Illinois destroying misery
-
Yale’s gonna give someone a game in the tournament if they get there
-
@stoptheflop Not happening tonight.
-
Good game. Could have been a dud.
Rock chalk and happy holidays!!
-
And just like that we turn up and roll. Can we do that… like… more?
-
Nick - - -maybe ? - thee has finally been a Nick sighting
-
A pretty solid second half on both ends, I’ve almost forgotten what a fast start is at this point.
-
Big time end. Kev is an All American
-
Team has shown they can play very good defense when they feel like it. Halfcourt offense is still a work in progress.
-
I’m really starting to wonder when Juan is open, WHY isn’t he shooting that three more ? - -Hitting 46 % for the year, you got to take what a team gives you
-
Mari didn’t see more minutes based off of Timberlake performance. That’s fine little surprised with Hunter stinking up the place that Braun didn’t see a few more minutes.

@BShark looks like there are maybe 3 or 4 KU players who would rather be playing bball than anything else on Dec 22nd.
Will say, there is a big time flu thing going around Lawrence. We know KJ was sick before and during Indiana game. Would not be shocked if Hunter has it right now.
-
ya Hunter just didn’t look engaged tonight at all, but Kevin picking up the slack

Yeah Yale had 16 points in 16 minutes to start the second half. That decided the game.
-
@BShark Just a bit worse than the 14 that KU scored in the first 14 minutes. Ugly game for all.

First half of the UConn game was elite as well. UConn hit like 6 or 7 garbage shots to make it look better than it really was.
-
Weren’t we supposed to replace Morris by now? We need more help … maybe Furphy will step up and mature quickly….? Not sure about marko at this point… he distresses me a lot more than Timberlake. Nick can score… he’s still adjusting to D1. Good to see Kevin being JWill. He will try and drive and shoot any place any time. And I agree… Hunter looked sick or something. This team always looks on the edge of losing. Not a lot of wiggle room with this group.
-
I hope this team comes back refreshed from the break here and pounds WSU. I’m honestly worried with them already playing KSU in that building and give KSU, Mizzou a pretty good game. We can’t sleep walk into that one, you good and well it’s gonna be their Super Bowl.
-
That ksu/wsu was awful! We better not play down to that level. I don’t dislike wsu anymore, just their fans. I like their coach, liked their last one. You know how I felt about greggggg.

Anyone watching Fargo? This seasons been good.
Fargo has been great this season. It’s competing for the best season in the series so far. Juno Temple has been outstanding! Very outstanding. One of the best characters the series has had.
On the other hand, two very poor casting choices are holding the show back from exceptional — Jon Hamm and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Ugh. JJL just seems sooo out of place and miscast. I like Hamm, but he doesn’t have that quirk factor the show is known for.
But, very much enjoying the season.

And about that Yale game…
Watching post game now. Juan is impressive in his interview. Very upfront about his play. Like that.
Before the game started I was thinking a 15-18 point win. boy howdy it sure didn’t seem like it was gonna get there! Ha.
Gotta give it up for McCullar. He’s been great.
Hoping Elmarko is working thru his growing pains. He does look quick on the ball. Hard to teach that.
Yale looked pretty solid.

Boy, I just wanted to say , as much as I like Juan and his approach of his game after hearing him in this interview with David Lawrence my admiration and respect just shot through the roof 100 % more. Part he was talking about how when he got pulled out , that how was kinda acting like a little baby and pouting for a minute but then when he went back in knew he had to do better yet that wasn’t the impressive part of his talk.
Lawrence was asking him about did he remember what or did he have a favorite present that he had got ? - Then they ask him what his plans were for his time off, and he talked about being able to go home and spend time with family. Yet the best part he was talking about was FAMILY , and talking about how he just wanted to be able to give his family some money, saying that really he just like saving his NIL money and doesn’t really want anything so he just saves his NIL and he wants to be able to help his Granny and would like to buy her a house and look out for her. -Was just really impressed by this young man and his morals, & values. Impressive stuff , talking about when he was little they didn’t have a lot and how his mom had to work so much and his granny working a lot and that he just wanted to make sure give them some money all he wanted . What a great young man with great values and morals and love for this family. -We got us a winner for sure
-
@rockchalkjayhawk I have no problem with Hamm, hadnt considered him being miscast but thats an interesting take and I can see why you’d say that. Totally agree about JJL, though either she has grown into it a bit the last 2 episodes or Im just accepting that shes the oddball. Her accent doesn’t make any sense. Her husbands (where did he suddenly come from?) is … British? And her sons is the thick regional accent.
Juno Temple has shattered my expectations after watching her in Ted Lasso and not being impressed. Wow. She’s been a star.

Sorry I left the chat last night.
Yesterday was 7 years since we lost Mike and the girls and I had a good cry!
Rock Chalk
Merry Christmas to All My Friends!
-
@RockChalkinTexas You are someone who makes this place beyond special. I have appreciated for years how much excitement and joyous fandom you bring to every post. When you also share your pain, your humanity and openness are so deeply moving that words are inadequate in expressing how I come even more to understand how wonderful your marriage was, and what a loss you feel. Especially while surrounded by celebration.
I am so happy for you to have the girls, and I am deeply moved that in all of the tears you come here to wish us merriment!
May your holidays be brightened by the happiest of memories, and may you and your family make many more this and every year as you share the blessings you all had, and have!!!

My fav on the Yale game was Juan.
When he turned up his defense late in the second half he finished off Yale. He stopped ball movement from point and he had several key steals. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen him that turned up before! Maybe it was the level of competition… but Juan’s feet barely touched the ground! Kudos also to KJ and of course, Kevin!
I’m a big fan of Hunter, just like I was with Big Mac… but these guys both have the footwork disease! Both should have been taking dance classes for years now!
-
@drgnslayr Mccormack DID take dance classes to improve his footwork before coming to KU. Hoping Hunter can rip off a brilliant 6 game stretch like Dave, but I don’t think the footwork (defensive at least) will come naturally. Did you mean on offense as well for Hunter? He seems to have an economy of motion, tries to get his shot off fast. When he gets slowed down the results aren’t great.
-
Speaking of foot work, has anyone got better moves than our Joel?
-
I think his footwork is lacking on both sides of the ball. His position is very specific on foot movement to score and he could use some help.
I’m not trying to be negative on either player… I don’t have that height or ever had to deal with the growth spurts they faced to get there. I’m sure there are challenges these guys faced with their size. I just call it like I see it as far as what they lack to reach a higher level.
But in other post fundamentals, he is amazing! I love how he always keeps the ball up high and on a rebound or facing the basket he gets his shot off quick!
I can’t ever recall a post player at Kansas with this level of fundamentals (I guess Danny Manning, though I always saw him as a stretch 4). He just needs some footwork help. It will become more prominent when he moves on to G-league some day. I don’t see a pathway for him in the NBA without developing handles, footwork, and more quickness. His trey shot is really nice but he has to be the full package in the NBA.
-
@drgnslayr agree he would struggle at the next level. I dont know if UConns big isnt quick footed but that game there were a couple possessions where it seemed like Hunters feet were faster and he recovered from challenging a shot to get the rebound quickly. I wonder if there is an effort or conditioning component to his footspeed that can still be unlocked.
