Transfer Rumblings

@Kcmatt7 he clearly wants to play basketball or he’d medically retire.
@dylans he’s had two knee surgeries since he got here. He’s done everything asked of him.

That Hunter had name the 4 frontrunners for him and they were G’Town - -Maryland - - Villanova – & Kansas .He reported that even though Hunter had zoom calls with Kentucky - - & Arkansas that those two Schools were less likely for his landing destination. - -AHH CAL so it isn’t so. lol
I have been saying this.
didn’t realize you had mentioned G’Town sorry, at any rate interesting three out of the four East Coast- - makes me wonder if he isn’t more likely to end up on the Coast

@FarmerJayhawk Maybe everything he’s capable of, but he was asked to play. Scholarships are now paid jobs. Underperform for any reason and you get shown the door. Unfortunate consequence of NIL $ at the big boy table. Can’t handle them with kid gloves if they want treated like adults.
-
@dylans then change the rule. KU agreed to these rules years ago. Cuffe was offered a 4 year financial aid deal to come be a scholarship basketball player at KU. Not play a certain amount of minutes, not score X amount of points. Just be on the roster and not mess up off the court. Talk about being an adult, don’t complain about the rules you agreed to when offering a dude a scholarship. Either change them or can it and deal with it.

yet it’s kind of hard to perform when you’ve been hurt 85% of the time since you have been at KU.- -it’s not he has went out and asked to be injured , kind of hard to judge a kid to see if he could of helped the team any when he has been hurt , none of us has actually seem him play to know whether or not he could help. I would almost bet after watching Mr turnover a minute Bobby I’d be willing to bet he could play as well if not some bettr then that. - We can’t say we haven’t seen him on the Court

This kid is special. Unreal that he was in D2.

time for a rule change to keep up with the times. Kids can leave whenever they want. Universities should have the same freedom to pull scholarships, if they don’t already.
Easy dude. I never offered him shit, nor would I have. I have every right to complain on a chat message board. That is exactly what they are for. -Or as some prefer you can use it to make yourself feel important about internet harvested information. Tons of doctors and lawyers on here.
-
@dylans His comment, I think, meant the school did these things, not you personally. So the school should recognize its responsibility to act like an adult and fulfill its bargain. No one thinks you gave Cuff a scholarship!
-
@dylans I didn’t say you did or anything of the sort. Schools should abide by the rules they agreed to. No need to be a passive aggressive prick about it.
-
@FarmerJayhawk ditto
-
-
@BShark lolz
-
@FarmerJayhawk So about the D2 kid, I like him.
-
@BShark he’s good for sure. I always worry about that big a transition. Not sure exactly the role I’d want for him next year but he’s a legit talent
-
He’s rail thin which is definitely an issue.
-
@BShark Yeah rail thin guys never work out well (eye roll - kd, chet, ect)
-
@kuballin10 It just means he needs to put on weight, especially depending on where he ends up. Interesting that you bring up KD though given how his body is breaking down. Barely played the last 4 years. Chet seems to be injury plagued as well.

Kevin has declared for the draft. Idk how many times he has declared and if that matters etc… Sounded like yesterday that he was leaning towards staying in based on Bill’s comments.
-
I think it’s twice you can declare and withdraw, so we will see.
-
@BShark I’m giving you crap lol
If some guy is 6-9 and athletic with skill but skinny I don’t care much. Hard to put weight on a 6-9 naturally skinny body.
Yeah KD has fallen off with these injuries lately….I liked him in okc but he did them dirty and then once we found out he had a burner account and was arguing with 14 year olds on Twitter I knew he was pathetic
-
@FarmerJayhawk Better than any portal wing addition, imo.
-
@BShark I’m with you there. Especially if we get Dickinson. All the sudden that’s a lot of versatility on both ends
-
@BShark are we looking at him?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Not that I know of.
-
I get so confused. Like reading a John LeCarre novel that has had every other name redacted.
-
Livingston and Collins on the market? Well huh that’s gonna be fun https://twitter.com/kflaherty247/status/1644177707826069505?s=46&t=c0LiaNrxev6XfT7LIH8dAQ

Looks like we won’t land Bamba
If Hunter ends up elsewhere plus other top recruits we wanted and we end up with second tier guys like Ingram - it will be a bad offseason.
The only hope would be late nba draft pullouts that need a place to land after the dust settles
-
@kuballin10 said in Transfer Rumblings:

We did not really pursue him.
-
@BShark I think he will test the water and then decide. I think it is 50-50.
-
@FarmerJayhawk This is the only way that Kev coming back makes the team better, imo. They need to add two scorers. If you add Dickinson you can take someone like Timberlake. Then you have a pretty formidable lineup. But Kev needs to be the 3rd or 4th scoring option on a contender. Otherwise they aren’t a contender.

Booo
-
@Kcmatt7 If we only land 2 transfers and it’s Hunter and Timberlake - we better hope the freshman guards can play.
Wish Cuffe would leave so Bill has a third transfer option
-
@kuballin10 this assumes Kev returns right?
If so, yea that roster wins a lot of games. But I don’t think you’re betting on them to make a deep run. Either they need to take someone better than Timberlake in that situation, or yea the freshman will need to play out of their minds.
-
@Kcmatt7 If the staff gets Cryer and Dickinson, we good.
-
Dickinson plus a DUDE at the 4 can make a very deep run. I know they’re in that market, we’ll see if anyone shakes loose.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Who are we linked to right now outside of Dickinson, Cryer and Timberlake? I haven’t heard a real name in a bit.
-
@Kcmatt7 Spears, and have heard back channel chatter to Livingston. Livingston’s camp has watched a lot of Jalen Wilson and stroked their chin beards, so to speak.
-
KU isn’t a serious player for Cryer. He has stated he wants to play PG. He is obviously not going to do that at KU.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Spears is like 6’3 on a tall day, no? I feel like they get one of Spears, Timberlake or Cryer. All 3 filling the same role.
Livingston is the only “wing” guy I’ve heard so far.
-
@Woodrow I think we’ll get a visit. And I imagine we’ll be his strongest offer money-wise.
-
“I do not want to play point guard full time, but while I was in Waco I was not able to play point guard at all,” Cryer said. “I am looking to see what school will let me play some time at point guard. I realize I am lethal off the ball and I do not want to take that out of my game because I know it is one of my strengths that can help a team win. I know to get to that next level, I will have to be able to showcase what I can do on the ball.”
I wouldn’t say that we couldn’t offer this to him. Just saying.
-
@Kcmatt7 if there are 4 spots (I think Cuffe ends up leaving, but (¯_(ツ)_/¯) they’ll take two guards IMO. The wing market hasn’t really developed like they’d hoped. So I could see a smaller lineup next year than we’ve seen recently with two guards, two wings, and a big: Juan, Spears/Elmarko, wing transfer, wing transfer (Livingston?), Dickinson/Udeh.
If only 3 I think one of each: Juan, transfer/Elmarko, Kev, transfer, Udeh/Dickinson if he comes.
I’m sure there will be more available soon. Handy list of guys entering, listed by if they’re just testing and whether or not they’re also in the portal https://www.rookiescale.com/early-entrant-tracker/

Heard something very interesting about Cryer today…

@BShark does he suck defensively?
-
@kuballin10 I love Cryer, I hope we land him. It’s looking like it could be possible. Let’s see if he sets a visit to KU.
-
Juan —-LJ —- Kev or ? —- ? — Hunter Potential to be nasty
-
Get me Hunter/Livingston/Kev and if Cuffe transfers I’d take Timberlake and be ecstatic.
-
@TYOHawk Did you see Swain’s recent post about what we are looking for at the wing spot and why we didn’t recruit a certain player? You’ll be happy lol.
-
@BShark I’ll look now. Thanks for the warning
