Great win! Just discussing football, not pissed at anyone. If we were sitting around a TV watching together we’d be going back and forth on that issue and it’d be fun. You’d call me stupid, I’d call you an idiot, we’d laugh and celebrate the win. Exciting game, our D needs work still which isn’t surprising but they did have a lot of dominating moments.

Ad Astra Per Aspera!
-
We could of had easily another 21 points - -fumbled at their 21 , - - innercept from their 31-- - and a TD called back - -should of hung 55 on them. - - Still won , Big win – 540 yards of offense — - -still really big win
-
@wissox I enjoy a few arguments from time to time lol @Texas-Hawk-10 and I will get after each but we have a lot respect for one another. It’s just a chat room at the end of day.

Let’s review a recent non call compared to Bryant’s hit tonight.
vs:
-
Refs tried. I hope LL goes off postgame.
On to a tough game @Nevada
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich Nevada isn’t good but it’s kinda trap game on the road with BYU coming in after them.
-
What is everyone’s opinion on these Friday night games? Attendance last week was just over 41k and up to nearly 46k this week. I feel like if we can beat Nevada we will have a true sell out vs BYU. I like them personally because it gives me Saturday to do whatever I need to. But I also think it’s hurt attendance by a few thousand with highschool football going on, this week you also have nascar running the truck race tonight at the Kansas speedway that may have stole a few people.
-
Two things:
-
Never again wear any uniforms that aren’t black.
-
Help me launch an investigation into the dirtiest/ stupidest officiating crew in the history of football.
With an honest/non vision impaired crew we win 58-7.

If you’re watching at home Friday is nice. But I hate it as a season ticket holder.

And I really liked that the students got behind the black out. I really enjoyed ESPN’s coverage of the crowd; everyone was having a great time. Does any other college stadium have a stupid beer garden? Now that KU has a great team and the fans are back in the stands, may we please get rid of the eye sore beer garden?

“Targeting and making forcible contact with the crown of the helmet.” https://twitter.com/PITmanStats/status/1700353404168491013?s=20
I guess I admire you guys fierce defense of all things Jayhawks, but tell me where this doesn’t meet the definition of targeting?
-
I was impressed and somewhat dazzled by Coach Kotelnicki’s offensive sets and plays in the first half. Similar to what the Chiefs do to confuse the defense. Several times sitting at home, I had no idea which of our players even had the ball. While the second half was a huge disappointment, Neal’s and Hishaw’s long rushes in the second half were just enough to keep the Illini from getting good enough field position to score. I sure wish Hishaw had gotten one more rush to push him over 100 yds, but 120 for Neal and 98 for Hishaw against what all the media said was a very good Big 10 defense was an outstanding job by the offense.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I was! Had a suite which was very nice.
-
Has KU stopped sounding the gong on third down? I loved the gong when I was at the game.
-
@FarmerJayhawk you will soon be mayor of Lawrence, taking DTae’s job! Back where you belong!

been reading Multiple articles and listening to podcasts today. Illinois all over about how KU looked like a really good team , how their linebackers looked slow and how fast seemed like KU was.
I mentioned earlier, I think we are more athletic - -quicker and for sure mor physical. I don’t care who you are getting 6 sacks and 9 TFL’S is huge. 2nd week in a row with 9 TFL’S - Newton had 2 sacks for them but yet for the majority of the game was pretty much a non factor.
We are DONE being other schools whippin child - - LOOK OUT cause were comin. To think even NEXT YEAR w have a lot coming back , I like that.
Like the Illinois podcast said after this game the score was not indictive of the game- -KU controlled that game could of/should of ben a lot worse. - - vey easily could of been 55 -24. - figure we fumbled going in on their 21 - - We threw i INT going in from their 31, - -w had a TD called back -from what their 17 ? - even if we just had three FG’S from those would of been 44 - - 24, Like they wee saying you don’t want to get into a track meet with this team/

Bryan was lifting his arm up as he made contact. The Ark player just made a massive hit but wasn’t lifting up.

Our QB started out and had me thinking he’s not an elite passer but he snapped out of it and made some excellent passes and when he takes off running he becomes truly special.

Daniels is certainly a much better passing QB than Bean, but I give a lot of credit to our receivers on those bullet passes that don’t seem to be catchable mid-flight.
-
I thought JD looked pretty darn good for missing a portion of camp, being throw in the fire against a good B10 defense. He looked gassed to me at times which isn’t surprising, he may not be in game shape just yet. I only had a problem with about 3 plays he made.
-
Such a terrifically hot start by both the offense and the defense against Illinois. Hopefully, that is the new personality of this year’s team. Our offense ran 44 rushing plays, 11 by Daniels and 29 pass attempts. I’m sure KU ran the ball more in the 4th Q to eat clock, but I still would like to see Daniels run less and throw more passes. Try to limit Daniels to 5 rushes a game and a couple more long pass attempts to open up our fantastic running backs. Poor Nevada; I have simpathy for their players since not so long ago KU was in a similar position. I fully expect a big first half by the offense; if the Vandals(who?) can pass for 313 and rush for 150, it should be a track meet for our offense.

I was really impressed by how KU beat up on Illinois physically. Not long ago we were on the other end of that…

@wissox I believe the targeting call was designed to eliminate helmet to helmet contact. Seems like in a football game, you would have to detach your head to not make contact with your helmet somewhere. If someone hit me in the stomach with their helmet, I’d probably puke on them. But it should not be a call that gets a player thrown out of a game.
-
@nuleafjhawk I agree mostly, but my only point in the argument is that it appeared to me he led with his helmet right into his midsection which is a violation of the rule.
-
@wissox Hey brother, I had forgotten about that exchange, but the whole idea of targeting has the potential to really negatively impact games. Because it’s rarely called right. I mean think about it - if you tackle with your arms, what’s going to happen? You’re going to miss the tackle. Every time. If you involve your chest/midsection your head is right there too. It’s not possible to have your helmet completely away from the tackle. I totally agree with the helmet to helmet call (and even some of them are unavoidable when you’re going 20 mph and flying through the air). I don’t want anyone (even K-State or Mizzou) players to get hurt. But when it’s not helmet to helmet I think it shouldn’t be a penalty. Especially not a miss half a game penalty. Just my opinion.

We lost the appeal. They’re out first half.
