That is correct. Not as good as Tiller but perhaps there’s something there. He’s a bit old already so if he’s not a guy that can play early then hopefully he was cheap, which is the expectation with him compared to Tiller

@BeddieKU23 Looks like to me Calderon made quite a jump in 247. Last time I checked he was ranked like 134 or somewhere right in there, HUGE JUMP checked today and he is up to # 67 in the Nation now

FYI Samis Calderon committed to KU
Sounds like we getting a good athlete. Measurables and athletic ability sound great, hopefully he has some skill.
Calderon is a high-level athlete with exceptional length, huge hands, and a frame that is both strong and defined. He’s measured at 6-foot-8 with shoes on and has a massive 7-foot-3 wingspan and 10-inch hands. His athletic testing numbers are equally impressive with a 38-inch vertical and the fastest full-court sprint time in the entire OTE program. His physical tools are just as impressive within the flow of the game as he has easy bounce, covers the court, and has all the tools necessary to thrive on the defensive end of the floor.

Watched him and eight others name their Schools at OTE just now. - -got to see he looks like a big solid guy – solid pick up

Well with DP & Samis signed now wonder if there is anyone else from HS ranks that we might be in on , or interested in OR will the rest all be portal - -With the Roster enlarging to 15 - -I think someone said w was probably looking at like Seven spots to fill with grads and possible departures-- anyone have any idea where we are going now ?

I think they would take a HS guy if a guy blows up in season. But getting in my opinion the second best player in the country in DP and a freak athlete who could be a developmental story in Samis is solid.

I don’t always follow recruiting too often but it seems like there’s been some good things happening this week or two. Of course, the ones making the headlines are the ones that leave before we ever get to know them.

@wissox True, and we know 1000 % Peteson won’t even bother to un pack his bags–for sure NBA level kid right now, Scouts are drooling over him, pretty much has everything you want.

Some buzz and chatter that Tiller will pick KU after all. Believe he’s announcing on Saturday.
6’10 forward with 7’3 wingspan. Self is not messing this cycle with getting kids with the ideal measurables.
Tiller is very skilled but a player I think will definitely be in the Self toughening school for a while. We’ll see how this one goes.

I’ve heard the same thing, which is surprising but hey, the more the better.

In an ideal world, Flory comes back next season and Tiller is our backup 5, which would give him time to toughen up and develop before playing a more major role in the future.

Bill is accumulating some SERIOUS length. Peterson has a 6’10 wingspan, Calderon and Tiller are 7’3. Kease, Rylan, and Flory also have plus length. I don’t think it’ll be a great offensive team as of now (portal PG and 4 pending) but should be an absolute menace on defense.
