Bennett is awful I can’t stand his philosophy
Staff has whiffed a lot lately between starting a 6-6 5 man and having no bench so if they have their pick of the litter they better get it right
Ochai and Braun developing, plus a missouri st kid and remy won the title it wasn’t like pulling those kids was some big recruiting win. Heck Bill didn’t even see potential on Och initially and had to pull his redshirt after enough practices where he couldn’t be denied
Not quite true. The lifting of his RS happened around when Udoka got hurt.
I’ll grill Self a bit for keeping Cam around. The thought was that Zach was going to start so that was part of our problem trying to portal in another big last offseason.

@BShark why?
Averaged 3 rpg
Didn’t play much and doesn’t seem like a low post scorer
Looks like Jackson Mahomes
Shedrick’s PER is in near elite territory, 24.9 this year and 23.7 in '22. His block rate has also been north of 10% the last 2 years so he would be an elite rim protector which would make up his deficiencies in rebounding. His rebounding rates are in line with what Jalen Wilson and McCullar did last season. Shedrick would definitely be huge defensive upgrade over anybody else currently on KU’s roster or connected to KU. Virginia’s leading rebounder only averaged 5.8 per game. A big part of those rebounding number is the snail’s pace Virginia plays at. He would be a double-double machine here, but at starter level minutes 10-7 seem like reasonable numbers for him. And his FT shooting and range have gotten better each year.
While he wouldn’t be a Big 12 POY candidate most likely, he would a really good addition to KU’s roster and I’d love to see him in Crimson and Blue, but I’m assuming he’ll end up elsewhere that he’d get more minutes than he would here.

Look at what the expectation of the roster was going into the season. Harris, McCullar, Dick/Rice, Wilson, and Clemence starting with bench pieces of Pettiford, Yesufu, Dick/Rice, Adams, and Udeh/Ejiofor. Most people assumed Self was going to end up with a 9/10 man rotation which isn’t normal for Self. Rice and Clemence were absolutely the two biggest bench killers this year as they were expected to play much larger roles this season and obviously didn’t for their own reasons.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 hard to use per when he plays minimal minutes
Saw some highlights he can definitely block some shots and help the back end of our defense but not 100% sold yet
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Staff whiffed on almost everyone you named
Gradey was clearly good and Kevin but he’s a transfer
On high school guys and even pettiford and Clemence were all busts

@kuballin10 New big to monitor Kadin Shedrick
Yep, this is the one.
-
From Ryan on the phog
Huh, guess there might be a little bit of legs to McCullar being open to a COVID year. Was told it’s not likely, but not to rule it out. Wild.
-
Cuffe is reluctant to move on apparently. Really likes it at KU. Problem is he’ll never play minutes here soo…
-
Honestly with the attrition we’ve seen so far I wouldn’t mind keeping the kid at the end of the bench if he likes it that much.
-
With the reduction in scholarships I don’t think that’s feasible. He hasn’t played basketball in 3 years now

We’re going to 12 scholarships with the reduction right? I mean if he wants to be the 12th guy it doesn’t bother me because Coach likely isn’t going to have 11-12 guys playing in his rotation.
-
Correct, 12.
The way I see it, Kyle’s spot could be used to get an impactful transfer. That 12th spot is now used to find a starter or Top 8 rotation guy, I think that far outweighs the returns you’ve gotten from Kyle so far.

I just wish people could accept the fact and quit trying to hold on to a dream about KEVIN & GRADY they are not coming back

Don’t think people should speak in absolutes when it comes to this stuff. Shocking things have happened in the past and will happen again in the future. We don’t know exactly what is going on in their heads. People don’t always do the most logical thing or the thing that most of us would choose. Circumstances and minds can also change over time. Its just best to never say never in my opinion.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t follow his Coach to Texas Tech

Bossi also mentioned there is some interest involved with Caleb Love and KU.
-
@jayballer67 he’s open. Someone very close to me may or may not have chatted with him earlier
-
Hunter Dickinson is entering the portal from Michigan

Well may not be a bad choice - -
-
@jayballer67 oh he’s a take
-
@FarmerJayhawk Don’t love his offensive numbers in CONFERENCE USA. Really just don’t think he offers a different look either which appears to be what Self is after down low.
-
@jayballer67 please no. Dont care if he has talent. Please no.
-
@BShark I will hear no CUSA slander since they’re about to sweep the postseason
-
@FarmerJayhawk Good league! Just saying I actually don’t like the fit with Kansas.
-
@BShark What part? He’s big, he’s physical and he can score in the post no?
@jayballer67 - Give US Hunter! A 7-1 4 man for Bill with some short stud guards….and say UVA center or Ike would be NASTY defensively
Juan Ace Bamba Hunter Ike
Bench Elmarko Kj Udeh

The UNT big? He doesn’t score well in the post. Not efficient for that position. Not skilled. Worse than any big we have been linked with IMO.
-
@BShark I must have watched something else cause he looked decent in the semifinal I thought maybe I’m blind it’s possible
Heck Hunter could play the 5 and throw 4 stud guards out with him….Hunter at KU would be title 3 for Bill
-
@kuballin10 Hunter is good.
-
@BShark he was second in the league in PER my dude. Also a tremendous defensive player. Top 5 in the league in block% and rebound%.

ORTG, OBPM, shot percentage were all alarming to me.
-
@BShark all the +/- (and offensive numbers generally) at UNT will be down because they play at the slowest tempo this side of Oklahoma 2A hoops
-
Juan
Ace
Moore
Bamba
Hunter
Bill’s 3rd title
Bench is
Kj
Udeh
Elmarko
31-0

GREAT reference there. Oklahoma still doesn’t have a shot clock IIRC

Ain’t happening but I agree we’d damn near run the table with that line-up.
-
@BShark why not?
-
@kuballin10 Don’t think we have that kind of money.

Soon, soon you will be a UNC fan. They think they are going to add about 25 guys.
-
@kuballin10 I have heard we are cooling on Battle. Timberlake is one I would really pay attention to. The real tell will who visits after the dead period ends.
-
@BShark You didn’t like Timberlake I thought lol he was the cam Martin of wings right?
-
@kuballin10 No that’s Knecht LOL. Timberlake is fine but I think a bench piece for us. Career 38% 3 point shooter over 5(!!!) seasons. He will be 25 by the time we tip next season lol.
-
Yep now we’re in the lull of portal season. Idk why the NCAA opened it up before the season was even over. Dumb as usual. At least in football it makes sense because you want guys to find homes in time for the spring semester to start. Don’t have that in basketball so the result is a window that’s open way too long and doesn’t do anyone much good, especially since it opened in a dead period of all times.
Told you all Battle wasn’t probably gonna fit here. Timberlake doesn’t really do it for me. Mid-major guards almost always take a huge hit in production and efficiency when they move up. Turns out basketball is different when you play against better players. Who knew? I’m not sure anyone in the portal could call Bill up and commit right now.
