@kjayhawks our defense is much better than that. If it’s Ballard I’d say closer to 27-20
If KSU comes out like they did against Baylor, then it could get ugly.
It’s crazy how far Baylor has fallen since they won the league. Like they’re horrific
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 @FarmerJayhawk Baylor hasn’t been good but yes I don’t get good vibes for us watching this game. We will know in a week either way.
-
@FarmerJayhawk them and tcu
-
Frustrated. So many injuries, dating back to TCU in 2021. KU can’t catch a break. Few teams have adequate QB depth, although KU’s 3rd string looked decent.
-
Meanwhile KSU plays with a rabbits foot up its ass. They have or will play backup QBs in almost every conference game. The starters played for noted powerhouses Houston and Baylor

I really give a lot of credit to Lance for what he’s done here. He’s made us have hope for KU football again.
But his penchant for trick plays is usually cool when it’s in the flow of a game, but twice now I think it has cost us by not giving us the best chance to win. I guess you can’t say we would have scored on the 3rd down that led to the tying FG but lining a freshman QB out at WR and running a wildcat on the weak side of the field was really not my idea of a great chance.
Many remember the end of the Arkansas game when he took the ball out of Daniels hands and we failed. Lance needs to finish these games strongly and he does a lot obviously but I don’t like these calls.

This loss is even bigger now with OSU getting absolutely demolished in Orlando today.
Also hate that Missouri is wrecking Tennessee today as well.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 osu is shocking me, no home cooking though!
-
@wissox we will always want more as fans, right or wrong. I just hate running 2 gadget plays in the red zone with a 3rd string QB. Just like bringing a cold Bean in to attempt a pass when JD was on fire in the bowl game. Sometimes the smartest coaches over think the simple plays. It just isn’t logical or intelligent anyway you slice it. I think we needed to run a bit more on that last series once we got inside the 30. Still glad he’s our coach and very happy with the progress he’s made. I personally think the speed option worked great today the few times we ran it. It’s the same thinking as their RB getting over 20 carries in the first half. We couldn’t stop it at that point so why stop?
-
@kjayhawks I agree entirely. I’m not sure why but most coaches have abandoned lining up in the I and just ramming it in on short yardage. Don’t get cute, it’s a simple game.
-
@FarmerJayhawk yes the chiefs struggle in short yardage for the same reason. Line up in the shotgun and hand it off 5 yards deep. Get under center, try the tush push or use a lead blocking full back. We know what we are doing isn’t working. “Doing the same thing repeatedly while expecting a different result, is insanity” -Albert Einstein

Crappy football day.

I’ll go back to telling everyone that all my KU attire is for basketball.
-
KU went from 3rd place to 8th place in the B12 standings today.

Why in the hell was the OC calling QB keeper plays when Bean’s backup is a Fr walk-on? KC learned its lesson when Mahomes got hurt on a QB sneak against Denver. Sure, the QB Bean keeper plays were working but the cost was way too high. Cole Ballard did his best, but our offense needed a game tested QB.

Cole Ballard wasn’t why KU lost yesterday. We had 3 redzone trips and only scored 6 points because we don’t run anything under center in short yardage situations. Our DC for whatever reason decided to play prevent defense when Tech only needed FG to win and has a kicker with a huge leg.
Was Ballard great yesterday? No, but he made some plays and moved the offense when Bean couldn’t do it even before his injury. The loss yesterday was on the coaches making questionable play calls in key situations.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 this is definitely the worst loss in coach LLs career here. We flat out got out coached but it was going to happen at some point. The best learn in victory and defeat. Ballard was salty when you consider he had 3 dropped passes and his INT was in his receivers hands first. Bean seems be on an every other week schedule. One week he is the best back up QB in the nation and could start at a lot of schools. The next week he’s making the wrong read and throwing into double/triple coverage.
-
Coach said in this post game it was a head injury with Jason .That to me sounds like possible concussion but could very easily be wrong. – Coach also said Jason was feeling better later also , so with that can’t see it being a concussion. If it is I’m sure he would have to clear protocol - -not sure how long that takes if it is.
-
We could’ve used that penalty on the kick when they jumped on and over us! Grim reaper and Fairchild were hit in the head too. Guess it wasn’t obvious enough. Bean is so long, pretty easy target up the gut. Didn’t he sit out a play after being roughed up and they fed him up the gut again? I know it’s not flag, but he’s not built like a RB. I’m having a hard time losing this game!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 the officiating was terrible no question. I think the announcers picked about 6 penalties they missed on TT and 2 on us. We still should’ve won
-
I need a snickers!
-
The next game will be much less stressful. Not a nail biter at all.
-
@nuleafjhawk yeah because we’re gonna blow them out
-
@FarmerJayhawk Yeah. That’s what I meant.
