Shakeel Moore with a broken foot.
-
Broke it during a pickup game. Looking like 6-8 weeks recovery or around November timeline. Could be worse. Speedy recovery…
Sorry Juan you gotta go 40 again for a while…
-
ya I just saw that – -6 to 8 weeks , from a dang pick up game
-
Had surgery 2 weeks ago and is in a boot.
Hopeful to be back for the start of the season
-
Of course.
Can we go a season or off-season without an injury, please?
Bummer,
-
The answer is no. Injuries seem to be always apart of the equation. That makes last years roster construction even more maddening. Adjustment made this yr, hopefully at the premium positions we don’t have the same guys get hurt again
-
Bummer, hopefully his recovery is on track, and he gets back to play on time.

Diggy has been a bit better than expected. He is really small though.
-
Who in the world Shakell Moore? Is all I wonder. Not enough to look it up, but it is curious that there is so much roster turnover that a name is completely foreign to someone who is in a KU basketball chat room daily. Sad state of college basketball.

Pretty decent defensive player PG, brought in to spell Harris. I think he was from Mississippi St- - but THAT very well could be wrong
-
Sucks but as a backup he shouldn’t be getting enough minutes to need the preseason conditioning at least. Just hope that being an upper classman helps to pick up the playbook/on court chemistry quickly
-
@dylans Mississippi St. transfer who was basically the only good defender Self brought in this offseason. Should be the main back up to Harris and play alongside Harris when KU needs to beef up their defense. Losing this time is going to be a blow for him and KU.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 while definitely not on his level, Griffen generally gets the “good” defender designation. We also won’t be playing Furphy/Timby/Elmarko at the 2/3 for 40 mins a game like we were at the end of the season, so even Storr should even be an improvement there.
-
Next Man Up!
Hope all are well. #RockChalk
-
@dylans I was the same. I know I can google it. Never heard the name, don’t really care to know it. I’ll watch when they start playing games and see who there is to get excited about and who will ride out of here on some draft hopes and try to forget about them as soon as possible.
-
@dylans ditto
-
@wissox unfortunately that’s gonna be the new norm with the NIL and portal. I think we have been fortunate to keep a main core of players but that could change in the next few years.
-
@kjayhawks I know, but I can still act disinterested, can’t I?
-
I wouldnt be shocked to see Jamari earn some minutes. @BShark survey says……?
-
I think its remarkable how much we return this year and it seems a symptom of the age rather than this specific team that people are feeling disinterested.
-
That being said, Elmarko and Furphy would have had the biggest growth potential so maybe its somewhat the team too.

Any Juan haters left in this group? lol
Look how valuable he has been for us. A solid rock.

The leader of that group is still around.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I’m here
D2 ain’t leading us to a title this year even with this loaded offensive group but still will be an elite 8 level year
-
@kuballin10 By that logic a final four will be exceeding expectations. I doubt a final four would satiate
-
@dylans Bill’s expectations are a title but based on the roster constructed there are heavy limitations
I prefer this roster by a mile to last years because of the offensive firepower and Bill needs to adjust and even dumb down his defense so it is easier to pickup.
Coaches in their natural pride want to have complex schemes defensively that they feel more impact a game than actually so. Getting guys to play good defense is more about want to than schematics (albeit his schematics from inside out are bad in 2024).
If Bill adjusted his defensive thought process and simplified things he’d find that’s the key to multiple titles in the next 3-5 years (see UConn’s scheme defensively versus ours)
-
@kuballin10 You just said KU is an elite eight team with our point guard - there isn’t another one coming in. That means if they make a final four they have exceeded your expectations. Are you moving the goal posts or just lying about your expectations? Because if it’s title or disappointment you are really a miserable fan to be around. Completely unable to enjoy any victory - they’re never by enough points. Every loss is misery for your to wallow in like a pig in shit spreading it around for all. Why even watch, are you so dead inside that your fun is to ruin others enjoyment?
-
@dylans ouch. I can see such a scathing criticism as a response to a response after a game, but pre-season? Brutal!
-
@approxinfinity This is supposed to be the height of optimism for all teams. Every team is 0-0 and full of possibilities. To throw mud on your team in the pre-season is nutzso. The preseason number one team is obviously going to disappoint, if you expect them to stay there all year lossless. But if you use it as a barometer to gauge future outcomes the outlook is very bright - I’d say far more wins than losses thru the year and what more can a reasonable fan ask for than a winning record other than health for the postseason?
-
@dylans “The preseason number one team is obviously going to disappoint,”
This is precisely why I’m always relieved to see us NOT ranked #1 in the pre-season football polls.

Just being ranked was an honor for this forlorn football program.
-
@dylans I think it goes to show that the “experts” don’t know any more about football than we do. In fact, probably less. They get paid to guess.
-
@nuleafjhawk Imagine the bullets Georgia fans were sweating yesterday!
-
@dylans I’d said does everyone confirm we have an elite roster? If you do than expectation is a title based on roster this year especially compared to last year.
I’m not as high as the roster because of the pg and defensive liability at the 5 spot and a 4 man who can’t shoot outside 10 feet which messes up spacing
This year should be way more fun that last year but I’m wanting everyone to call their shot. If you think this is a title roster than say it…if not, then state why.
I’m higher on the roster than last year but still not convinced
-
I dont think this is a title roster. Zero defense.
-
@approxinfinity said in Shakeel Moore with a broken foot.:

I’m gonna upgrade the zero defense to 35% defense.
Harris for 20%, KJ for 10% and Hunter gets 5% for blocks.
There’s potential to upgrade to 55% defensive ability if Griffen decides to play some.
Or, i wonder if Self says screw it and tells Passmore his ticket to the floor is aggressive defense from the start. Griffen as a bench spark.
That would bump up the grade as well!
