bully ball and got away with it. Just ask Jamari who ain’t scared and is effing good himself. When Elmarko dribbled down the sideline in front of the scorers table and got hip checked off the court by the same guy who threw Jamari down like a pissed off golfer helicoptering his driver Elmarko somehow flew by, picked up his dribble and left old hip check in the dust.
-
@benshawks08 I mean they put a Gatorade towel on Self’s head during the TV blurb while Self was saying… I had been on them for being soft but they weren’t today.
-
Looking at the head shot of DP during the post game huddle behind Self his expression was like #### what is going on. Might make the rehab feel better.
-
Jamari McDowell played great defense… He looks a lot like Marcus Garrett because he never stops moving his feet… overall I really love the defensive effort by the team. Self got these guys to play hard, not soft.
-
A shoutout to Elmarko. I am not expecting him to suddenly be a star but I’m glad he finally got to see his shots start falling.
-
@Bosthawk I’m pretty sure Barnes told them to play the physical card and they got a little carried away. One guy pushed Tiller and he didn’t move they smacked White and Council Jr… Also Jamari and Elmarko plus everyone else. We kept our composure and made them pay. They hit several unconscious shots at the beginning and end of the half.
-
Is there a leader or two on this squad? Elmarko was directing traffic coming down the court and pointing out get that guy on their fast break. I think he has been paying attention these last months. Do you notice he is always looking for a driving lane. White is able at hold a guy off and bank it in while Melvin likes the Tyshawn Taylor wider swoop down the right side. Tiller takes the more direct route and Flory likes the jam but can flip it too.
-
Shots falling for Elmarko and Mari is a big confidence boost to them. Their defense was much better this week then previously. Both played hard and super proud of them. Very surprised tbh but happy to eat some crow on this duo.
It was cool to see teammates knew Elmarko was on a heater and Melvin followed his lead so they let them get downhill. That’s this team’s identity, getting to the rack. Even if it doesn’t create an easier perimeter shots for this team.
Council and White give us a dynamic we haven’t had the last few years, they know how to draw contact and get to the line, especially White. He’s racking up FT attempts by just being a savy player, already twice as many makes as anyone else on the team. He seeks contact and that’s something that’s a big asset for this team.
-
One thing to consider with how Elmarko has struggled before last night, is he was able to practice much of last season with the injury so he basically took a year off. Mari was able to practice
-
Tre reminds me a little of Jalen Wilson. Not saying he is that caliber of player but he uses the same combo of physicality and savvy to draw a lot of fouls.
