MAUI WOWIE TOURNAMENT

Really O’ahu, but still Hawaii. What a field: #1, #2, #4, #7, #11, and UCLA. Possible Dickinson/Edey match up. I know this won’t happen and yes, I’m not a HOF coach, but I sure wish Coach would limit the starters to 20 minutes or so against Charminade. Our guys ran out of gas in the third game of the Bahama’s tourny last year and got thumped by Tennessee 64-50. The Charminade game should give Coach the opportunity to rest the starters and get some good minutes in for the bench which was barely noticeable on the scoreboard during the Kentucky game. KU must get points from Parker, Johnny and Nic; the Charminade game is perfect to get the bench a bunch of extra minutes. But, I’m still expecting to see the starters on the floor with 6 minutes to play, then the substitutions start.

I never did see how much the Illinois game raised for Maui. I’m going to miss the high school like gym the tournament is played at on Maui. I’ll look in on the early games, but will have to catch the Marquette score tomorrow.

With FAU’s loss, it’s very likely Gonzaga moves into the top 10 this week making it 5 top 10 teams.
For KU to win, it’s very likely they’ll have to be a pair of top 5 teams to do so.

Boo to the Syracuse coaching staff for wearing plain white quarter zips. Colorful (tastefully obnoxiou) shirts and sneakers are the proper attire for this tournament. How did they not get the message. Cuffe sighting for Syracuse.

IDK if it’s the arena, jet lag, or not good shooters, but Zags were 6/32 from 3, 19% and Perdue was 4/17, 24%. I imagine this will be another game that Juan takes a break from shooting.

WOW! What a day for sports.
For me, watching US soccer first. Will stop at the half and pick up later. Turning to the Chiefs right now. Will watch on ABC so they don’t show KU score. Then later the Hawks in Hawaii!
